Issue 9: Rise of the Apocalypse

As Tally released Tabitha, she curled into a ball, but instead of crashing into him, she used her powers to pass right through Apocalypse and land on the other side. Cap's shield hammered off Apocalypse, but the sound of the impact was wrong. Tabitha turned behind Apocalypse as he turned to face Cap, and she struck out at his back with a judo thrust that pierced his back. Her eyes were wide with terror," IT's a robot of some sort, with a bomb in it's chest! I've got the contacts blocked, but....," she looked up at the others, " get everyone out of here!"

Glory lowered to the ground, dumbstruck. " A bomb? But that would mean we were just bait?"

Gambit looked over at Glory, and grinned. An obvious grin, like the kind where you would actually be saying "Oh, you finally figured it out, did you?"

After the grin, he says, "Omega Red, Presence - as his normal self - and a super-crancky Creed, and you merely talked into it? You honestly think this is the work of Apocalypse?" Gambit had only just figured it out, but he would never tell Gory that. "And not the work of a lazy drama queen named after the smallest orange out there, eh?"

Turning to Blink, he says, "We need to send Apocalypse flying. Can you?"

Cap moves over to Tabitha, trying to see if he can disarm the bomb. "I'm not going anywhere. Let me get a closer look."

Tally too flies by and offers. "If you need be I can fly it away from here instead of disarming it?"

"I was thinking using a portal under it, so that Tabby could let go, it reappears elsewhere - that guy's castle we just visited, for example - and explodes there." Gambit says. "Fewer people get hurt that way, Cherie."

Spider-Man rushes over to the Apocalypse bomb and on the side that Ghostsaber wasn't on, he shot a 1'x1' net that strongly attached itself to the front of Apocalypse and created a 5 foot lead of web line. He hands it to Tally and says "If you're gonna fly...Fly into this."

"I can. One mile straight up.." she opened the portal under the robot by squirming to get a view around Sabertooth, "Open Sesame.." She loved the guy, but he made a better door than a window.

As Tabitha moved to one side, even in her metallic form she was gritting her teeth. Her hand was pinned between two large contacts that were trying to clamp shut. Fortunately the robot had shut down once the countdown was initiated. Tabitha looked at Cap," We both know there's only one way I'm getting out of this." She swallowed hard. " Get everyone clear, and hopefully my armor will be enough to protect me." She gritted her teeth as her hold on the robot was the only thing that kept it from dropping through Blink's portal. " Shut it down Blink, it won't work!"

Glory looked at Gambit, her confused stare betraying her stern face. " What are you talking about? Apocalypse himself approached me himself, along with that woman in the weird green outfit that opened the portal for us. There were no orange drama queens."

"They work for the drama queen." Gambit says. "Lady Mandarin."

With a gesture, he pointed to Tabby. "You see, we are not perfect. She's willling to put her life on the line, to help the rest of us. Even if it isn't the move that would help her survive." Turning back to Glory. "You, on the other hand, were so eager to survive, you got conned. Now, if you'll excuse me."

He walked over to Tabby, putting his hand on her shoulder. "Let it go." he says calmly. "It's just a thing. Let the portal take it."

"Sorry young lady, but I don't think I"m going to let that happen." The Sentinel of liberty will try to put his sheild between the contacts. His eyes are calm, but anyone who knew him closely might notice a telltale tremor in his eyebrows. His mind races back across the decades to a fateful day. A flying bomb, and another child who put themself in harm's way for the greater good to be unjustly rewarded. Never again. Cap's jaw clenched in determination.

OOC: Plan: port with bomb a milie up then have a portal open between he and the blast as she falls towards Spidey's web net..and if all works out blink lands safely in the net.

"I can port this bot faster than it can explode." she grimly added "I close that portal you lose an arm. Not about to do that I can port with the bomb and have you stay here."

"Spiderman get a net over there to catch me In case I can't port. I'll port above as high as I can with that." she points to the bomb, "and try and fall out of its blast range. I can put a portal between me and the blast that should divert the damage." she focused on the port.

"He can't be more than 1000lbs...I did that once..." she thought, "Alright lets see who's faster..."

Once Cap got close enough to look, he quickly understood why Tabitha wasn't willing to move her hand. she had prevented the bomb from exploding, but in the process she was now stuck.

She looked at Gambit and flashed a goofy smile he'd seen her father do countless times, " I wish I could, Cajun, but to get out I think I'm gonna have to tear the mechanism out. And surely that will set it off. Please, get everyone else to safety."

"What if I blow it up, first?" Gambit asked, looking over he shoulder. "I hear tell a nuclear bomb isn't a bomb if you blow it up, first."

Tally not being sure what she can do here, her only power copied being radiation. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

[Dome]

DD holds up Hawkeye and listens to what everyone is saying. He tries to think of what he could offer to help but drawing a blank holds his tongue.
