Col. 2 Ch 9: Not All Mad Scientists Wear Labcoats

After leafing through the pages, Bianca idly slips the pyramid book into her bag and carefully double checks the other titles for anything interesting.

Only after satisfying herself there is nothing book related to find, does she begin to examine the room, looking carefully for magic symbols that the police might not have noticed.

Bianca found some symbols in weird places, like protection symbols woven into the rugs, and a summonning circle out of the tiles in the kitchen.

Coop's wanderings also found Montrose's room. It was very orderly, except for the police dustings, with all of Montrose's clothes all put away... except a suspicious pile in one corner.

The room upstairs was a bachelor/loft, no real room except the bathroom. But every wall was covered in images. The floor showed claw marks.

Coop approached the pile of dirty laundry, and nudged it apart with his foot. " You'd think the prof would use a basket as neat as the rest of the house is." He muttered to himself.

The clothes were ripped and torn, looking somewhat like hulk-style rips.

[Mierin]

Sarah's face looks surprised when she sees that every space is covered by the Pyramid and starts searching around for some kind of a place that he could hide things (a notch in the floor or the wall or if there are any desks in the room.

[dakota]

Coop picked up a piece of the shredded clothing and carried it out of the room. He held it up for Bianca to see as he called up the stairs to Sarah," I think I might have found a problem."

(Sarah)
She found no extra hiding places. Just A Beautiful Mind-esque mass of papers and snippets and such. The claw marks looked like some kind of clawed thing pacing, or walking, or something.

(Coop)
No-one seems to be answering...

(Bianca)
Many symbols built into the place...

Bianca didn't touch the offered shredded clothing, but she sniffed at it curiously.

She opens a notebook from her bag and reviews her notes to try to determine what the professor was protecting against and also what he was trying to summon.

[dakota]

" Hey, Sarah, everything okay up there?" Coop called again loudly as Bianca was leafing pages. Seeing her do it, Coop sniffed the shredded clothes too," You can tell something by the smell?"

[albatross]

"Most people can't really tear their way out of their own clothes. If there's blood, something else tor them. If not, the wearer probably had claws. In that case, they might smell different than a human." Bianca muses, still leafing through her notebook, wondering if the summoning symbol and the protection symbols might be related.

(Coop and Bianca)
There is no smell of blood, only Lavender detergent.

(Bianca)
The notes show it is a basic summoning circle, useful for summoning minor monstors, or opening comunication portals. The protection circles, likewise, were common basic ones a summoner would use to keep a beast at bay.

[Mierin]

Sarah comes back downstairs and tells Coop. "Everything is ok. What's going on down here?"

[dakota]

Coop showed the torn shirt. " I think we've got a problem. Find anything upstairs? Oh, Bianca, what about you? Anything important?"

[albatross]

"I think he's a circle maker or summoner. He's got a few minor summoning symbols and protection scattered around the place, and also communication magic symbols. Might explain the torn clothing..." Bianca said.

[Mierin]

"He also seems to have an obsession with the Pyramid. And there were claw marks as if some kind of clawed creature was walking around upstairs." Sarah tells Coop and Bianca.
