Foreman's movie nights were a success, boasting a near 100% attendance rate (Tawfeek always rotated someone on the bridge, as per safety rules)!
Tawfeek, rather than let a rat into the ship itself had sucked the air out of the hold, killing it bloodlessly. Well, it and its little family (they were nestled in the one crate). Tawfeek felt a little sad about the babies, but soon got over it. The carcasses were handed over to McKenna to bolster the nutrients in hydroponics. To stifle objections, he made sure it was known it was either rat ferilizer or rat soup.
It turned out that ckeaned rat bones bones provided the needed properties for Jessica's gimmule-clip prottype.
Outside the sky was still very black and starry, with Saturn finally starting to get some colour to its little dot. They would be there in just under a week.
Tawfeek, Mensk and Jessica were outside walking along the hull to a safe place for the first test fire. Tawfeek didn't want it shot inside the ship, and they were really just going to point it off the stern and pull the trigger.
Tawfeek had a jury-rigged gun mount, Jessica would handle the weapon, while Mensk would do measurements and Foreman was watching with the ship's sensors on the bridge.
The cargo hold doors were wide open, in someone needed to be dragged back in.
McKenna was in the hold. She had an obscured view of the action... and an extra tether and a stretcher and a medical kit and the doors planned for a quick move into medical.
[On the hull, facing aft]
Tawfeek secured the gun mount while everyone got into place.
"Are we all ready?" he asked, expecting everyone to check in. He had explained that there were to be no errors and everyone was to pay attention. Financial freedom may be far off, but it would be a lot closer if they did their job right.
