CH 16: Moving on... (Mai and Kendall)

[Dome]

Kendall nods and watches her fall asleep quickly. Turning to Charger he says, "you see what you did. Now I'll have to carry her to bed." He walks over to the fridge and grabs a bottle of beer. He flicks off the bottle cap with a quick thumb motion, "want one?"

[Renekin Skywalker]

"I did that?" Charger asks, looking up at Mei on the couch. "No, wait, I didn't. The GM never gave me sleeping powers." He looks out to the proverbial audience (ie. off in the distance but focused). "Or did he?" After a pause, he turns back to Kendall. "No, he really didn't. You did that to her by dragging her around to fancy restaurants."

"And no beer. Gives you a gut." He adds.

"Now then, I'm here because you're going way too far. All the GM wanted was for you to take her under your wing, and now you're wholly gaga over her." Charger says. "Tell me how you think that's right."

[Dome]

Kendall shrugs, "I never planned on this. But now I'm here, and I think I like it. Your "GM"(and he makes the air quotes) is all powerful or something, supposedly pulling strings and making people do what he wants nudging their lives in one direction or another, he must have seen this coming right? Or maybe there is no such thing and people are free to make their own way in life. Have you thought about that? And if that's the case, your simply breaking and entering since no one but you is driving your decisions."

Kendall pauses and takes a sip of his beer. He looks at Charger with a serious expression, "I did what you wanted, granted it may not be in the way you wanted, or expected. So what do you want me to do now?"

"To smarten up." Charger snips. "What did Billy Bishop show you to prove he was legit?"

[Dome]

"Who the hell is Billy Bishop? I haven't met anyone by that name," Kendall says.

[Renekin Skywalker]

"The GM's 10-foot-tall lizardman nod to the absurdity of Marvel comics? I mean, come on, sure the Thor similarity is veiled, but you can't have missed the coming-back-from-the-future-to-save-it tripe." Charger shakes his head. "If I didn't have such a snappy red and black outfit to wear, I'ld be very annoyed, right now. You don't have one, you can be annoyed for me."

And he grunts. "And now, I've just been edited..."

[Dome]

"You mean William? Thought you would be able to tell me if he was legit or not. Your boss being all knowing and all that," Kendall says walking around the counter dropping down into a chair.

"He showed us documents that seemed legit. Even if he isn't, its not like he is trying to get us to take over the world. Stopping a possible zombie attack seems important."

After a pause and a sip of beer, "you know you probably wouldn't be edited if you just said what you meant from the get."

[Renekin Skywalker]

"Go. Get go." Charger says, amending Kendall.

"And what the GM knows and what I know are different things. Do you know where your player lives?" He counters.

"Either way. I'm just here to tell you to smarten up about things. Also, by the way, I suspect that the future is set. So I'ld take whatever William says as gospel." Charger explains. "GMs have a way."

[Dome]

"I know what I said, and you knew what I meant," Kendall says taking exception to being corrected by a masked man talking about players and GM's. "Could you be anymore cryptic? What Player? So do you want me to trust William or not? Your talking in circles here man. Give it to me straight or get out," Kendall says obviously frustrated.

[Renekin Skywalker]

"And Charger walked out of the apartment." Charger said.

And Charger walked out of the apartment.

[Dome]

Kendall shrugs, "Guess he didn't want to give it to me straight," he says into the air. He puts his beer down, walks over to Mei. He brushes the stray hairs from her face. He then picks her up and carries her to the bedroom, putting her down and then tucking in the sheet around her.

Kendall stops at the door looking back at her for a moment. He smiles then leaves the room closing the door behind him. He lays down on the sofa and thinks over what Charger said, he tries to figure out what he was talking about, but not getting the point he tries to shrug it off. If the future is set, then no matter what they do the zombies will attack.

The next morning! Wednesday! Very soon, Kendall would find out if William really was legit.

Mei stretches out and wakes up. The crappy feeling had finally passed and she felt much better. Realizing she was a pain and Peter is not quite up yet she tries to move around the house as silently as possible using her flight so as not to wake him up. Heading out a window she heads to the closest, Dunken doughnuts and heads in ordering some doughnuts and coffee for Peter with cream and sugar on the side.

She is still in her PJ's while doing this and skips all the way to his place before flying up the other end and into the window. She puts the goodies on the table and heads out to sun herself.
