Ch 8. Further Investigations Pt1 (The Team)

[Renekin Skywalker]

Troubleshooter, Power Armour, Sock Puppet Man, Tharsis, Arcadian and Windchill all regroup after coffee in a meeting room at the precinct with Karson.

At the meeting, the following facts are expunged:

- Kendall was held for questioning, and search, through probable cause (stalking a Centurion). Formal charges of unlawful experimentation, etc., were not layed.
- Kendall has stronger-than-normal ties to the Regault Foundation, beyond what would have been expected for a client/contractor. He even summoned a lawyer.
- Kendall was originally looking into New Tech and an engineer named Otis McPhee regarding advanced nano-cybernetics. Possibly on Regault's payroll.
- Kendall was 'delivered' to the police by being given Power Armour's information. The person responsible for this and their motivations is unknown.
- Kendall's work may be a smoke screen.
- Further investigation into New Tech and Regault are warranted. Kendall is a contractor, to be watched.

"... Did I miss anything?" Troubleshooter asks, delivering the summary. that begins this chapter.

"So, you're going to follow up on these leads?" Karson says. "Who's going to follow whom?"

[kurff]

"I think New Tech and Regault should be checkd by people who speak 'business', A more in-depth backgound Kendal would seem needed as well. Maybe where he aquired his augmentations is a start." the magician offered.

[dakota]

Tharsis shrugged at Arcadian." That leaves me out. I could always go in to watch Kendall. He has no idea what I normally look like."

[Renekin Skywalker]

"We could follow Kendall." Karson says, "but I think their target should be the priority. If Kendall can be so easily dropped in our hands, then they don't know where New Tech is. Or this McPhee."

Troubleshooter looks over at Karson. "We shouldn't ignore Kendall." He says.

"Don't worry." Karson says. "The mood he was in when he left, I doubt he's going to run to Regault first thing in the morning. We can track his activities through the work he does anyways."

"I wouldn't worry about corporate discussions at the moment." KArson adds. "Who's for beating the streets to find New Tech?"

[Mierin]

Miranda shrugs at Karson. "I can do that if no one else wants to."

[kurff]

"Ditto here. I've been meaning to buy a new PC for the houses." he grins, "What's approach? I doubt your average Joe knows or cares about them. A PC gamer or Tech-head might know. I heard you mention an implant of some kind for PC games?" he looked at PA.

[dakota]

Tharsis shrugged," I guess we're going on a tech hunt then."

[Renekin Skywalker]

"I though all you young people loved the high-tech stuff." Karson says, chuckling. "Look, we can protect the target, or arrest the perpetrator. I'ld like to do both, but until there's a crime, we can't. So, we protect the target."

"I'm sure he can't be too hard to find." Says Power Armour. "I mean, he was at E3. It's no like a front company gets a booth, there."

[dakota]

Tharsis looked at Karson. " I was studying to be an anthropologist. I like digging in the dirt with my bare hands, not henpecking at a keyboard."

[kurff]

"Okay, then we go with people's skills. I've some contacts with charities. Most large companies like to donate and deal with them, PA and someone else can check the Technical angle and a more direct approach won't hurt either. The company must have some sort of public records." he thought out loud.

"I'm guessing the company boss likes art, Tharsis you can help on the records check up. If he bought any artifacts your background will help there." he added.

"Did I miss any thing other that missing Homeless thing I saw on the news or something.." he looked Trouble-Shooter.

"I don't see the homeless newsbites to be a relation to New Tech." Troubleshooter says. "He's not known for putting money into shelters." (Though, how very fourth-wall breaking to mention it. ) "I also have no idea what he likes. He might like betting Quatloos on space-age gladitorial fights, for all we know."

"Classic." PA says in awe.

"But, heavens to betsy, this is getting confusing. If we have the fellow's name, won't he have some kind of address?" SPM asks.

"Good point." TroubleShooter says. "We'll find one, then Tharsis, Windchill and SPM will track it down. Meanwhile, Arcadian, PowerArmour and I will follow up on this gaming front."

[kurff]

"Homeless? right I'm just thinking the cover I used. My thinking is a company that big donates somewhere...It might be a good lead." he shrugged.

(And get quinn out the way...LOL!)

"New Tech?" Troubleshooter asks. "Big? If Kendall couldn't find it, it can't all that big."

[dakota]

" Could it be NewTech is just a front name for another corporation?" Tharsis suggested, fidgeting a bit with his folded wings starting to get uncomfortable.

[Mierin]

Miranda nods at Tharsis. "It's possible that's the case." she tells him. Looking puzzled, Miranda asks him, watching him fidget "Why stay in winged form if it's so uncomfortable and not really needed right now?"
