"Entitled? Sounds like imperialists and colonies. Although, if they have a history of doing this, without considering the harm caused by their actions, and we have a chance to stop them, I'm in."
"You? A different world? I can speculate you plan on trying to leave me behind," said Lady Angeline.

Powell addressed Vivian first. "Yes, a planet - moving through space, heading to destroy all we hold dear." He then glared at Lex. "Two days - meet at the building when you are all ready." He bowed his head slightly to the Lady Angeline as he began to wheel away.
Matt let out a low whistle. "Well...guess we have to bronco-bust a whole darn planet. I'm gonna need to get more bullets."

"Bigger guns too. Hmmm...if it's a real living world, then it could be affected by foreign substances."
Lady Angeline returns the bow, with a smile. "Does this mean our speak easy date is to be postponed?"
"It might have to be. Heard a superb batch, not the embalming cut booze around here."

Lex watched Powell roll away, his mind trying to grasp the idea of trying to stop another planet, but it was unimaginable. He shook his head, "Matt, you might want to pack all your bullets, and all your guns, and then borrow a couple extra."
He turned and looked at Vivian, "Drop by the shop sometime, I've got something for you to try. That is if you want to. Victoria won't be there. She won't be there any more," he explained, which pieced together why she was not at the funeral by his side, "seems because of my promise to you, I'm not enough fun to be around to make her happy." Lex shrugged with a slight smirk before nodding to the others, "See in a couple days, or stop by if there's anything I can help with."
He turned and started walking back towards where he had parked, craving a drink worst than he had in some time.

Vivian frowns at Lex. 'What in the hell does that mean?' She wonders to herself, realizing that this wasn't the time or place to bring it up. She simply nods and says "I'll drop by tomorrow afternoon."

THE NEXT DAY
Vivian arrived at Lex's shop - she noted a few new features since the last time she had been by.
MEANWHILE

"I think primitive germ warfare would work against a living planet. Though it also carries the possibilities of personal contagion. Hmmm...Thom and Colt might not be enough."
"Poison injection, but it could be only in name a living planet," counters Angeline, both going through his arsenal, field stripping and comparing.

Hidden behind a facade of a storehouse Powell had helped set up in one of his properties down the block from the bakery , Lex's workshop was far from the dungeon he had been hidden in the basement as his father had before him. It was three times the size and laid out so he could work on several projects at once. In the corner was an armor stand that held his Steelfist suit.
Lex Looked up from the work bench where he sharpening arrowheads when he heard the secret door open. He saw it was Vivian, and his hand eased away from the .45 on the bench beside him. "I was not sure you were going to come." He picked up his glass and emptied it. "Water." He said.

A small smile appears on Vivian's face as she replies, "Of course I was going to come, especially given what's about to happen." She glances over as he drinks the water and it's clear she trusted him, despite his slip, and hadn't been suspicious enough to accuse him of drinking.

Rex is able to complete his inventory review.
Vivian noticed that Lex had made several changes to the set up, and that he had been working on arrowheads. Lex could see Vivian's increased comfort with Lex's reassurances.

"Yes, well, things have not seen us on the best of terms for the past few months." Lex replied as he stepped away from his work towards Vivian, rubbing his chin where he had shaved for the first time in a while, "If you're going with on Powell's suicide mission, you need to stock up your supplies, maybe even take my quiver as to carry spares." He suggested, motioning to where it hung on the wall with his own bow. "I changed the feathers, so once you get used to them, you'll be able to tell by feel what you haveAnd I finally got off my behind and finshed something for you."
He walked over to a tall cabinet and opened the door. Inside was a second armor stand that held a smaller, lighter version of his Steel Fist armor. "I didn't put the blades on since they would throw off your archery, and I downsized the forearm pistol to a revolver so the magazine is not in your way and mounted it further back the arm to compensate for the longer barrel. You'll only have six shots before you have to reload, but it has better accuracy than mine. The armor is more leather than chainmail, so it will give you better mobility and be lighter for you, but still a lot more protection than you have now. And of course the gaunlets have been reinforced like mine, but still have full range of usage. And this will help too," took a pack off a hook behind it and showed it to Vivian, "This will let you carry extra arrows. Both sides have oversized quivers for you to load up and the back is extra protection with banded steel." He knocked on it with his knuckles to demonstrate it was metal painted to look like the leather of the pack. "The middle gives you a place to carry any other gear you want to have with you, just in case."
As he offered the pack to Vivian for inspection, "If you're gonna replace me as Steelfist , you had better look the part, right?" He smiled, "I had thought it would be Matt, but you two never hit it off like I thought you would and with his grandfather's passing, he has a family legacy to keep strong, so I never approached him. Unless you don't want this?"

