Ora shrugs and smiles as if the prospect of an ambush is amusing. "At least they took the money. Did you curse any of them?" Away in the distance they can see a man leaning against a tree waiting to lead them over the pass. "I prefer not to lie about things like that. I know a fair number of ways to curse people, and while I doubt I could do it in this dimension it's a kind of magic I prefer to avoid at the best of times. At any rate, it appears our guide is waiting, so we should get moving and see what happens."

Aki looks at the camels . . then moves to the leader and mounts up. the warbird moves along with them, snapping harmlessly at any that might get to close. Aki natters in Korean to the big bird 'oh be gentle big brother. these chicks know that you deserve your space. it is the long neck spitters that forget at times'
*the big bird raises its hackles in a threatening manner at a camel, and the beast obliges by slowing down and not getting closer. Aki can be heard laughing at the antics of both creatures. Yumi is curled up about the shoulders now and peering about and sniffing. she slithers down to the lap and settles down even as the bird with a mind of its own comes back and settles down and chitters about things. Aki rewards it with some chopped up snake meat.
*her eyes now watch the guide to study his actions

The guide seems distracted, glancing this way and that, but experienced characters can tell he is really trying to watch his back for knives as he leads them over the pass.
The path is steep and mountainous, a tiring struggle for the camels. The pass is near caves and fortifications, but their guide leads them wide around each of these areas. The bandits probably don't want anyone reporting on their defenses.
"So, where are you from?" The guide asks breathlessly after an hour of hiking.

Aki asks the guide. 'i no put knife in back. you plan on knife in back us?'
the mongoose turns about and then vanishes into the carry sack and peers out and chirps once then ducks out of sght. 'little sister say she not want knife in back. she look for barter no knife' Yumi pops up with some well nibbled dried snake meat and vanishes for a piece not as chewed on. Aki takes it and the camel moves up and the offer is made. the mongoose is now watching the guide with bright hunter's eyes
the old warbird's hackles raise as it looks about and the wings half flap. it chitters in an annoyed manner and Aki hands the dried meat to the guide and hte camel stops so the warbird gets into the lead spot and settles down. her face ripples with suppressed humor, but says little now

Bellephoebe more or less shrugs off the Guide's nervousness, figuring that if he's scared it's less likely he's going to try something. It's not like she's trying to build a long term relationship. She also figures a degree of mystique can't hurt.
She'll simply say "We're not from your world, and while we bear no ill will towards you we're attempting to leave." and leave it at that, refusing to answer any other questions about it.

The guide flinches at Aki's words, but he takes the dried snake meat, smells it a couple times and chews on it.
He nods at Bellephobe's words, but then stops confused, "How will you leave the world?" He is baffled.

Aki will wait until she can comment quietly to another party member out of the guides immediate hearing.
'guide nervous. give Aki feeling that knives in back may still come. be wary of back path, yes?'

Bellephoebe thinks to herself about how that is a REALLY good question given that she's been operating under the guidance of one of her comrades who has barely spoken in several months.
She opts instead to say
"That's complicated, but it requires us to be in the right place".
OOC-> Given that a lot of the other PCs, including the one giving guidance seem to be missing or totally silent, I'm not entirely sure of the specifics on how to accomplish this or even where we're going since someone else seemed to be calling the shots there. Group wise Bellephoebe is the 'newbie'.
That said, even under the circumstances of the dimension Bellephoebe might have a way of being able to get a dimension travel spell off. But I'll go into that if we don't wind up with some kind of plan before too long. I mentioned a mechanical way of perhaps being able to brute force through it before. It might fail, but as time goes on and I worry about the fate of the game I'm increasingly tempted to try it.

Telsa looks over at Allen, who has been silent since the great cat attacked. Perhaps he is experiencing culture shock from the lack of magic. Telsa says, '...we are looking for a crator or lake-bed. An empty basin. Within it is an ancient maze. That is the door for this key.' He recalls Allen's words.
The guide says, "Sounds like an odd place... I thought I knew this land all the way to the reach. What is a crator?"

Bellephoebe will answer "A Crater is a dent in the ground, like an impact mark as if something was to have hit the ground with great velocity. Like the hole you'd leave if you threw a grenade. The one we're looking for is rather large."

"So a place where the land is crushed, like a dent? With a maze? Hmm. There is a an old ruin with cliffs around it four days ride beyond the pass. I've seen it once or twice."
The guide looks around and picks a fork in the pass. "Landslides the other way, he explains."

"That sounds like it might be what we're looking for" Bellephoebe turns to Allen "You seem to be the one with the plan here, does that sound like the location your looking for? Do you think that is where we should head next?"

Aki stops her camel and gets it to settle down and moves to examine the trail they didn't pick. her sharp eyes will pick up any odd trails that shouldn't be there. horse tracks going one way and not coming out. how fresh they might be . . and other odd facts.
*she will try to see if the bloodhawk will scout up the trail for her. she will face the backtrail while waiting. she knows that the camel will return to the others once she remounts and lets it do as it will. she will gather a small pile of stones while waiting. she isn't thrilled that no one is listening to the possiblity of a back attack, and figures that this might be the spot if any

The path the guide indicated was closed by landslides has evidence of travel, but no fresh tracks or sign like horse droppings, which can be seen on the path they are on. The natives don't go the other way.
The bloodhawk agrees to scout ahead, and takes to the sky. It sails forward a bit, then returns to hover over the group. It can see a mile away, so it doesn't have to go far to scout. It is watchful, but Aki knows it would return if trouble threatened.
Allen doesn't seem to awake from his trance, still wandering forward in a daze. Tesla says, "He appears to be in shock. Here let me try this..." Tesla reaches out and touches Allen's stone key.
After a moment he says, "Yes, I think the guide is describing the right place, or one just like it." He switched to American so the guide can't understand them, "Should we ask for directions? Or hire him to take us the whole way?"
