Sam simply smirks at Socrates' comment to Shep and listens carefully as Tyneer gives Duke directions as to where he should drive.

Rhys looked at Socrates," Cactus People are D-bees that , well, look like cactuses."
Joshua added ," These ones do happen to be farmers though."

"Huh." Socractes says, thinking it out. Wondering, if they're farmers, if they're carnivores, or if such a classification would still apply to plants. He also figured the CS would not have spent much time explaining them due to their farmer nature, otherwise, they'ld be higher on the watch list like so many other threats to humanity.

The trip was uneventful until they neared the Dbee village, where plumes of black smoke were trailing up into the sky. Shep stated the obvious, " Something's not right here. Can't we go around?"
Joshua shook his head. " Road runs right along the edge of the settlement."
" Great," Shep sighed, checking his rifle's charge," guess we're gonna have a look then."

Duke stopped the mountaineer just before coming in sight of the village. "let's get a look at the situation before anybody, or anything, gets a look at us"

"If they have the capacity to destroy a village," Socrates asks, "Would they also not have the capacity to know we were coming?" Inside, he suspected it was a CS purge, since he knew they happened.

Joshua looked to Duke," I'll stay with the vehicle. I'm not much good in a fight anymore without my armor."

Duke nodded to Tyneer "k, jus' remember 'ya break it, ya buy it'." he grinned as he headed back to get his gear.

Socrates also goes back and gets his gear: all the dog-boy stuff, since he never had a chance to swtich out. Though, he had the sense to remove the team badges.

Sam sighs to herself. She really didn't want to do this, but it didn't seem like they had much of a choice. "Let's go in, but try to avoid trouble if at all possible." Inwardly she reflects that will probably be an exercise in futility but she figures they should try.

As they exit the mountaineer and approach, Socrates was the first to smell it, but it wasn't long before everyone picked up on it. The stench of death hung in the air. shep motioned to Rhys to take a flanking position while he slipped to the other side. As they all neared the village, they could see the village had been torched and Cactus People bodies were strewn everywheres. It had been a massacre, and the attackers had been thorough.

Sam sighs quietly as she sees the deat and destruction around them. The more she saw of what had happened, the less she liked it. As she looks around, she keeps a close eye out on any signs of an ambush in the area as she looks for any signs of survivors. (Detect ambush: 59%, fail)

Duke looked around giving the area a sweep, keeping his bionic senses scanning the area and his NG-E4A at the ready. "we should probably clear out and keep movin'. coulda been the FACs handiwork, but anybody comes along, we're gonna be hard-pressed explainin' how we had nothin' ta do with this. c'mon, we can call it in on the road."

" This wasn't FAC." Shep said as he examined a hole implanted in the ground. He looked at Sam. " Spidertracks" he said, refering to a common term used to describe the unmistakable tracks made by a SPider Skull Walker. " These were Coalition that wiped this village out. " There was a fair bit of disdain in Shep's tone.

Socrates nodded approvingly at the news. It was good to see that the CS continued to remove those species they felt were a threat to humanity. Though, he did wonder how farmers threatened humanity.
"Sir." He says to Sam. "How were these Cactus people a threat to CS that they should be purged before more dangerous creatures?"