A weak smile appears as Vivian replies, "To be honest, I can't say I really want to do this. However, if I can help, I wouldn't feel right sitting back and doing nothing when everything around us is at stake."
She listens politely as he details the changes he made, stroking the feathers gently to start getting the feel of them. She notes the armour and doesn't react at first but, after a few minutes, she realizes where he's going with his explanation. Accepting the pack, Vivian looks excited and a bit nervous, but determined. Vivian nods, solemn for a second before she smiles. "I do want this." She looks over at her new armour before looking at Lex again. "I will carry on the name with honour and make you proud."

Lex smiled as Viv said yes. He pulled her close and gave her a hug. "There's something else you need to know. When I sort of pushed off on my own, it wasn't my choice. Not long after we saved Matt's brother, your mother confronted me at the bakery. She thought our relationship was more of a romantic sort. I wasn't good enough for you and demanded I stay away from you or I would regret it. I had no idea if it was a bluff or what, but then she go sick and I thought I should honour her wishes. Then your aunt came along, and, well, that was a train wreck that took longer to happen than it should have to derail." He looked at Vivian, "I never wanted to hurt you kiddo, but I didn't want to hold you back either. Now that there's a good chance we won't come back from this, I thought you had better know the truth."

"I'm stumped, but will come up with something." (Rex/Lady) "If not you, then I." Chuckles, "We're not in the Orient this time."

THE FOLLOWING DAY
The group has gathered inside the building which Powell had provided as a meeting place. Again the marble floors stood spotless - you never had figured out who he had sent to clean the floors.
Matt was dressed in full Dark Rider regalia - this time with his grandfather's rifle slung to his back. "Howdy, reckon we ready to get this on?"
Before you could respond, there was a loud hum - machinery starting up, and the floor began to descend.
"What in tarnation? He had the whole floor built as an elevator the whole time?" Matt grumbled. "Ain't that just fancy?"
The floor continued to descend down for some time. When you finally reached the bottom, you found a group of familiar figures waiting for you.
Duchess Isabella Yorkshire stood at the lead of the group. There was a scar running down the left side of her face from her temple to her chin. You had heard it the result of a duel with some strange warlord and his battle-zepplin over the Thames River a year or so ago. She smiled, taking a keen interest in Rex and his new companion. "Pleasure to see you all again."
Behind her were two of the three Mayerts' brothers. Ezekiel's hair, though still wild, had streaks of silver to break up the black length, including a single long streak of grey through the center of his beard. Augustus was also there - still a giant of a man and his body rippling with power, though his face was ashen, and it was no surprise - you had all heard the story of his bride cut down on their wedding day by the nefarious gunman Horace Hempers, and how Augustus had spent a week tracking him down before a night-long battle between the two in Topeka ended with Horace falling to his death.
Ezekiel spoke up. "Sorry Patrick couldn't be along - his wife's expecting their firstborn any hour now."
"All the more reason we must make haste." You could hear Arnold Powell's voice as he wheeled forward - he wore some kind of strange suit filled with tubing under the fabric. "Thank you all for coming. I appreciate all you've done and continue to do - in this, mankind's darkest hour."
"I'm still waiting for how we expect to get to this here Cannibal planet you speak of." Matt chimed in.
"Ah, yes, of course. It took some time, but thankfully, I managed to make the acquaintance of the Tillman family, whom you've met? Lent me some rather...unique devices that they inherited with their adopted daughter. A fair trade in exchange for the paperwork showing she's theirs through and through. With that, I was able to complete our transport." He wheeled over to a large switch on the wall and pulled it down.
Lamps flashed to life, illuminating a large rocket.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to introduce the Daedalus. She'll be our ride."
