Issue 20: A Well Deserved Rest

"Wait, how come I get stupid boring Creel and you guys get to take on Nitro. That's just unfair. I get a seat at the kiddie's table while you hog all the turkey for yourself? I don't think so. Do you think that's fair, Nitro? I KNOW you're on my side on this one." Spidey talks as he leaps toward, runs across and adheres to the surface of the building that Nitro is standing on the roof of, trying to get to the villain before he can explode. If he does, he will start webbing his feet to the building so that when Cap's shield strikes, Nitro will fall forward but smack his face straight into the building. Web Strike: 1d20+12

If he sees that Nitro is going to explode before he can reach him, Spider-Man will fire two strands of webbing at Nitro (one from each wrist), leap off the side of the building, twist his body so that he is facing away from the building with his arms pointing toward the sky, and pull Nitro off of the building, flinging him into the sky where he can explode semi-harmlessly. [Dome]

DD detects the grenade coming in and tries to jump away from the grenade before it goes off. He jumps away and doesn't get the full force of the bang. Unfortunately though, due to the nature of his abilities, (Heightened Sense of Hearing) it still has him grabbing his ears and screaming in pain as the device goes off.

He yells out, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Leaping out of the way, tucks into a roll and comes up claws ready. "One too many psychic blasts Cain? I think the word you meant is kiss, not kick." Borrowing a page from Spider-Man, Logan's trying to keep Juggernaut's attention focused on him, rather than his companions.

The shield careened off the side of the building and caught Nitro in the back just as Iron Man flew behind the villain and used his repulsors to use the opening Captain America gave him to push Nitro up and away from the building. That caused Spiderman's initial web attempt to miss and actually hit Iron Man in the shoulder.That caused him to halt the repulsors push just as Spideys' second blasts struck and he slung Nitro in to sky. Spidey felt someone grasp him around the waist and Iron Man flew them safely to the ground just as Cap's shield returned to him just in time for Nitro to explode harmlessly overhead, though the shockwave blew out the windows across the street and peppered everything with loose debris.

Tony landed next to Cap, letting Spiderman go and then attempting to wipe the webbing from his chest," This," he pointed at the mess on his suit, "is why you get the kiddie table." All around them, people that had escaped from the bar were leaving as fast as they could, just as police and fire were arriving on scene.



Juggernaut had been distracted by Wolverine and did not see Blink approach him until it was too late and he vanished through one of her portals. Aura's blinding light successfully made up Absorbing Man's mind as he scooped Titania into his arms and headed out the nearest exit while Tally heard Melissa moan something, the first sign she was going to be okay as Hawkeye tended to her.

At the same time, Kitty had seen enough concussions between X-men missions and danger room sessions to see Tabitha most likely had one as she replied in an almost sing songy tone, " Okay, umm jist gunna take ahhh nap ohhver herr." before laying on the floor and curling up in a fetal position.


Atlas' tone sounded like he didn't want to tell She Hulk as he answered," Well, you hit her the same time I pulled her off you, and she sort of went through what was left of the bar and landed in a heap. Then Creel backed down on a deal with Hawkeye and the two of them fled. Please don't hit me for trying to help." Her vision was returning enough to see he was grinning, and she could also make out past him that Daredevil looked to be in trouble after a loud pop and another flash not nearly as bright as the one Aura had unleashed

The blast from the flash bang was disorienting, causing Daredevil's radar sight to blur and scramble somewhat as he cried out . Luckily poor judgement by Masque caused the explosive to knock out the holographic projector, so most of the team still in action were able to see DD in distress. Matt however knew he was lucky as his senses began to reset themselves except for a terrible ringing in his ears and his balance slightly off

Outside was a much larger blast that shook the remains of the building, followed by the roar of a approaching sirens.

Across everyone's identicard communicators came Dr. Foster's voice, " Sounds like I missed a party. Thought you might need a designated driver to get home. Quin Jet inbound, ETA three minutes."

Blink seeing no reason to stick around now and walked outside. She was no medic and there was the soldier and the rest of the avengers..a few of them must have had some medical skills till their doctor arrived. Blink was left with another problem..One she'd need to resolve.

