Augustus looked back at Rex. "Well, you show up at my gym tomorrow, and we'll see who hits the floor first, last and always."
Ezekiel nodded at Lex. "I could see it working - what do you think?" He looked to his brother and Rex.
"Sure." Augustus smiled.
Matt, having taken Vivian aside. "Look, I know...look, I know I'm not good at things...with people. With you. And maybe we've been playing this game a long time and I've been too darn proud, but thinking we both could have died, and with everything that's happened....I want to do right by you, Viv. I want to be, with you, however we can make that work. If you'll have me, that is." He took off his cowboy hat. "I'd like to make a life with you, on our terms - no one else's, and I'll do what it take to be the man you deserve. I...I love you."

"Thanks for the vote of confidence." Lex nodded with a smile. "Shouldn't take me too long to get up and running, providing no one is against me using the building. First thing I need to do once I'm in business is make a pair of holsters for those fancy new shooters of Matt's." He glanced at the two younger heroes off on their own, then looked at the Duchess, "Any idea what that is all about?"

Vivian listens quietly while Matt lays out what he is thinking and feeling. Part of her had a feeling something like this was going to happen and is not surprised. The other part of her is floored, shocked and confused. She did care for Matt and it had been one of her mother's fondest wishes to see Vivian marry and have children. Could she have that with Matt? Vivian did appreciate the fact that she wouldn't have to hide anything or lie, but she had never pictured herself making a commitment with anyone. Realizing she was probably taking too long to answer, Vivian says, "I don't know what to say. I must admit I didn't see this coming after everything that has happened. I do care for you, I do! I just.. I don't know if I'm ready. I'm sorry. I need to think." With that, Vivian's etiquette training kicks in and she says, "Please excuse me." Vivian quickly strolls out of the room, wanting a minute to collect her thoughts.

Matt stood hat in hand as Vivian stepped outside.
The Duchess responded to Lex. "I think those two are having a moment, as they say. She's your apprentice, no? Protege? Maybe someone should talk to them?"
Augustus grinned. "Yeah, usually they fall after I toss'em."

Lex looked at the Duchess and nodded, "Think it's time to stick my nose where it doesn't belong. Excuse me."
He made eye contact with Matt as he passed, then slowly opened the door and stepped outside. Thankful Vivian had not gone far, he eased the door closed behind him before speaking, "Everything okay kiddo?" He asked, unable to hide the concern from his voice. "Couldn't help noticing you talking with Rider and then leaving in a hurry. Did he say something to upset you? Or hurt you?" His tone changed, slipping to the protective big brother mode he sometimes slipped into when Lex felt Viv needed someone to stand up for her.

Vivian shakes her head. "No. not really. I think it's more that he confused me." Vivian sighs, "He told me he wants to spend his life with me and that he loves me. I.. I just didn't see it coming." Vivian explains, "He said something about playing a game except.. what game? Sure, my mother wanted me to marry him, but I didn't get that impression from him. Sure, he flirted a little, but marriage? I never really saw myself getting married." Vivian smirks, "I'm sure you'll think I'm being foolish. Tons of girls would give up a limb to get an offer like I got."

Listening to Vivian, he could barely contain a smile. While she may not have seen it, Lex certainly knew there was definitely interest there from Matt. He stepped closer and gave Vivian a comforting hug, “Young lady, how you never caught the fact that boy is head over heels for you is a mystery to me.” He chuckled lightly, then stepped back so he could look at her, “No one other than you can decide how to answer him, but I can tell you that he is likely the only man that is going to understand and support you becoming the new Steelfist. And it helps that both your mother and your mentor approve.”

Vivian returns the hug and shakes her head. "I guess this is something everyone except me already knew?" Vivian listens and nods, "I had the same thought - that at least I wouldn't have to lie to him about what I was doing. But that's not reason enough. I just wish he could have been honest about it from the beginning." Vivian weakly smiles and says, "Thanks for listening."

"Viv, Matt's been trying to show how he felt about you for a long time now. You've just been better at avoiding." Lex replied, then leaned back so they could see each other. "If you need some time to think about it, maybe you should tell him you need to know him better. A date or two without aliens or ninjas or mobsters would be a great place to start." He grinned widely, " Whatever you decide, I've got your back. And your welcome, ki..., I guess I can't really call you kiddo anymore after everything, can I?" He chuckled. "I'll give you a few minutes alone to think, but don't leave him hanging too long."
Lex turned and walked inside, and straight up to Matt with a stern look on his face, "You've got a lot of nerve not asking my permission." He face cracked into a smile, and he patted Rider's shoulder, "You really blind sided her, but I think I got her calmed down a bit. Give her a minute or two on her own. If she doesn't come in by then, you may have to go to her." He motioned to the pistols he had been given before returning home, "Those fancy pea shooters are gonna need a special holster. I think I know a guy that might be able to do something about that, maybe to make up for a pair of damaged Colts." He chuckled.

Matt nodded to Lex. "Right. Thanks." He walked to the door...but hesitated. He waited.

Lex watched Matt for a moment, and hoped Vivian did not crush the poor boy, before returning to find the Duchess in conversation with one of the Mayerts. "My apologies Duchess. A matchmaker I'm not, but those two seemed like I needed to help. Now, I believe you wanted to talk to me about some adventures you were thinking of?" He smirked slightly.
