Alice stays where she is, watching Beth's ex so he doesn't try to take anything of Beth's while Beth is off looking for her hope chest.

Sylwia stops what she is doing when Gabe announced about seeing someone he knew. Almost out of curiosity she decides to follow him outside but makes sure she does not have anything in hand just in case she get asked about shop lifting.

"Just a little banter." Crossland retorted with a smile that ws nearly predatory. He turned back to Jason, "You got a problem buddy? Maybe we should settle this down at the office." He flashed his ID.
Jason pulled out his own, " I think I can trump yours."
"Sentinels of.. you're one of those freaks?" Crossland said in surprise.
"Watch your mouth!" Jason snapped through gritted teeth.
"What the hell is Beth doing mixed up with mutie freaks?" Crossland continued.
Jason took a step forward and Avi had to intervene between them, "Alice, a little help with loverboy please?"
Crossland sneered as he folded his arms, "Might want to get your freak on a leash."

Inside, Beth was visibly upset when Tom caught up to her, "I'm sorry Tom, I should have just hired some movers. I just thought with you here he would not hit....," she trailed off and composed herself. "My hope chest should be in the bedroom. Let's start there." She suggested walking away at a pace he could easily match.

The kids were much more relaxed as Calvin introduced himself and both thanked them with the handshake, the youngest mentioning they all went to Westside High.
Ashley was grinning as they returned across the street. "You may hate investigating, but you've got a way with the public." She motioned across to where the five teens were still excited as they returned to their skateboarding.
Isamu spoke up," The cameras are on public property, so likely the recreation department uses them in case of vandalism. We should be able to access the recordings easy enough."
"Doing it without anyone else realizing what we are up to will be the trick." Ashley added. "Remember, the mayor isn't exactly on our side."

Gabe stopped in front of the shop, looking around but the person he had seen was gone. "That was Jesse Custer. I know it was. We've got big problems if it was." He looked at Sylwia and could tell she was not following. "Jesse Custer, as in Custer's Seventh Cavalry. One of the worst supervillian teams in the southern half of the US. We better check in with the others quick."

"OK" Tom kept pace. "Besides, if he tries anything, I'm pretty sure we can take him. oooh? would you like him on a streetlamp in his underwear? I bet he wears tighty-whiteys too."

Alice shakes her head at Jason and Crossland. "Just ignore him, Jason. He's just trying to provoke you into a fight. It's not worth it." Looking at Crossland, Alice shakes her head, "For a second there I thought I'd been transported back to middle school where I actually cared about childish taunts by bullies."

Long continues to talk as they head back to the vehicles.
"I'm sure Beth can make quick work of whatever electronic protection they've got on their camera network. She'll be in and out without a trace."

"Oh..." Sylwia says as wondering if there is danger afoot and puts up her personal forcefield just in case. "You call others and I am good with making sure safe I am just in case bad things happen." She says keeping her eyes open for danger and in preparing in case she has to jump to ready to protect Gabe and anyone else in the area.

Calvin smiles at the compliment - in his civilian guise, he was better known as a cranky person - and though he no longer feels that way much of the time, he has let that continue to be his de facto persona for a while, to better disguise himself. He had never really thought of himself as personable. I suppose... just having these powers, and being able to physically do more, and do more good... has made me better with people. Or it's possible that's simply an aspect of this body... another power, perhaps?
At the discussion of using the camera footage, Calvin nods. With nothing really to add, he says, "We may need to go over our jurisdiction and authority with Mac. Don't want to ruffle the city leadership if we don't have to... but they may not have any real authority to stop us. Until that's cemented, though, you're right. Better to keep it on the DL."

Jason was wired, but he looked at Alice and relaxed enough that Avi released his hold on him.
"Good boy. You sit and roll over too?" Crossland asked with a chuckle. He looked at Alice, "Not schoolyard tactics at all, but some morons have more restraint than others. And some don't need to hide behind a smart mouthed skirt."
That set Jason off again, as he ducked around Avi and stopped nose to nose with Crossland. "You want to say that again?"

"What's wrong with tighty-whiteys?" Beth snickered after snuffing. "You can't touch him though, he's FBI, and he'll hide behind his badge to get you strung up with every trumped up charge he can come up with. Oh, there it is." She said, pointing to a small hand carved wooden box.

"Okay, but... I wonder if we should see what he's up to first?" Gabe asked as he looked again. "Come on, I'll call in as we check. Worst case we just look like a couple people out for a stroll. " He blushed a bit, " Not a couple couple, but I mean two people. " He swallowed and tapped his band-adio, "Anybody home? Checking in with a possible problem."
Go ahead Dmitri answered
"It's Gabe. Can you do a check on Jesse Cutler for last known whereabouts and outstanding warrants. I think he just crossed our paths."
Dmitri hesitated, "Give me a minute."

"City management messes with us enough." Ashley scoffed as they got in the SUV. "I'm sure Beth can hack it for us if we need her to.
"Speaking of which, we might have a tail." Isamu said softly," Those two in the black sedan are taking an interest in us."
To Long, the car was very familiar and might as well have undercover unit across the door. Calvin had seen enough of them as well to recognize the surveillance unit.

Sylwia not sure exactly what this person looks like lets Gabe do the talking and goes to scan the people in the mall for the person...or at least a person that might stick out a bit. She is not sure if the forcefield sticks out or not adding a bit of a glow to her but considering that she herself likely could not blend in a crowd if she wanted too. So if he is in here and knows who and what she is they will likely have spotted her as well.

Calvin casually looks out the rear window at the trailing black SUV. "Yep. That's a tail. Want me to make it clear we see them?" He smiles. "I could hop out the side without you slowing down, fly back there, tap on their window, and ask for their identification. If they shoot at me, we'll know they're the bad guys." He chuckles.