"I have things to do and people to find." she called behind her, "Been fun..You avengers keep on avenging." then left the remains of the bar. As she passes Stark, she nods at him. Her home dimension would not a good place to live..with the X-men she knew gone probably. The Exiles cause becoming a bit much lately...She needed something that was missing for a long time. A home. Perhaps this dimensions Magneto or Charles Xavier if he was not insane would be worth looking up. With that thought she started off not quite sure where to look.

"Alright, it seems like you have a concussion.." Kitty explains to Tabitha as she curls up. "No napping! You better stay awake.." she then growls, giving the other woman a little shake. "We'll get you checked out by a doctor ASAP."

Wracking her brain, Kitty tries to remember what all she can do about a concussion here and now. When the voice comes over the identicard, though, she lets out a little sigh of relief. "We're getting out of here in a few minutes.." the young heroine offers to Tabby, giving her another firm little shake.

Tally lands and puts Melissa down while she decides which of her friends she should help. But seeing one of the others is tending to Tabitha allows her to take care of Melissa and try her own first aid.

Doing her best she gets down to her knees and applies what little knowledge she has in hopes to help the girl.

"Sure, sure, Atlas." She-hulk said. "I try not to knock out guys trying to do the gentlemanly thing."

Observing Daredevil in trouble she starts his way. "Looks like DD needs a hand, lets go help him."

She'll keep an eye out for the person who lite DD up with the grenade. Still, it was nice to know that She-Hulk got Titanna back for what she did to Mel; too bad she could keep pounding her a few more times just remind her not do that to Mel ever again. Another time perhaps.

Cap gets in on his communicard. "Good work, Doctor. Please bring all emergency response teams as well. We'll have lots of injuries." He turns to Iron Man. "Do we have any way to neutralize Nitro? He'll just reform again soon."

Logan's claws retract with but a thought, catching Tabitha's remark, heads over to the duo. "C'mon Kitty, get her up on her feet."

As Captain America posed his question, Iron Man replied," I've got a way to get rid of him." At the same time he was pointing at Blink as she exited the building. " Blink, can you come here. I have a plan to get rid of Nitro when he reforms if you're game?" His visor came open and he winked at Cap, " Who needs a fastball special when you've got a portal express? Spidey, think you can distract him so we can get in position?" All four could see the Quinjet coming in to land on the other side of the building

She Hulk's eyes were nearly cleared other than a bit of haze by the time she reached Daredevil, while Atlas continued passed to check for the grenade thrower. He came back in the door and said, " Looks clear outside, except for the police arriving."

Tabitha groaned at Kitty , " Awww mom... I don wunna guh tuh school tuhday...," as she resisted, but stiffened a bit at the sound of Logan's voice. "Ahm surrius, ahh qck napp an ahm baccck un thus fight."

Melissa opened her eyes just as Hawkeye joined Aura. Songbird's eyes narrowwed and ,"OWW! What the hell hit me?"

Hawkeye smiled, "Good to see you'll be okay." He keyed his communicard, " Doc, we have two possibly three team members down, but no major injuries I think, but like to get them out as soon as possible.

" Copy, coming into the south entrance now." Dr. Foster replied " Touch down in 30 seconds."

Aura is a bit indecisive on what to do as both her friends are down and emotions are running a bit high. Seeing Melissa's eyes open up lets her at least add a smile. This coupled with Tabitha speaking up causes her to look between the two ladies, "You are both all right!" She says hugging Melissa and then flying over and Hugging Tabitha without thinking of any of their conditions or any in her way.

Cap nods to Iron Man. "Do it."

"I can reach the moon if I really try..." the mutant offered jokingly as she nods and opens one, "Ironman, I need a word with later in private after...if its not too much trouble." Blink added.

"could just stun him with a stun-gun or something soon as he reformed before he could explode.. It would buy you time to put power dampening cuffs on him. this works fine too though." she offered with a shrug as she opened the portal.

"Hey Daredevil, how you holding up?" She-Hulk asks the man without fear, who probably was now the man without hearing.
