Col. 2 Ch 9: Not All Mad Scientists Wear Labcoats

[dakota]

Coop wasn't happy about how the pieces were adding up. " Looks like maybe the professor is our suspect then, and he might have summoned some help. We better get ahold of Elutheroi."

[Mierin]

Sarah nods quietly at Coop. "it looks that way. We'll definitely have to talk to Eleutheroi and Tobrias about this."

[Renekin Skywalker]

Some time later, the trio find their way back to the Guild, and give their report. Tobria clucks his tongue. "So, you say you strongly suspect Montrose?" He asks. "I wonder why Rozaotnosky did not mention this before."

"I was in the room, too." Eleutheroi said, "But, I had no idea whose house it was. Plus, we thought it was more of a kdnapping."

After a sigh Tobrias calls Rozatonosky. When the officer arrives, he looks around. "This doesn't work. We got the prints back. No-one's but Mr. Montrose was ever in that house. Well, not human, at least. The basement had odd bones..."

After a second, he places a dossier on the table. "We found anti-psychotics in the medicine chest."

[dakota]

" So we've got the Professor there, plus some sort of critter with claws at some point, and..., Coop stopped short as a thought occured to him. " Is it possible we've got some sort of copycat demon or something? some sort of shapechanger that could take Montrose's form and make it look like the Prof was behind everything? I know there's got to be creatures out there that do stuff like that." He looked at the others, to see if his theroy was plausible.

[Renekin Skywalker]

Eleutheroi whicstles. "Who would have thought MOntrose had the cahones for something like that, hmm?" He says. "Well, my guess, is he's demonized, like a Seneschal."

[dakota]

" It's possible he got more than he bargained for." Coop pointed out. " and it still doesn't account for the end of the world scenario using the pyramid."

[Mierin]

Sarah nods with a quiet sigh. "He really did have an obsession with the pyramid. Kind of creepy, if you ask me."

[dakota]

" I still don't get the end of days scenario. What would the professor, or whatever has taken over him, get out of causing an apocalypse?" Coop asked, putting an arm around Sarah.

[Renekin Skywalker]

"LIke we said at the beginning, the experiment." Eleutheroi says. "End the world, see what happens."

[dakota]

Coop still didn't buy the idea, but he just shrugged. " So he's not at home, and he's not at the school. We're running out of leads here, and time. What about tracing phone records, or banking transactions? If it's really him and not some creature, he'll have used both."

[Renekin Skywalker]

"All normal." Rozatonosky says. "We did not originally suspect him, thinking he had a boarder. That's why we didn't give his name right away."

"Anti-psychotics..." Tobrias says. Suddenly, and rather out of character, rising and slamming his fist on the table. "The fool!" He says. "How could he have gotten involved with that. He should have known better." He growls. "Eleutheroi, I want to know who started him on that path. Check with the Elf and the Dragon."

After taking a breath once Eleutheroi leaves, he turns to Sarah. "We might as well prepare the pyramid. Would you like a tour?"

[dakota]

Coop arched a brow," You mind filling us in on what's so special about anti-psychotic pills?"

[Mierin]

Sarah nods, looking confused. "Sure, a tour would be nice, but I'd also like a little clarification. What is going on? What was he involved in?"

[Renekin Skywalker]

"He was hearing voices in his head?" Eleutheroi said. "Which is what the anti-psychotics were for. He probably didn't realize that he wasn't crazy."

[dakota]

Coop scowled a bit," Is anyone going to answer our questions, or are you just gonna keep us in the dark?"
