Issue 20: A Well Deserved Rest

[Dome]

DD shakes his head trying to help his senses right themselves. The flash bang would have been disorienting to anyone, but someone with his set of abilities it was down right painful. His ringing ears limiting him even more than his lack of vision usually did. He staggers to his feet and leans against the wall as his sense of balance is still off.

He can make out he voice talking to him he says, "I have been better."

He remembers that Tabby had taken a hit just before he did so he looks around, "how is everyone else," he asks concern in his voice.

Kitty stiffens a little at being called mom, then shakes it off.. quickly, she stands, then helps Tabby to her feet, ducking herself under the other woman's arm to offer some support. "No sleeping, not with a concussion. Evac will be here shortly.." she chides Tabby quietly. "I'll help you, just lean on me.."

"Regenerating from a concussion ain't pretty when you can do it," says Logan, draping Tabitha's other arm over his shoulders, helping Kitty keep her upright and mobile.

[dakota]

"Well Ghostsabre found out her head isn't as hard as Juggernaut's ," Atlas replied, pointing toward Wolverine and Shadowcat practically carrying Tabitha," And Songbird took a good belt from Titania before She Hulk handled her. Don' know what happened outside, Spidey went to find out." He draped Daredevil's arm over his neck to support him to the door.

Hawkeye had Tabitha in his arms and smiled as Aura embraced her, "Come on Avengers, I think that was enough partying for one night. We nearly brought the house down."

Tabitha replied to Logan and Kitty as they more dragged her than helped her," Otay, U'll stay ahhhhwake for now, bud cunn I sleep in the car?" As Aura swooped in and hugged her, she said, "Ezzy Tally, dey sez I might buh cuncussed, buh Amm nut sure." She grinned with glazed over eyes, " Ahhh sound luck Rogue whun Ahhh talk." she giggled.

The door slung open and Doc Foster stood there, shaking his head. " What a sorry lot this is. Maybe I should go come back to field ops?"


Outside, as Ironman took Blink up in his arms, he replied," Stun cuffs are a good idea, but if you just port him into the Raft, it will save us some time. Besides,I forgot to put some in my pocket." As they circled overhead, there was no sign of Nitro yet. "So what did you want to talk about? Looks like we have time."

Watching Ironman and Blink take off, something caught Cap's eye as he saw Dr. Foster exit the landed QuinJet and enter the building. Someone might have entered the the Quinjet. Spidey wasn't sure either.

"Spider-Man, with me." As he moves towards the Quinjet.

"I am sorry." Aura says as she stays near her two friends but lets the more experienced carry them to the jet. In her head she is a bit worried about her friends and how their night was ruined in a way. "I am sorry that the night did not turn out fun." She says to Jen and Melissa.

[Dome]

DD allows himself to be helped to his feet but he shakes off the arm over the shoulder, "I'll be ok, thanks, just got hit by the flashbang."

He pauses as he takes a few steps trying to find his center of balance again and says, "so... did we win?"

He thinks, 'I sure hope so, otherwise tonight is a complete waste. We blew off dinner to come here and get our asses kicked.'

He heads for Tabitha, "how you doin? Heard you tried to dance with a juggernaut."

"You've got it Cap. If it's a distraction you want, it's a distraction you'll get!" Spider-Man follows Captain America toward the Quinjet trusting in his Spidey Sense to warn him of any danger.

"I was curious about if you could help me get a supply crystal pins and redesign them into something I can carry more of..like throwing knives, bolos or something. I was more curious about this places options besides he Avengers and if you could help me out getting in touch with a few options. I had to meant to ask later but if you want to know now..." she replied.

"I'm not entirely sure and about the X-men and other groups I knew on my earth and all." she asked.

"Don't sweat it, Aura." Jen says. "It happens all the time when your an Avenger. Actually makes the outings more fun."

She was glad to see that Mel was doing alright. "How you holding up? You took a big hit from Titania."

Kitty offers a curt nod to Daredevil as he approaches, still helping Tabitha along. "It looks like a concussion.. she should be ok with some rest." the young x-man replies mildly.

[Dome]

DD thinks, 'we don't get to do much resting as avengers. I didn't even get to have one bite of my dinner tonight.'

He nods, "I think we all could use some," he says a headache coming on thanks to the results of the flash bang. He wants to say more, especially about and to Tabby, after all he had a lot higher hopes for tonight than ending up on the Quinjet surrounded by other heroes, but the company others stilled his tongue. For not the first time since getting it he wanted to just throw his Avenger communicard away.

Right now he just wanted to make sure Tabby was ok, and then get home. Tonight was a bust.

He leans close to Tabitha and whispers for her to hear, "I hope your ok Tabby. I think I still owe you dinner."

Tabitha looked at Daredevil with glazed eyes silently, then leaning heavier into Wolverine, grabbed Daredevil and pulled him in to kiss him passionately. The moment was ruined a bit with her slurred speech after she released, " Ah hope ull daytez with yu arr thiz egggcitin." The she glanced at Kitty and a childlike giggle escaped her, " thus iz a luttle weird. Righd?"


Songbird nodded as they headed for the door, slowly," I hink I'll be okay, but got a wicked lump on the back of my head. Did you thump her for me?"

Hawkeye patted Aura on the shoulder, " Don't blame yourself. Jenn's right, this is an average night out for us. Let's go home, Avengers."

"You'd bail on this bunch?" Iron Man said in surprise as they looped around. " Well, right now you've got both North American Avenger teams here, me and Cap. I guess I could drop you on Xavier's doorstep, but you'd get board over there. Why else would Wolvie and Kitty be here? Blades shouldn't be an issue, providing I can borrow one to check out the crystaline structure. Did you see which way Cap and .... what are they doing heading for the QuinJet? I thought the plan was find Nitro?"


As Cap and Spiderman boarded the craft, They could see Nitro was indeed reforming, using the cockpit to hide. He wasn't quite back together yet, but it didn't prevent his mouth from going. " Tsktsk, you two are supposed to be smart ones. Coming into a confined space with a bomb ready to go off? Not my idea of smart."

Outside, the club door had opened and the other Avengers were about to start boarding..

She-Hulk smiles to Songbird, "I think her boyfriend was carrying her out, so yeah, I got her good for ya."

She pauses a moment to look around after stepping outside. She close her eyes briefly, before saying rather loudly, "Okay, who flatten my car. The guilty party should step up now before I have to go looking for them... because someone really got on my bad side tonight."

Needless to say, she was not very happy.

Tally feels the pat on her shoulder and smiles, "I know but just once I want, well you know, something not to happen as it seems something always does. It is almost as if the world is working against us if you know what I mean?" She says with an almost look of frustration on her face.
