" Renegade?" Coop mocked being insulted despite his smile. " Miscreant maybe, but not renegade. Hey, what do you mean, just before I met Sarah?" The smile faded as a pang stirred in his stomach. " You knew? The guild knew what mom was up to and didn't try to stop her until she was red handed and had dragged me into it?" His teeth ground together as he looked at Sarah, "I'll see you at home." Before anyone could stop him, he stormed off, needing some space to clear the sense of betrayal that was coming over him. Once he hit the front doors, he stopped on the stairs and sat down, his fingers locked behind his head and his elbows rested on his knees as confused thoughts churned in his head.

Sarah looks at Coop as he storms away, torn between wanting to follow him and letting him have his space. Turning to her dad, she hisses "Why did you have to say that?" Sarah takes a deep breath and then says "I have to go." She then runs in the same direction that Coop did, hoping she will be able to find him.

"It was because we couldn't... Coop! Just..." Moltavius sighs.
Before Sarah can leave, her father has his hand on her shoulder to wait. "We couldn't do anything. Until they actually tried the ritual, they were just a bunch of misguided yuppies. Our hands were tied. And we didn't know until he moved until his current place." He says, without turning her around. The guilt in his voice was unique, and she'ld only heard a couple of times, when things had gone very wrong and he couldn't stop it. "We put him in your sights because we figured you could help turn him around after the event." He hand slid off her as she walked off to find Coop, crouched in a stairwell.

Coop heard footsteps coming, but didn't look up as too many questions swirled in his head. The betrayal he felt made him question everything that had happened, and only made things worse. As the footfalls neared, he was sure he recognized them, and didn't want to vent his frustration on the wrong person. He never raised his head as he forced himself to watch his tone. " I told you I'd see you later. I thought the slayer would pick up on a blatant hint like that to steer clear." He looked up at Sarah, barely holding back the combination of upset frustration.

Sarah falters a bit but then walks up to Coop and sits next to him. "I just wanted to be here for you." she replies quietly. "To see if there was anything I could do."

" Be here for me, or keep an eye on me?" Coop spat out without thinking before he spoke. So much for keeping it to myself he thought, standing up and looking at her. " It's a little late to worry about helping isn't it? I mean your dad just all but let the cat out of the bag that the Guild knew what was in store for me and didn't care, as long as they stopped my folks." He stared at her for a long moment before a question formed on his lips," Did you..?" He couldn't bring himself to finish it, unsure how he'd react to the answer.

Sarah stiffens as she replies "Be here for you." She adds quietly, "I am not a spy for the guild or my father."
Sarah shakes her head. "When I met you, I had NO idea that your family was being watched by the Guild." she says emphasizing the word 'no' Sarah falls quiet before saying "And I would have done anything to have kept that from happening to you if I could have." Sarah looks up with a pleading look on her face, hoping that Coop will believe her.

Coop clamped both hands on his head, , both hands gripping a handful of hair in frustration. " I want to beleive you, but how can I? Now I understand why everyone was so understanding with me when I was brought in. I was the bait all along." His hands released and he started to throw a punch at the wall, pulling it just short," Arrrggh! I can't stay here. I gotta go...... anywheres but this place. " He blurted out, turning back to Sarah. " I... I don't know if I can keep doing this... " He quickly corrected," not us I mean, the monster hunting and crap. Not for the Guild at least. Not after they used me like cheese in a mousetrap."

"Well." Says Eleutheroi from down the stairs. His voice sounded different, still. "Now that you know. There's a few other facts, around it. YOu were never the cheese. Sadly. Cheese and pawns have some importance in a plot. That site where the ritual was formed was the cheese. You were... trapped in it. Tobrias still hasn't forgiven himself for what happened and how far it went. None of us have. They had hoped that introducing you to the Guild would help keep you stable in the time that followed. This is the only other revalation you'll hear from the event. So, stability will certainly come." Eleutheroi climbs the stairs. "Of course, you can go on being bitter and angry, or you can let it go."

Sarah pales when Coop says he doesn't think he can do this anymore, and the panic she feels is only alleviated a little when he clarifies what he meant. Nodding sadly, she says "I'll leave you alone then." She then leaves the stairwell and exits the guild, intending on heading home.

" No, Sarah, wait" Coop called after her as she laft. He turned to Eleutheroi. " I can't just let it go, not yet. Put yourself in my shoes and see what your answer would be." He replied as she disappeared, and his heart sunk. " We can talk about it later." He added, pounding down the stairwell. He ignored everyone that he crossed paths as headed out of the guild, running as fast as he could and called after her when he saw her. " Sarah? Sarah wait, please."
He never stopped running until he'd caught up and only stopped once he was in front of her, blocking her path. " I'm sorry, I never meant to imply I wanted you to leave. Hell, you're the only thing I've got left in my life." He took her hands in his, forcing a smile despite being clearly upset. " You know how much you mean to me. And I agreed to protect you all those months ago the first time we really met. Nothing will change that. Ever." He knelt down on one knee and looked up at her. " I love you too much for that, Sarah Lockhart. I planned to sneak off to the mall to get you a ring for this, but I never got chance. " He gulped. " If you'll have me, I promise to be yours and yours alone, no matter what life throws at us. And I promise to do whatever it takes to watch over and protect you as best I can, even if it means swallowing my pride when it comes to the Guild."

Sarah turns around with a worried look as Coop chases after her. She starts to tell him that she was just giving him the space he'd asked for when he takes her hands into his and kneels down.
As Coop talks her eyes grow wide and she smiles as her eyes grow shiny with unshed tears. Kneeling down, she hugs Coop and says "Of course I will. I love you so much." She kisses Coop and hugs him close. "And I promise to protect you as best as I can, and to be yours and only yours." Sarah chuckles softly as she adds, "I have to admit, I didn't see that coming."

Returning the embrace, Coop felt a huge weight lift as she accepted. He stood, smiling. " It would have been better if I had chance to get you a promise ring. That and something more romantic than a sidewalk." his smile faded." now all I have to do is figure out how to keep my promise. I was serious when I said I was done with the Guild. Tobrias can keep whatever those book were he made me turn in. I'll do this my way."

Sarah chuckles quietly and says "I think it was fine the way it was." Standing up, Sarah nods with a serious expression "I'll support whatever you decide to do and help you in any way that I can." Sarah slides her hand into his and smiles up at him. "We make a good team, so I know we'll be fine."

" Good, in that case you can teach me how to fight instead of just brawling and how to use the weapons that you have back home. That'll give me a place to start." Coop replied before grinning. " I might as well put my size to use. I mean you're the brains of this team. So it only makes sense for me to supply the brawn/ It's what I've always been good at anyways, I just need to apply it."
