The retreat disappointed Janxi. With numbers whittled down, she wanted to go square off and show off Semper Fu to the rest of the squad. She knew full well Tori could handle herself. Sam and Richardson seemed to have advanced training. The rest she doubted, other than Doc's insane luck, which began to unnerve her. She'd love to use her teeth and claws to good effect.
Instead, like Tori, she sought priority targets. The barbarians acted ready to hug the members of the team they saw. If hugs turned into a back stab, two smartly concealed cats would put an end to treachery. She kept her crosshairs at the ground near a priority target and watched the scene unfold. Her hungry stomach grew hungrier as she contemplated using tooth and claw in combat. Beneath her helmet, she licked her nose, hoping chowtime would come soon.

Sam smirks as she pulls out her vibro knife. "Hold still." she says to Shep, radioing the rest of the team "Cover me." She'll attempt to cut the knife but isn't surprised when it doesn't work. "Damned things." she mutters to herself, radioing the team again, "Any suggestions on how to get rid of this thing?"

"Stripes to Six..." Tori said. "I don't know much about hocusin', but tha manual says, most spells can be waited out cuz they expire 'ventually." Tori's words were but a mumble, not wanting to give away her position.
"Mebbe ask our new friends... They got more experience with the gator guys than we got. If they don't got nuthin, or this spell lasts more than five mikes (minutes) or if our XO panics 'gain, one of us kitties or Richardson could try to blow him out!" It was clear Tori was having a laugh at Shep's expense, but given Sam could probably not locate the two cats, she could rest easy. She, Shep, Socrates, Autumn and Richardson stood well covered.
"Mebbe rub some butter on'em?"

Socrates shouldered his rifle and replaced his vibroswords. He didn't say anything either way. He was moer busy trying to figure out the scent difference between a Gator man and a lizard man. Even the names were frustratingly close. Otherwise, he moved towards the Gatormen corpses to retrieve tradable booty.
"I need a spare hand before the Barbarians think think these should be theirs." He said, generally, more to Richardson, Autumn and the cats, Sam and Shep otherwise preo-ccupied. "And the Lizard-man gear. Anything worth trading for a working boat."

Autumn also noticing the stuck Shep grabs her laser cutter. "We can try this although it will probably take time. If you want Captain I can take the time to get him out leaving you to help the others who are more combat orientated then I am."
She waits for a response while running through her head other means of maybe opening the net. Mainly what ever chemicals she has on her that can help

Sam shakes her head at Autumn, "Thanks Doc, but from what little that I remember of these nets, it's not going to do much good. We'll see if we can get some help but we might have to wait the spell out. Help Socrates see what we can salvage from the lizard men."
Smirking, Tori can hear that Sam is trying to suppress a chuckle at the butter comment and looks over in the direction of the Barbarians cheer. 'Well,' Sam thinks to herself, 'here goes nothing' Sam slowly starts to move in that direction, her rifle pointed at the ground and says quietly but firmly, "We could use some assistance with this net, if you would be agreeable."

You're wasting your time, Doc." Shep said as he stopped moving so the magical net stopped drawing tight on him. " I'm glad you are all enjoying this."
The four of the barbarians stepped into view, being led by a muscular woman who was the one wearing the CS old style breastplate spun into her homemade armor. She scowled at Socrates picking the dead (nothing really of value except for their weapons and ammo). At Sam's request, she nodded to the smallest of the men with her, who moved towards Shep. The shorter man reeked of magic to the cats and Soc.
The woman spoke," why are deadboys helping Blue Marlins? You mostly shoot at us when we meet." Anyone paying attention could tell there were more barbarians still in the bush, but from the sounds of things they were either wounded or tending to the wounded.

"These are Splugorth weapons, aren't they?" He asked, tossing a damaged wrist laser for Shep to see.
Meanwhile, Socrates pretty much lumped all the weapoons into a single sack. "A fusion block should get rid of this." He said, hefting the sack.

The barbarians seemed not to be a threat. Their leader approached Sam with her warrior guard. The remainder were licking wounds, not attempting to encircle. They made a gesture of good faith in the team, so Tori took it upon herself to do the same. She climbed down from her tree and approached Sam and the barbarian queen. The fishing cat seemed to materialize from the vegetation. She kept her rifle in hand, but pointed it towards the deck, so nobody could construe her actions as hostile.
As she approached, she removed her helmet, and replaced it with her boonie and sunglasses. She took a snuff of 'nip and purred softly. As she passed Socrates, she shook her head. His story went from pillaging the dead to trade with the barbarians to "denying the use" with a few scornful looks. He could at least stick to his story. Typical. She wasn't giving up any of her fusion blocks for Socrates' amusement or to help him cover his ass after earning the ire of the barbarians.
Passing Shep, she stopped to gaze at him. She said nothing, but the twitching tip of her tail revealed she was clearly amused. She turned her head as a confused dog might, then watched the mage approach. Somehow, she trusted he would help Shep.
Then, she took a place a few steps behind Sam, to show respect, and to show the barbarian queen the team's leader had support. Without looking too posed or threatening, she stood to look as badass as possible behind Sam. Tori wanted to show Sam was well guarded and respected, not to look like she had ill will towards the barbarians. She studied the strangers, their armor and weapons to learn more. At last, she took a step forward.
"If some of y'all need some help, I'm trained in first aid. If tha Capt'n's ok wif it, I'd like to do somethin' for ya."

Socrates eventually sat next to Shep, waiting out the net. While he waited, he did an Object Read on one of the guns, curious about their origins, and threat level to the team. (Also, Socrates never said to blow them up, right away, or to trade the Gatormen stuff, only the Lizardmen gear... Denial of use was first and foremost. )

The doctor just stays in the back and out of the way as this is not her area of expertise and knows that it is probably better if she stays quiet until needed.

Janxi watched her small partner leave her hiding spot. Still linked telepathically, she knew Tori was making a show of trust for the barbarians. She was right. The barbarians were wounded, and they were also seeming to help Shep. They were not an enemy, but they shared a common enemy with the CS.
The black jaglion stood up from her thicket, seeming to teleport in from nowhere. She paid no heed to Socrates or Shep, avoiding even a gaze in their direction. She moved up beside Tori and behind Sam, silently. She made it a point to move without sound, just to show the barbarians she was ever-so-ninja. Then, without making a flex pose, she used her bodybuilding training to look quite muscular. The barbarians needed to know exactly who and what had Sam's back.
She took a moment to appreciate the barbarian queen's physique. If she was a squish, then she was quite well trained. She looked for anything like a drug harness or bio comp, and made it a point to let the queen see she was appreciative of her muscles.

As the small barbarian chanted and the net disappeared, Shep stood with a sputter," No Soc, not Sploogie. The design is different. Never saw anything like these." They were unlike anything any of the team had seen.
The barbarian leader looked at Sam and the cats, " Why are dead boys in Blue Marlin territory?"

Tori looked up at Sam, waiting for her to answer. She wanted to show the barbarian queen that Sam was her peer on the Coalition side. Sam was the one to speak for the team.
She nodded in approval as Shep climbed to his feet and continued to remain aware of her surroundings. So far, so good, but diplomacy was for officers. She'd leave it to Sam.
