"Is that wit you just used?" he asks Lex, returning the smile. "Sure Duchess, if someone has an extra pistol, and instructions how to use it. In case we run into another too friendly snake."

The Duchess tips her pith helmet forward and skips towards the ruins. "Let's be off then. Tally Ho."

"I used some of yours." Lex replied, smirking at Rex," You only seem to be using half of yours." He nodded to the Duchess," Lead the way. Hopefully the worst is behind us and this goes fairly smooth."

Judging from the scowl on her face, Vivian doesn't seem to find Lex's remark all that amusing as she inserts another arrow into her bow and waits for the group to be ready to leave.

"I've been meaning to ask. It's a fine weapon, but what inspired you to pursue archery?"

The five of you (Lex, Rex, Vivian, the Duchess and Matt) make their way into the Inca ruins as the sky begins to redden with the closing of the day.

Rex is taking notes, doing sketches, "My professors would love to see half this."

"I've been meaning to ask. It's a fine weapon, but what inspired you to pursue archery?" Vivian shrugs at Rex and says, "My father has always had an interest in archery and, much to my mother's dismay, he let me try it when I was younger. He said I had a natural talent for it and encouraged me to continue practising it, despite my mother's annoyance." Perception: 1d20

Lex held a bit of pride as Vivian was complimented on her, but as she gave all the credit to her father, it bothered him a bit because of all the time he had spent with her before she had been ready to join him on nigh patrols of the city. Instead of being rude though, he simply buried his pride and and continued on quietly on their task.

Lex and Rex both can see shadows forming along the ground...some that don't seem to match the architecture of the temple.
The Duchess is looking about and preparing some entry tools. "A wonderful way to close the day, no?" She grins at Lex primarily.

"Don't suppose it's a skill you can teach?" Eyes glancing to the shadows forming along the ground, hoping to alert Vivian to possible trouble.

Lex picked up on the shadows, and immediately reached into his pack to reveal why it was so bulky. While he did not dare bring his entire suit, his blade gauntlet was a welcome fit as he flexed his wrist," Should have used this on that snake instead of trying to shoot it. A Tommy would come in handy about now too." He hoped his hints would be picked up by the others as he prepared for whatever was causing the out of place shadows.

Vivian is still unawares despite Rex's efforts.
Matt tips his hat. "Now...that is something...."
Lex can make out this much - the shadows that don't match the architecture are large, possibly...some kind of object or obelisk.

Lex started looking around specifically for the source of the out of place shadow he spotted on the floor.
