Vivian can see its trying to form words, but there is no obvious pattern to them - almost as if it is trying to find a language to communicate with. And that's when you realize - this giant head is aware you are there.
Lex, you have no idea what it is, but the giant head does not set you at ease.
Rex, you think it is trying to find a language that you can understand....

Puzzled, Rex tries a phrase in Latin, "How are you?" (Failing that, the same phrase through the other languages he knows)

"Let's just get out of here before that thing does anything else" Lex suggested, taking a step backwards and wondering why the others were not as well

Vivian looks thoughtful as she tells Lex, "The head knows we're here and it's trying to communicate with us. It's trying to use a language that we'd understand."

The head turns to Rex when he starts speaking Latin. A single word escapes its lips.
"ROMAN?"
The Duchess blinks. "Well, this is something. Go on. Speak to it."

"Communicate? What kind of witchcraft is this?" Lex said, stopping his retreat but still uncomfortable, and his hand on his weapon.

"I'll try. I only really learned enough of another language to get along with nobility, and to charm the ladies." Takes a deep breath, switches to Latin. "Not Roman, but I know the language. I am Rex, these are my friends Vivian, Lex, Duchess. We are here to find out why this culture has vanished."

Vivian shrugs at Lex, not really understanding what was going on either. She keeps an arrow ready in her bow in case she needs to defend the group if they are attack.

The Duchess smirks. "As a lady and noble, I appreciate the effort."
The giant head looks confused for a few moments. "the people are gone! You must prepare - we are warning you - your world - all you love - the Empire world rides again - all worlds are knowing fear and pain! Prepare!"

Lex could not help being on edge. The giant face was the most unnerving thing he had ever faced since his first taste of combat in Catigny. He could not help starting to look around, worried whatever the thing Rex was talking to was only a distraction

Unable to understand what the head or Rex are saying, Vivian also looks around for signs of potential trouble.

"Something about the people are gone, prepare for the worst as the Empire world rides again...all worlds? Huh." In English to the others.
Latin: "Empire World? Could you make your warning clearer?"

"Empire world. The Ancient Enemy that stalks all life. Kills and eats civilizations to feed itself. Predator planet..." the head continues to talk.
Vivian and Lex could see no signs of anything, but Vivian also noted that the lamps at the camp were unlit.

Not seeing any waiting threats, Lex still kept his guard up, though he split his attention between their surroundings and Rex.
