Two months after your encounter with the Void Whales and the Errasa, and with your first pieces of alien technology (if only the designs provided by the Errasa) and some of the Trogolo refugees, the Victory has returned to Seeron for resupply and crew rotations.
(Fuse, Upho and John Rosman)
Captain Jhon Roben is a hard looking man in his mid-50s, dressed in the black and silver uniform of the Seeronian Space Services and standing 5'10". His head is completely shaved, and a metal cylinder protrudes from where his right ear used to be, and a series of spider-web scars branching out from the region, giving him an even more weathered and craggy look (PB: 9).
Next to him is the Victory's XO, the Epoch Rider and Talus Biofreak Major Valyr Trokyr. The 6'10" Talus Bio-Freak has red skin and black lines that resemble tattoos marking his skin. Black bone spurs jut out of his shoulders, elbows, knees and knuckles, and he has rows of short black horns that from a distance resemble hair. He wears a custom-built uniform of the same style as the Captain's, but he also has a small red metal broach on the left side of his uniform. His build is powerful even by Talus standards, and his eyes glance over the group of soldiers assembled on Spacefield's marching grounds.
Lt. Reenok (Fuse) is next to Trokyr, and has been asked to help with the inspection.
Captain Robhen speaks up, his voice carrying authority (MA:24) "I am Jhon Roben, commander of the Victory and the first extra-system mission to find allies in our war against the Ninth-damned Tarloks, and if you're here, that means you're my crew. The rules are simple - you perform at the absolute best of your abilities, and you may live. Perform even better than that, and our civilization lives past the end of this decade. If that sounds too tough for you, you can walk out that gate and start the job of digging the mass graves for you, and your family, and anyone you give a goddamn about. Those are the stakes."
"If you're part of my crew, that means you represent the planet, not just a part of it." His eyes focus on some of the Epoch riders in the group, still wearing the red armor and capes of their former offices. "And it means you obey me, my orders, as if they were issued directly from the mouth of God. I will tolerate nothing less."
"You've been selected to be part of this mission because you are the best, and I don't need to tell you that, nor do I have the time to do so. You'll be hitting vacuum by the end of the week, so consider that your reward - you get to go further than just about anyone from the system. You'll see wonders and terrors you can't imagine yet, and we'll do our best to bring home the only thing that matters: a way to win."
The Captain turns away. "Alright, enough with the pep talk. Major, who's top of the roster for today?"
The massive biofreak intones. "1st Lt. Fegh for Ship's Operations and a 2nd Lt. Rosman for Field duties."
The Captain looks to the crowd. "Fegh! Rosman! Step front!"
(Kiadan)
Kiadan is in the military lab at the same base, going over some of the Errasa data with the science and reverse-engineering teams.
(Balus and Krystal)
Balus and Krystal are both about to leave base. Krystal, you've just gotten the keys and designation for your apartment in the Victory Gardens (you were assigned one) and you've been meaning to check it out. Balus was thinking of looking in on his family when he sees Krystal.
