"I dunno, XO. If it's a freak village in Tolkien that got napalmed, I ain't gonna shed a tear on that," Tori purred softly. Air power was an awesome thing and most grunts loved to see bombs fall for good effect on target, from a safe distance, that was.
She unwrapped the dinosaur meat she grabbed from the chow hall and took a few pieces for herself, passing the rest to Janxi. With a few dashes of chipotle sauce, she dug in with zeal. A cat could never have too much meat, and hot chow was just too little and far between out in the field. The food went quickly.
Her mind went on. If the sub was at sea, it might be difficult for the team to either be lowered in the harness or to rappel to the boat's sail. High winds would make it a serious challenge. The idea of lowering a line from a helo to a boat during a storm was akin to raising a lightning rod. The helo's rotors would create a lot of static. She was pretty sure she and Janxi could swim if they had to helocast, but the rest of the team was suspect, to say the very least. She was trying to trust the operation, but nagging questions remained. Hopefully, the sub would launch from a mother-ship. Something nice and big, like the Chi-Town
Tori began to remove her armor. Right then and there, she decided her CA-4 was not the ideal suit for the operation. With all pieces removed, she pulled the vibro-claw bracers off the "Skull suit." In a set of UDT shorts and a wife-beater with the "Black Cat Fireworks" logo, she packed the armor into storage configuration.
From beneath the seat, she pulled out her second armour box, and a CNA-2 "dive suit." The suit was much lighter than the CA-4. While it offered less protection, it was ideal for diving, and didn't rattle like a CA-4. It had better optics, and still sported naval digital woodland camouflage. She seemed to dress in it in seconds. Though CS Naval issue, the armour lacked the usual skull helmet. It looked more like a Triax suit than CS because of that, though the shoulders still bore a skull design, beneath the camo. She kept that piece on her lap and hung her swim fins from her ruck-sack. Over the top of the suit, she wrapped it in her "chicken suit" a set of 3D camouflage strips that broke up her silhouette. She returned her boonie hat to her head and packed away the heavy armour. Her LBG, ammo pouches, shotgun bandoliers and knives returned to their spots on her boot and belt. The vibro-claws strapped back onto her forearms. Her bow case and quivers fitted back onto her rucksack, and her sidearm and rifle went back to holster and sling.
All this without even leaving her seat. What the kittens did not take with them, would be there when they got back. Or else they could draw a new issue if needed. For this hop, aquatic mobility and stealth were paramount. The CNA-2 was as good as it got.
