"Paladin, if they make a break for it I need you to fly after them to cut them off."
Long starts to walk toward the kids as non-threatening as possible. When he had cut the distance by half he called out to them while still walking towards them, "Hi guys. I bet you've seen some pretty crazy stuff today, huh? Can I ask you about it?"

Calvin nods and begins walking toward the teens, smiling. "Hey. Can I talk to you for a moment? We're with the police..." True enough for all intents and purposes... "We're looking for the guy they've been talking about in the news, calls himself the Jury?"
"Can you spare a moment for a few questions?"

Sylwia does not even really pay attention to the security guy marking the scruitiny as the type she quite often encounters. Once inside she keeps an eye out letting Gabe do most of the talking mainly as she is not sure what to think now that a big bombshell had been dropped on her. In her silence she keeps an eye out for all that may serve as what she is looking for....even though in the end she knows not what she seeks.

"No, I don't remember that." Alice admits to Jason. Sighing, she says, "Fine. Let's get this done." She wasn't happy with Beth omitting the fact that her ex was an FBI agent, but figured there wasn't much she could do about that now.

Beth could tell the others weren't happy. "I'm sorry. You can just go home, I'll figure something out." She said softly as she got out of the SUV.
Her ex looked in Beth's direction and smirked, "And here's the little tramp now. About time you showed up, I was thinking maybe I should have a fire sale. Not gonna put much in that."
"Please stop. I just want a few of my things and the rest is yours." Beth pleaded.
"It's all mine, I'm just letting you have what I don't want." Crossland snapped, ingoring the others. "Make it quick, I've got a possible buyer coming to look later and I want you out of here before that."
In the car, Jason looked at Beth, then Tom. His expression made it clear he was not impressed.

Gabe followed Sylwia passed the mall cop, then matched her pace. He did not say anything for a little bit, then asked, "Did I do something wrong? You got awfully quiet all of a sudden." He asked softly, almost sounding worried.

The kids were about to scatter, but Calvin and Long approaching corralled the five teens. "We didn't see nuthin!" The largest said before anyone else could answer.
"You can't be cops." The youngest, perhaps 13 or so, blurted out. "I saw that lady. Their ain't no mutie cops!" The others all agreed with nods and "uh huhs" while the largest merely smirked and folded his arms cockily.

Calvin smiles. "You're right. We're not cops. We're with the Sentinels of Liberty and Justice. And if you did, in fact, see anything, anything at all, it would be very helpful. I might even be inclined, I dunno... to put in an appearance at your school?"
A little good PR never hurt anyone...

"There's a guy that we're looking for. We need to talk to him about appearing on TV. We figured he came this way, but from here he could have gone anywhere. We think he might have had some other people with him. Did you see anybody over there, where we were standing?"
Long looks back at Ashley, "Kodiak!"
He beckons her over to where the kids are with a big wave of his hand.
Back to the kids, "Don't worry. She's a perfectly nice lady."

"Why think you did something wrong. I know not why I silence as not a lot to say I guess." She says as she looks around at the stores available. "Oh this looks nice and different and nice." She says as she turns and heads into the alty store. (HOt topic or the likes) as in a way to try and avoid that which she knows is coming soon for questions and confrontation.

Tom smirked at crossland. "We'll be on our way once we've gotten the things Beth wants. If it's all the same to you. In the meantime, there's a charm school around the corner I've heard so much about. And down the street is an improv club - I'm sure you'll do great at open mic nights! I'll sell tickets for you. Or maybe you should get a podcast. We Millenials, we love the podcasts. And the Youtube channels, but I don't think you've got the face for it."

"You've got a smart mouth. How about you stand up so I can do something about it?" Dwight Crossland sneered.
Jason got out as Alice did, and Crossland's expression changed a bit. "I know you."
"We've met." Jason nodded. "Out in the Glades."
"Right, you left me and my partner in the ditch."
"Apparently you belonged there." Jason snapped back.
"Beth, your shit is in the boxes in the living room. Get it the hell out of here." Dwight snarled as he got out of the way. Beth led the others inside where the boxes were stacked. Jason, Avi and Alison all grabbed an armload to take out to the vehicles. Beth looked at what was there and scowled, "This isn't all of it. There's a hope chest my grandfather had made for me that's missing." She walked off to look for it.

"The Sentinels of what? Who the hell are they?" One of the boys asked.
A second spoke up. "You know, those super heroes on the news, but they're in Washington."
They were all a little timid as Ashley was called. She waved back with a smile before she and Isamu continued looking around.
The smallest in the group finally offered something useful. "I saw two men talking over there when I was waiting for the rest of the guys to show up. Then when I looked away, they were gone. Never got a good look at them though."
Across the street, Is whistled and pointed over Long and Calvin's head. The court was covered by two surveillance cameras.

Gabe let the subject drop awkwardly and followed Sylwia into the store. "I guess you could find something in here." He looked around a bit as Sylwia looked at things, then uttered, "Hey, I know him." Then walked out of the shop, looking towards the last person to pass by.

Long puts his hand out for the little guy to shake.
"Thank you, young man. You've been a great help to us today."
Long runs back over to Ashley and Isamu.
"We will need to get Beth to hack into the camera system. Let's get back to HQ."

"Aww, you're threatening a guy in a wheelchair, I'm impressed! What is it you do again for a living? With that level of wit and courage, you must be the envy of your friends at the call centre. I mean, I'm astounded, honestly, the courage you show with your medical condition. You're an inspiration to us all." Tom retorts as he goes to help. He follows Beth to help her find the hope chest, searching out with his magnetic powers.

Calvin smiles at the kids. He also shakes the small one's hand. "My name's Paladin. Thank you very much for your help." He follows Long over to Isamu. Cameras are always a bonus... when they're turned on and recording.
As Long suggests they get back to HQ, Calvin nods, and accompanies him. As they travel, he says to Long, "Sorry I'm not much help... investigation isn't my strong suit."
Calvin wonders, not for the first time today, exactly what use he will be to this team.
