Blink, Gambit, Rocket Raccoon and Groot are in an empty corridor. Rocket motions to a pillar. "There's a load bearing bulkhead." as he starts placing explosives on it.

Drax, Gamora, Mantis, Sabretooth, X-23, Jack Flag, Bug, and Major Victory are in large hall of worship with a high vaulted arched ceiling of gold, filled with golden Ankhs....and then you notice that the hall is filled with the menacing battle-hardened Cardinals of the Church of Universal Truth (see below)



"DEATH TO THE INFIDELS!"

Bug starts spinning his staff. "I QUIT!" as he polevaults towards them. "No amount of cred or babe is worth this."

Jack cracks his knuckles. "Suit yourself, me, I'm gonna enjoy this." as his first punch sends a cardinal hurtling into a wall.

All that can be heard from Drax is a loud howl as he leaps at a cardinal with his knives extended and cuts out his heart before they hit the ground.

Gamora's blade flashes as she slices off the hand of the nearest cardinal. "Hit them fast before they can magic us!"

Mantis sighs. "Crude and brutal, but effective planning I suppose." as she observes the battle with Major Victory standing as her bodyguard.

The Throne room is huge, golden, and centered around the raised dias where the Magus sits.

He looks at the group that materializes in - Mimic, Aura, Starlord, Thanos, Martyr, Moondragon, and clicks his tongue and sighs. "Peter, Peter, Peter; do you really think you're going to have any better luck this time?"

Starlord's response comes in the form of a hail of bullets from his pistols, that deflect off of the Magus' mystic forcefield

Gambit hands RR the explosives he'll need as they prepare to blow the pillar. "What about the ship's propulsion. Can we blow that?" He asks, calmly.

Cal feeling, more often than not, lost in the entire super hero action looks at the enemy and with a sigh begins to move forward till she's within range to absorb his power. "Oh I hope his powers are easy to use like that rock guys."

Rocket Raccoon nods. "Yeah,, but I want to blow out chunks of the outer hull to draw attention there before we go to some place heavily defended like the main drive." He relays the next set of co-ordinates to Blink as he finishes setting the first set of charges. "OK, let's go."

The cardinals attack the team in hall (everyone must roll to parry this strike) with their mystic energy blades flashing

Starlord sighs as his guns empty. "D'ast, and this worked so well last time."

Cal (Mimic's) skin turns bright golden as her features become stronger and more muscular and lithe (PB:19)

The Magus sees Cal's transformation. "A mimetic - that's almost a clever strategy, Peter. If I still had my old, more physical powers, at any rate. But against magic, it will not be quite as helpful." He gestures as mystic sigils of energy flow around him and condense, sending a giant fireball at Phyla. "Oh, and don't think I forgot you and your deathblade, my dear."

Cal's absorption of Magus's magical abilities is quickly overshadowed by the firestorm he whipped up.

"Oh, he's good," she marvels as the energy washes over her. "Forcefield?! Arctic Mist?!"

Blink, Gambit, Groot and Rocket Raccoon are in the engine matrix - a large iron caldron filled with glowing golden crystals. Rocket Raccoon is planting charges along the caldron when three Cardinals enter and draw weapons, but not before Groot seizes one and beings battering him against the wall.

"I AM GROOT"

The Cardinals begin hovering over the group and chanting, streams of energy linking between them.

"This is probably >tik< bad." Bug quivers.

"Hit them hard, and use only kinetics." Mantis leaps up and executes a perfect double flying kick to knock out two opponents.

"If it means another peek up that >tik< skirt, I'll fight them using my >tik< tongue." Bug swings his staff at one, as Major Victory slings his shield, and Jack Flag picks up Gamora and Drax.

"I like the way you think rookie." Drax smiles as he's tossed up to the battle mages.

Drax rips a Cardinal in half while Gamora smoothly decapitates another. Gamora sighs. "There we go."

Starlord and Moondragon are stunned by Magus's firestorm

A litany of strange alien phrases ring in Mimic's head, and unbidden, she repeats them, causing the flow of time to warp around her (as per the Time Slip spell). Quickly, you must act as I say or all is lost! You must concentrate! A strong male voice speaks inside Mimic's head.

Phyla charges at Magus, who tries to deflect and then steal her sword.

Aura having copied the energy releases it back at the source. "You know I have never encountered this type of energy before! Let us see what it does.

Tally aims at this individual not sure what energy will come out or what it will do.

Creed looked at X-23," Did your old man teach you anything about baseball?" He grinned and then picked her up and tossed her at the largest group of Cardinals. Gambit grins. "He is Groot, mon ami." He says to the other cardinals, with at least a little charm (impress: [dice=100]). Hoping the little racoon knew what he was doing, Gambit turned his attention to the other cardinals. "If you choose to stay, it means you mustn't have much faith in the power of your leader." He says, taking a chance, and applying the Sutherland velvet. [Trust: [dice=100] ]. "I heard he can do anything, really." [more trust: [dice=100] ] "So, if you don't think he can fix this, and you have to do it yourselves, you mustn't have much faith, right?" (still more trust: [dice=100]) "But, if you do have faith in your leader, you should show it by letting him handle us."
