Ch 10: Not all Mad Scientists Wear Labcoats Pt2

[Renekin Skywalker]

"With the entrance buried underground." Said the colonel. "What good would a direct assault do?"

"When is the next opportunity to try?" Asked the dragon (though still in human form).

[dakota]

" Uh yeah, probably." Coop replied to Bianca. He turned to the colonel. " With all do respect sir, but with the details this thing already has, it has a way in already. We need to find that way and plug it."

He looked at the dragon, " We only have a couple days to prepare."

[Renekin Skywalker]

"Well, if the person has not been within the pyramid before, it would make sense for them to dig out the door." the dragon said. "So, an increased line of troops all around the pyramid would be useful."

The colonel nodded. "We'll get on it." He looked around, all of a sudden realizing he was out of his element in this, though he certainly understood the holding action the dragon had implied.

"Anything else?" Rozatonosky asked.

"Nothing the police would like, I'm sure." Eleutheroi says, grinning. "I'll visit a collection I know about to help us out."

Tobrias looks at the room then the Slayers, and before Rozatonosky can object, says, "Sarah, Zachery, do you want us to include the magic users with the Colonel's troops? We would not be able to fit withint the pyramid."

[Mierin]

Sarah nods at Tobrias as she says "Having more magic users would surely be a good thing to strengthen our defenses."

[dakota]

Coop nodded in agreement. " Just how many people can we get inside the pyramid before it gets to be too many? We need to pick wisely there since it's our last line of defense."

[Renekin Skywalker]

"I would not put a soul in there,myself." the Dragon says. "Even one, with a misplaced shot, can wreak havoc."

"Maybe half a dozen." TObrias says after that. "I will make some calls, and try to seal off the structure better."

Rozatonosky takes a deep breath. "Will we need to call a state of emergency?"

[albatross]

Bianca speaks up, "Hmmm, I suppose a ward of mystic energy drain would probably cause collateral damage.... But I can put a ward over the entire entrance to keep evil at bay. It will have a time limit of course, but it could buy time for guards to concentrate their attacks."

She digs some bee's wax out of her bag and tries to size up the entrance, it it is small enough, she could make an area ward.

"I can also make a protection from magic circle for those inside the pyramid," she adds. Again she wonders how big the circle would need to be, she doesn't want to pass out from blood loss or anything, but she should be able to create a circle to shield half a dozen in a few minutes or less.

"Alright. I will bring you in when we get the Stone mason." Tobrias sais. "Zachary, Sarah, any judgement on the state of emergency?" He added curious to see how they would handle it.

[dakota]

" We definitely don't want to set off a panic throughout the city." Coop replied." That would work against us, but I'm not sure if keeping it from the public is the right thing to do."

[Mierin]

Sarah nods at Coop. "I agree. Part of me does think it would be a good idea, but I also don't want to cause a panic among the people of the city. Can we call a state of emergency but keep it quiet to only key military people? Or is that not feasible?"

[Renekin Skywalker]

"It is possible." Rozatonosky said. "We can make it a "military training action."

"I will handle the Ley Lines." Tobrias says. "We have some classic TV movies we have been running to get the population ready for it, but it was planned for a generation from now... "

"All the cultural controls and it's the world that throws the curve." Crynn'Jol said, dather snidely. His opinion of the Guild controlling the way people think of magic was very well known. So well known, that the arguement played itself out in the seconds of silence that followed.

"If there is nothing else." Tobrias says. "We need to prepare, and quickly."

[dakota]

Coop nodded in agreement. " then it's a plan. " He turned to Sasah," Now we just have to get ready for a fight with a friend." he said sadly.

The dragon (still in human form) walks over to Bianca. "Well, I will take you into the pyramid while Tobrias finds the Stone Master. What items do you need?"

Eleutheroi walks over to Sarah and Coop. The other Botufas were talking with TObrias and the drummer from the I Don't Knows, goes by the name of John Moe, walks over. "Imports?" He asks Eleutheroi.

"Imports." He nods. "To the band van!"

Bianca soon prepared, found herself teleported back into the pyramid. The dragon looked around nostalgically. "I remember when they built this engine." He says.

Moitai, John, Wendy, and Barry all joined Eleuheroi, Coop and Sarah in the band's van. Moitai speeds off. "There's something you should know." Eleutheroi says. "While we've been chasing Old Ones, theses guys have been keeping the Vampires in check for us. Also, it turns out, Moe, here, has been making backroom deals with the Minotaurs. The military doesn't know.

"And they don't need to." Barry says, sounding important. "We have been behind the scenes until now."

They arrived at the band's practice space. After removing a false wall, the group found themselve facing a small cache of TW weapons, including mostly swords and a few ranged weapons, and armours and grenades, etc.

Moe grins. "Kid in a candy shop, right?"

[dakota]

" Right." Coop said staring at the weapons cache, then turning to El. " So this is why you've been interested in the info I had on the bloodsuckers, but kept shying us away from them?"

[Renekin Skywalker]

Eleutheroi grins. "Spins in everyone's midst. Leave it to the Fayde. Now, everyone gear up. Montrose was never a violent man, but whatever it has become now, it's not Montrose. Understood?" He reached in and picked up a large enchanted Claymore, packing it into a satchel, and headed for some body armour.
