Isamu says to Tom, "Cover her escape. No powers unless absolutely necessary. A confrontation here would be very bad." He walks toward the professor and as he approaches he says, "professor, is everything ok? Should I call the police or security? Hey what are you doing to the professor?" He makes no offensive moves, instead he does his best to act like a frightened college kid, pulling out his cell phone and begins to dial 911. taking advantage of the distraction hopefully provided by Isamu as he speaks, Solomon quickly mutters a brief incantation under his breath (Charismatic Aura, poor man's Empathic Transmission), and holds up a hand to Isamu as he seemingly springs to life, as it were, suddenly becoming more vibrant and alive with a sparkle to his now deep blue eyes (PB 20) to everyone who can see him (within 60'). He speaks, first to Isamu, "It's alright. just relax. everything is fine." then turning his attention back to his assailant, "I'm sure this is all just some sort of misunderstanding. there's no need for this to escalate any further so why don't you just put me down now so we can discuss this like civilized people starting with you telling me exactly what you're talking about ..." trying to set up some sort of rapport of friendship and trust (save vs. magic) since trying to intimidate this guy would be a useless endeavor, and he's not lying when he adds "...because I have no idea what you're referring to". |

" Really, then which one of your freak companions tried to get into the mayor's head?" The man asked, not releasing Solomon, but his grip lightening enough for his feet to touch the floor. " Because someone tried it, and it's my job to make sure it doesn;t happen again."
he looked at Isamu and Tom ( Alice is still hiding in the washroom behind them at this point ) " Son, put that phone away, before I'm forced to make you eat it." His tone was threatening, merely matter-of-fact.

Isamu still trying to pretend to be scared closes the phone and puts it away. "I just don't want you to hurt him. We were all just sitting here without doing anything. Then you come and attack our professor."

Alice stays in the bathroom, trying not to panic upon hearing what is going on at the hospital and what was going on here. The mayor had known someone had tried to read his mind - she just hoped he didn't realize it had been her. Looking the mirror, she changes her hair colour so it is reddish and changes her eyes from green to dark blue and makes her self a couple of inches shorter and changes her facial features so that she is changed enough from Rebekah that the mayor hopefully wouldn't recognize her.
Peeking her head out of the bathroom, she quickly moves toward the exit, planning on meeting the others outside as she says quietly over the radio. "I'm heading outside. I'll meet you there."

as loathe as he was to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person, Solomon continues his game of psychological warfare trying to reinforce his position. "please stop threatening my students. as much as I can appreciate your enthusiasm toward your professional duties, there is such a thing as being overzealous. it's rather obvious that someone has made a grave mistake, and that isn't helping your position."
"as he said, they're here on a class assignment for the school newspaper and I'm a professor of law at the University of Miami. we have an endowment of over $500 million and this" motioning at the man's hands still firmly planted "is called 'assault and battery', not to mention 'terroristic threatening'. now what sort of grants do you suppose the school's attorneys will require to settle the matter after my friends down at the Miami Herald get done turning this administration upside down with front page reports of a mayoral bodyguard roughing up a professor and members of the student body over some half-baked conspiracy theory?"
"for that matter, considering the alumni and student body representatives political interests, how much support and campaign contributions do you think they can afford to lose before they consider you a liability and you become gainfully unemployed? now, before this gets out of hand, why don't you take your hands off me and go back and tell the mayor that he made a mistake and that we're not here looking for trouble?"

" All your people ever think about is money. " The brute replied with a chuckle, letting Solomon go. " You can try to have me charged, I'd like to see things stick. Let me give you some advice, don't try that stunt with Mr. Siang again." As he said it, Mr almost sounded like master .
He turned and walked away as if nothing had happened.

after the brick leaves, Solomon adjusts his jacket, looking at the kids as his appearance returns to normal. "alright everyone. show's over. guess he was smarter than I gave him credit for. next time you come to report on a story for the newspaper, consider bringing a camera or a recorder. if nothing else, it'll add a little more credibility to your story. you're just lucky he wasn't smart enough to notice. so why don't you tell me what you're really doing here, and what he was talking about? where's your friend, Rebekah? is she ok?"

"oh, yes, well then, you might want to consider another field besides journalism if your not going to use it when a story presents itself. just as well. all it would have done is made things worse. no sense in making a target of yourself. at the very least, the camera would have become a casualty, if not you."

Isamu reaches up and taps his band-a-dio so that Alice can hear the conversation. He says, "she had another appointment and since she was bored she decided to leave early. She will meet up with us later on. That gentleman didn't hurt you did he professor?"

" Hey, what's all the ruckus up here?" shouted a security guard as he came out of the elevator and approached. " I got a report of a fight. You folks see anything?"
Outside, alice sees the brute come out and meet with a couple of men waiting in the courtyard. One of them looks familiar as he thumbs over his shoulder and laughs. His annoying laugh gave Klaxon away.

Solomon looks at Isamu, "No, I'm fine." as the guard appears, he responds "No, no fight. just a misunderstanding. everything is fine now, but thank you."

" You sure? councillor Thigpen's secretary was pretty upset about a brawl up here." The guard said. " Maybe I better go check with her. You folks wait right here." The guard started down the hallway.

Alice frowns as she sees Klaxon and she whispers into the radio to Isamu. "Be careful when you come outside. Klaxon is out here with a couple of friends and I doubt they're here for anything we'll like."
