Blink's javelins teleport away much of one of the Cardinal's armor, including his helmet, but he'll try to zap you with an energy bolt (As per spell - dodge must be an 18 or higher)

Gambit's opponent wades in with his energy blade. "DIE FOR THE MAGUS!"

Rocket Raccoon reloads his gun as he looks at Blink. "Just about ready to go, get our exit ready!"

"I AM GROOT!" Groot bellows as he tears a cardinal in half.

"That's tellin'em your majesty!" Rocket Raccoon cheers the giant on.

Sabretooth and X-23 now find themselves back-to-back facing a legion of Cardinals as the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy try to wade in from the outside.

Mantis sets a Cardinal ablaze spontaneously, as Bug leaps over and drop kicks another. Major Victory sends his shield flying, riccocheting off a half dozen helmets before returning to his arm.

Gamora removes the hands off a spellcasting opponent with a single slash as she rolls through the Cardinals, and Drax removes his blades from the corpse of the Cardinal before leaping into the fray.

"Save some for the rest of us, fuzzballs." Drax smirks.

"You know, I hate this cosmic stuff normally. But this? This I could get used to!" as he lands a haymaker punch that knocks a cardinal clean into three of his companions, knocking them all the to the floor.

"You cannot defeat me! I AM THE MAGUS!" A glow of horrific energy rips through Thanos and Martyr, visibly weakening them both enough for Magus to get free, just as he is blinded by Tally's shot.

"AHHH! You will pay for that, brat!" The sword is telekinetically wrenched from Thanos' back and goes hurtling at Tally

A natural 20 with an energy sword can't be good...

Gambit, spotting the attack, desprately parries with his Bo Staff, and simul reaches forward, charging the warrior's helmet (or, failing that, breastplate).

"I don't die for anyone, mon ami." He whispers in his foe's ear.

The parry: [dice=20]+7= 17 - fails the NAT 20.

The strike on the helmet attack: [dice=20]+7 = 24
Damage on the charge: [dice=6] +[dice=6] = 6

Tally levels another blast still trying to hit his head in hopes of knocking him out.

"Hold on, almost... got it," Cal pants. Her face strained from concentrating upon the spell. "I think," she mumbles to herself.

" Logan wouldn't know which one of our asses to kick first if he caught us working together like this." The cardinal's energy blade cuts through Gambit's defenses and slashes a long arc across his chest, defeating whatever armor was there to protect him. As Gambit falls, Rocket Raccoon opens fire with both pistols on the Cardinal at point blank range.

The Cardinal tries to dodge, but is splattered across the bulkhead by the automatic weapons fire.

"That's what you get for bringing a sword to a gunfight." Rocket Raccoon then turns his attention the wounded Gambit. "D'ast - GROOT! Medic needed! Let's bail out of here!" He holsters his pistols and takes out his detonators, and then shouts at Blink. "Alright Pinky - I'm setting off the ones on outer bulkhead - We are bugging out back to base!"

"I AM GROOT!" The floral colossus gently picks up the wounded X-man and begins to excrete a soothing salve from his palms.

Rocket Raccoon calls his passport and the portal back to Knowhere opens. "Out we go!" Groot rushes through with Gambit, and Rocket Racoon waits for Blink to go through before making a last look around.

"I hope the mutt is recording this back home - I really do love to see my work." as he hits the detonator.

The entire structure is rocked around, and the Cardinals quake and quiver; their confidence replaced by abject confusion as their mystic auras dissappear entirely. Drax and Gamora take immediate advantage of their newfound vulnerablity by carving a bloody swath to X-23 and Sabretooth.

Mantis and Bug look at each other and simultaneously issue the same knowing remark. "Rocket. Raccoon."

Jack Flag whoops as he executes a mid air somersault to bowl over a half dozen Cardinals. "Awesome! Does that mean we get to go home now?"

Major Victory replies in a chilling tone. "That depends on Starlord's team now."

"NOOOOO!!!! IT'S MY TIME! MY TIME! I WAS MEANT TO RULE!" The Magus cries as a stream of golden energy leaps from Mimic to the Magus, restoring Mimic to her original appearance and power levels.

Thanos wrenches the sword from his chest and tosses it to the ground.

"It is done."

Martyr revives Moondragon and holds her intimately energy begins to ripple across the throne room and errupts in streams and torrents of crackling power, the sound of which wakes Starlord. "Oh hell. Rocky - what did you do this time?" He hits his communications device. "Guardians! Exiles! We need to get out of here! STAT!"

He triggers his passport device to Knowhere. "Last call people! Time to move out."

Starlord goes the form of The Magus to find that his purple skin has become golden again. Starlord's helmet mask retracts and he smiles.

"Adam....good to have you back." as he picks him up, he turns to Tally, Mimic and Thanos. "Alright you kids, let's...." His eyes widen in shock. "D'ast me."

Standing next to Thanos is an ominous silent figure identifable only by a purple robe, the face of which is completely obscured by the hood. Nevertheless, everyone, EVERYONE can feel the presence of DEATH

(Tally and Mimic must save vs. HF of 19, the rest of you, and I mean EVERYONE, has to roll vs. HF of 14 because you can feel the presense of Death on the ship)

" What's the matter, X, was I distracting you? Or can't you do two things at once?" Creed said, wiping a hand acrossed the slice down his torso and snarled as it came back bloodied due to the Cardinal's blade.

With only 20 HP left to his name, Gambit does not feel so hot.

"Your a charmer. "she goes through the portal. Once through she finds a spot to sit and ponders what she could be doing if life were normal. she looked at Gambit before going through.

Creed was right they had no idea if they could fully trust these people...but it the only hop they had...Now the team would find out if these people could really be trusted.[rand=8752758522432353193528584117250829458691223960869677128058030011]

"Did it!" Cal shouts triumphantly. "I be good an he be bad!" In the middle of her mock celebration she stops shivering. "Wha..." turning to look in the direction of Thanaos she can't help but freeze in terror.

For standing behind the dark robed lady is her family. Cal sinks to her knees and simply stares at the figures, ignoring everyone but those who passed before her.[rand=207414932471896461789007196947742891525323520069251589811014986574]

Gambit, regaining some consciousness from the shock of being so nearly mortally wounded, looked down at the cardinal's handiwork. "Rogue is gonna kill me." He sighs, his voice raspy. "I promised no more scars."

Groot carries the wounded Gambit to Knowhere's infirmary, where Cosmo responds in psi-speak Do not be worryink. Knowhere doctors are best in whole quadrant. No scarink.

"I AM GROOT!"

Exactly. Groot is excellent doctor.

On the viewscreens and holoprojections Blink can see the Templeship collapsing. Rocket Raccoon whistles. "I love this job."

The Guardians all shivver in fear, but Jack is the first to speak. "I'm just guessing that this is the part of the movie where we get the hell out of here?"

Mantis responds cooly. "That would be correct. Standby as I authorize passport access to return us to Knowhere."

Bug snipes. "By all >tic< means take your >tik< time!"

"Phyla! Get these kids out of here!" Starlord grabs Tally by the hand to drag her into the teleportal. Phyla picks up the shellshocked Cal, and turns to Thanos. "Come on!"

Thanos smiles and looks at Death. He removes her hood, revealing the face of skull with glowing eyes. He then kisses her.

Starlord remarks. "And that is now the most wrong thing I have ever seen."

The gravely wounded Thanos turns to the others, fully in Death's Embrace

"Go. Thanos of Titan...is free."

"O...K." As Starlord pulls Tally away.
