The Demon Locust touched down on the pad outside the CSOG base, and immediately the elevator began to drop the copter to the subterranean hangar. A medical team was standing by at the base of the elevator as it stopped, waiting for Shep. So was a single man,in his sixties and uniformed. As Norrin slid the side door open, he paused," Holy crap, that's General Sykes!"
With his arms folded patiently behind his back, the commanding officer of CSOG stood silently staring at the new arrivals.

Mary's head wheeled around, seeing Sykes, almost thinking it was her father. With a sigh, she steps out, falling in next to Sam, quietly, and at attention.

Upon seeing the General, Sam immediately gets out of the helicopter and salutes him, stands at attention as she waits for the others to do the same.

McCain climbs out of the helo and comes to attention attempting to look halfway decent in his non-issue armor.

Sykes returned the salutes, his eyes shifted to the med team unloading Shep. " Relax people, you've done well bringing that old war horse home in one piece. I wanted to be here to congratulate and thank you. Carson and I go way back. I'm ordering all of you to take some downtime before checking in with the colonel. I suggest some sleep and cleaning up." He noticed the equipment and armor each had, particularly Marianna's highly illegal Naruni weapon, and smirked," I also recommend you don't tell anyone where you obtained the new toys. dismissed." He saluted again and followed the gurney.
" LT, is there anyone Shep doesn't know?" Dyson asked from the second row with Rhys and Norrin.

Sam turns to face the others and smirks quietly "Apparently not." she replies to Dyson. To everyone, she says "Well, you heard the General. Go get cleaned up and get some sleep. You've definitely earned it. Good work everyone." Grabbing her gear, she adds "I'll be in my quarters if anyone needs me." Sam then heads off towards her quarters.

Mariana follows Sam's lead. As she heads out, she hands the Naruni gun and remaining Ammo to Sykes. "Research and infiltration purposes, General." She says. "Not for personal use. Doesn't feel as good as the human makes." With a quick salute, she heads off to her own room.

McCain first stop is to the armory tto get rid of his non-reg equipment and get his original kit back. Then on to a shower, food and sleep.

after a few hours...
[Sam]
The room intercomm chimed to life, followed by Colonel Wallace's voice. " Luietenant, I want you in my office. ASAP" There was no waiting for a reply as the line went dead.
[Mar]
A knock came at the door. " Sarge, you there?" Dyson asked from the hallway. " shep's awake and asking for you. The doc's asked me to come find you before he tears the infirmary apart."
[McCain]
A loud conversation between unfamiliar voices stirred McCain awake.
" You sure?"
Yeah, Vasser from maitenance told me. We're going back into Sung's turf."
" How long before we ship out?"
" Not sure, but I heard that there was a bunch of squad going ..."
the rest of the conversation was muffled as they moved away.

Sam sighs quietly and she gets up and ties her back into a braid and quickly dresses in her uniform. She heads over to the Colonel's office and knocks on his door. Once she's been acknowledged, she walks into the office and salutes the colonel and asks "You wanted to see me, sir?"

Mariana gets out of bed and gets dressed. Opening the door, she looks at Dyson. "He can wait." She says, closing the door. Leaning against it, her mind drifts to how wonderful it'll be when she can finally escape Shep's idea of a good conversation.

" I know you've been working with Trassk, but I never expected you to start acting like him." Col. Wallace replied, returning the salute. " I just found out that Lt. Norrin's flight picked you up on the way back here. A fact that Thomas neglected to fill me in on." the colonel folded his arms. " Don't worry, we've already made sure it won't happen again. Now I want an explanation from you."

Dyson had a blank look as the door closed. " Allright Sarge, I'll tell him you're busy."He said through the door. After a moment she could hear him move off.
[McCain]
It doesn't take McCain long to run into someone in the corridors, first coming onto a a young woman with a Psi-Batallion emblem on her uniform talking with a mountain of a Snow Tiger Battlecat, the pair of them swapping stories seated in a small common area.

Sam frowns in confusion. "Sir?" she says, letting her confusion show as she hides her annoyance at being compared to Shep. "We were being pursued by unfriendlies and were about to get shot down, and we were lucky Lt. Norrin happened along and was able to help out." After moment, she asks "And may I ask, what do you mean that you didn't expect me to start acting like Trassk? I'm nothing like him."

" I'm referring to the fact you failed to report in after returning to base after completing your mission." Wallace replied, drumming his fingers on his desk. " It's been a long time, but I'm sure they still they teach that in officer school. Now, can you at least explain to me why you did it?"
