Duke moved out of the way for Shep "sure, be my guest" motioning to the scanner "ya break it, ya buy it" turning to Sam "always preferred th' direct approach m'self so why don't I jus' wander on over an' have a 'friendly' chat with 'em? objections? anybody wanna tag along?" looking specifically at Socrates

Socrates raised an eyebrow. "What could I ascertain that you cannot?" He asked.

Duke shrugged "I dunno, yer the one with the big brain. ain't ya supposed ta be psychic er sumthin'? as fer me, I wuz just gonna maybe bust some heads an' crack a skull er two an' see wut flops out " he replied to Soc while waiting on a response or the green light from one of the others. this was their tea party now.

"I am only a Dog Boy." He said back, aware now that others must know this as well. "But I will help." Getting up, he adds, "So long as we do not delay this mission and my return to the CS."
Truth be told, he was not so much homesick for the CS, earlier long missions had done away with that. It was more that, being so far from the light of humanity, where the world was safe and known, and in this confusing place, where unenlightened humans cavort with clear monsters and demons, just irked him a lot.

Sam raises an eyebrow at the comment Socrates makes about being a dog boy. She thinks about the idea of confronting them and shakes her head. "We're trying to stay invisible. Obviously if we're being watched, we're not doing that great a job. However, picking a fight would be an even worse idea when we're trying to stay off the radar. Let's see what Rhys finds out before we do anything."

Socrates looks over to Sam as she speaks, then, with practiced politeness - well, drilled politeness - he sits, staring out the way Rhys came. "I would not have considered you to by Coalition." He says, candidly. "You are very good at being off the radar."

Duke just shrugged again "whatever, just figured we might interrupt their li'l 'fact finding' mission, keep 'em from reportin' back to whoever they's workin' fer an' discourage 'em a li'l" looking back to Shep and the scanner "any luck?"

" Maybe it's not us that was being watched." Shep said, giving duke's scanner a slight whack with his hand. " I can't get anything on this either, LT."
Rhys managed to slip out of the vehicle without being noticed. As he looked around, he could see only one person paying any attention to the vehicle, a teenage boy busily scribbling something on a note pad.

"Let's hope this is no problem. I would hate to harm them just because they liked the colour of our clothes." Socrates answers, seeing if he can empathically scan the person watching them, find out what he's feeling.

Rhys moves as quietly and stealthily as he can to get a vantage point where he can read what is being written down via his cybernetic eye.

Sam nods at Shep as she repeats, "Exactly. If we are not their target, going and picking a fight with them is going to attract interest and, as I just repeated not one minute ago, we do NOT want to do that." Sam moves over to where Shep is and attempts to get the scanner working (read sensory equipment: 6% out of 40%)

Sam quickly discovers the scanner was reading fine, Shep just wasn't using it correctly. the problem was that there weren't any signals for the equipment to pick up.
Socrates reaches out to the watcher's mind, and finds that boredom is the primary thing he senses, mixed with the typical emotions found in a teenage boy.
After he moved, Rhys was able to read the pad. On it were times with notes of anything that caught the boy's interest. the last entry was the arrival of a group with Duke and his dog.

Rhys uses his Optic Nerve Video implant combined with his PDD (Whatever that digital data recorders abbreviation is) to snap a picture of the pad). Afterwards he looks around to see how crowded it is around him.

"He appears to be a bored boy." Socrates says. "I sense no malice towards us."

"a kid? all that over some dumb stupid kid?" Duke huffed, then snorted "a'right, fine then, but jus' keep them senses peeled. first sense o' 'malice' ya do get an' ya be sure ta lemme know" as he moved back to the cockpit controls
