THe group is escorted down a corridor, as the Sargeant continues. "It was built to be large enough to accomadate even some of the bigger...people like you, Specialist" She pauses, slightly embarrased. "But still small enough that any Tarlok boarders would only be able to move in single file, without any armor or heavy weapons, which gives us an advantage in terms of being able to whittle them down."
You reach a room filled with banks of computers, each separately manned. At the center is a table with a 3D screen projection with a group of officers standing about it. The most prominent officer has a metal cylinder protruding from where his right ear used to be, and a series of spider-web scars branching out from the region. Next to him, in a heavily modified uniform, is a Talus Bio-Freak with red skin and black lines that resemble tattoos marking his skin. Black bone spurs jut out of his shoulders, elbows, knees and knuckles, and he has rows of short black horns that from a distance resemble hair. You notice a strange red metal broach on his uniform.
The scarred human turns and salutes. "Captain Jhon Roben, Victory Mission Commander. It's a priviledge to welcome you aboard, Ambassador, Doctor." He nods. "This is my second in command, Major Valyr Trokyr." The biofreak bows slightly.
Von chimes in. "I would have expected the command deck to be located where you could have an external view. What if you're attacked and you can't get a visual?"
The Captain allows himself a slight smile. "The original designers actually wanted something like that, but thankfully I nixed it. I have no desire to make a highly visible target of my command staff. We've got multiple redundant systems, including an emergency system of optical mirrors that we can use. I felt it better however, to best protect the command crew by putting us near the center of the ship, with additional protective armor."

Balus didn't know if he was supposed salute or not as he stood behind the doctor and ambassabor, so he merely stood at attention. They would address him if need be, but the sargeant had said this was for the other's benefit. It did bother him to see the Epoch Rider officer on the bridge however, he knew their reputation and wasn't entirely sure if he should trust any of them. though it wasn't intentional, Balus couldn't help that his gaze kept fixing on Major Troykr.

Solaxis nods politely to both "Captain, Major, it's both an honor and a pleasure." and listens as Von questions the Captain and his explanation of the ship design and layout, and then adds a question of his own. "Captain, so when are we scheduled to depart, and what is our initial destination?"

The Captain looks at Solaxis. "We depart in 3 hours. We'll be going at relativistic velocities insystem. " The visual on the projection screen changes to a star chart, and a circle marks a section. "We've gotten a coded transmission from a group of escaped scientists at what we believe to be a shipyards a few light-minutes out from Dilm. The coded message gives us reason to believe that it is a stagging ground and that the scientists have valuable intel. We will check it out and make our own assesment."

As the others speaks Kiadan's mind works furiously looking at the devices in the room and realizing the potential these systems have for her work. "If my laps are assembled to my specification then this should be fine," she says ignoring largely what is being said. She does however catch the scientist comment and turns towards them. "Are they working upon the thermodynamics of modulated space flight?" she asks with a questioning expression.

"clearly a military operation, Captain, but I respectfully request to be allowed to accompany the mission. my diplomatic commitments do not relieve me of my other duties as a member of my race. I cannot stand by in good conscience and allow myself to be relegated to hiding behind a desk when other lives might be in danger and I could help protect and save them." turning to Von, "you, on the other hand, should remain here. my conscience also won't allow me to put you in harm's way due to my decision."

Von looks at Solaxis squarely. "Sir, with due respect, I knew the risks when I signed on. Secondly, protocol states at least two members of the civilian government be present whenever civilian abductees are returned in order to ensure a proper debriefing, and an assesment of any possible war crimes for indictment."
The Captain holds back a smirk. "I'll let you two discuss this. Dr. Kiadan, you can report to your main lab and your team will give you details on what they've uncovered thus far from the transmission. Your analysis will prove quite useful." He looks at Balus. "And Specialist, you'll be issued your shift patterns and barracks assignment. The Sargeant-At-Arms will see to your needs." He gives a salute. "DISMISSED"

Balus saluted. Yessir." he replied and turned away to find the Sargeant-At-Arms so he could begin serving his duties.

"Very well," Kiadan says as she hovers in place her small wings beating furiously to maintain her at head level. "I shall leave for the labs immediately. Where are they?"

"DISMISSED" Solaxis clasps his hands together behind his back with an approving nod. "it would seem then that there's nothing to discuss. the will of your people never ceases to amaze me, and makes you truly deserving of your place in the cosmos."

(Solaxis)
Solaxis and Von are lead to the diplomatic quarters, which while relatively spartan for these sorts of things, are spacious and decorated.
Von looks over at Solaxis once they are alone. "I hope I didn't overstep myself up on the command deck, sir."
(Balus)
The Sargeant at Arms gives you a list of duty shifts, and shows you to your barracks. You are sharing quarters with 5 others, all Bio-Freaks, and half of them Epoch Riders. You're going to be on EVA detail when the ship arrives at Dilm. What you do with the next three hours is up to you.
(Kiadan)
You arrive at the main lab. Only about half the equipment you asked for can even fit into the cramped space, and the rest was left behind. Thankfully, the link to the ship's main computer and direct feed to the advanced sensor arrays the ship is carrying is fully up and functional. Your staff of 6 other scientists is present in the lab.
They include - Dr. Krysar Potyn - Astrophysics (Human Male) Lt. Omyr Dashin - Xeno-Mechanics specialist (Talus Bio-Freak Male - has a crown of horns as well as a pair of small blades on his tail) Dr. Mysha Rell - Geologist and Ecologist (Seerman Female) Dr. Nya Vistyr - Xeno-Biologist and Patholigist (Human Female) Lt. Rindar Lyss - Electronics specialist (Talus Male) Dr. Enra Wystern - Archeologist and Xeno-psychologist (Talus Female)

I'm going to be relying on you heavily throughout this mission in the course of my diplomatic duties, so if you ever feel you have something to say, I need you to say it. no holding out, alright? we need to trust each other ... oh, and Von? one other thing. please stop calling me 'sir'. now, up for a tour, or do you need to rest? I'd like to take the chance to get familiar with our new home."

Balus wasn't keen on the living quarters, but he kept it to himself. The good news that he had some time to himself gave him opportunity to stow his things and begin to write a leteer to his family. He knew he couldn't put in anything specific and had to keep any classified information out of it, but never the less he knew his siblings would appreciate hearing from him since he never really got to say goodbye before shipping out. He got about halfway through when his stomach growled, so he saved the message to finish later and set out to find the galley.

(Solaxis) Von smiles "thank you Solaxis, but I think I'm going to rest first. Enjoy your tour."
(Balus)
You hit the comissary, and find that there seems to be unofficial cliques forming within the ship community already: The Epoch Riders are apart from the rest, as are many, if not all of the Bio-Freaks, particularly the more monstrous among them.
(Kiadan)
Dr. Potyn "Listen, you reprobates, I'm telling you this is starchart data they are sending. Clearly we are talking about a Rithe Rendevous point!" Lt. Lyss. "No, you academic putz, it's the design specs for next gen ECM warheads the Shertar are developing." Lt. Dashin " I think it's more likely the structural gridwork for something."

Kiadan rolls her eyes and offers her small draconic hand. "May I?" she asks. She eyes the information she's been given with a critical eye letting the ideas flow through her head.
