Scarecrow pays $8 for the 100 feet of rope and then has to figure out how and where to lay his trap.
(Need Detect ambush and trap construction rolls if you have those skills)

Nope, don't have either of those skills. I wasn't expecting it to be that complicated. As far as to where to lay the trap, that would entirely depend on where he spots a Zombie entering an alleyway since it's an oppertunity based thing. I figured a farmer could tie a noose or loop easily enough and he's using invisibility when he gets up on a fire escape. His skills are kind of low, but if needed I suppose I could roll General Repair/Maitnence or something (for basic rope skills like say tying ropes to hoist hay bales or whatever) to see how long it takes him to prepare a decent noose, but I figure he'd get it eventually before trying to set an ambush like this. The plan was to drop the rope manually even if it's attached to the fire escape, I'd imagine that would take a strike roll, but it is a zombie, and presumably won't be expecting that. As far as The Scarecrow being ambushed goes, yeah well.. he's not an espionage agent so a decent ambush will work (no skills in that area at all).

Scarecrow sets up his ad hoc Zombie trap. Crouching in the night beneath a fire escape, he waits patiently.
Until a pair of strong, warm (living) hands grab him from behind and drag him into the building.
"What the hell are you doing, ya damn fool?" The man is incredibly strong, and Caleb feels the hands digging into his shoulders like a vice as he's thrown to the ground.
Looking up, he sees a big man - nearly six and a half feet tall and built like a circus strongman. He's wearing sand coloured jodphurs and a simple white T-shirt. His hair is close cropped and black as midnight, but it's those deep green eyes that take you in. Caleb sees the thousand yard stare he knows too well from looking in the mirror. This is a man who's seen war.
"Care to explain yourself, partner?"

This is a man who's seen war. "Care to explain yourself, partner?" "Well Hoss, I was wondering the same thing about you. It seems like I'm not the only one checking this alleyway out. Some rather odd fellows shambling through here if you catch my drift. I didn't think the police would understand the vibe I get from some of these guys, so I figured I was going to have to capture one" Caleb isn't in his costume, so he figures that will have to pass for an explanation as to why he's trying to hang people with nooses in alleyways (having been caught red handed, which is a first for him... ironic how this Yahoo caught him when Dark Rider gave up... oh how this burns Caleb's pride). Beating this guy up (or trying to) or pulling a gun isn't in keeping with Caleb's morality since this guy hasn't done anything wrong, so being caught like this limits his options, though he's definatly not going to give the details unless this guy knows more than he lets on.

The strong man raises an eyebrow before offering his hand. "The men controlling the zombies won't be so foolish as to fall into a trap like that. Better than that has been tried. Now, you want to do something? I can help. Care to follow along?"

"Maybe, but who are you? I was actually thinking these... what did you call them... Zombies... were acting independantly. I haven't seen anyone in close proximity giving them orders to notice such a trap" Caleb shrugs as he feigns ignorance.
"I suppose I can follow you, you seem to know more about what's going on than I do".
Caleb isn't in costume and has no desire to out himself any more as a super hero. Besides he suspects that perhaps this guy is one of those controlling the zombies, after all the fat guy he ran into before said he was working for someone.

"My Name's Augustus Mayerts." The man answers. "And they've got a master. Several. They get a few orders and can act independently, for a while anyways. This way." He leads you down the alley.

OOC-> Sorry thought I posted already.
Caleb will follow the man (for the moment) and says "You know more about this problem than I do, I'm not exactly the heroic sort, and kind of figure the best way to deal with the problem would just be to out these things to the authorities right?" Caleb is actually fishing to see if Augustus here believes the local authorities have been compromised.

Augustus doesn't break stride. "You are clearly new to the situation; These zombies are the law in this town. Well, at least until we have something to sa about it."
The big man opens a heavy steel door down a staircase. "My brothers and I heard stories from a few of the folk what got out and we came looking to settle things. People don't deserve to live in fear like this." His big hands clench into sledgehammer size fists.
In the basement you see two more men. The youngest of the two is sharpening a pair of small silver knives. The elder - older than Augustus by a couple of years and sporting a thick beard, is unpacking several crates armed with ancient melee weapons - many of them Arabic in nature, but a mix of others you'd seen from men in Chinatown. Their clothing and methods scream "French Foreign Legion" to you from your time in the war.

"That... sounds bad. I see your friends have some training" Caleb nods to the legionaires "I have a sidearm and a spare magazine, I came here for a land deal not to wage war against the living dead, but I'll back you if you have a target in mind." Caleb is willing to defer to Augustus for the moment, being out of costume and not being that familiar with the situation.

Augustus shakes his head. "We don't much go for guns. Not since the legion. These are my brothers; Ezekiel is our weapons smith and equipment hound." Augustus slaps the bearded man's shoulder - Ezekiel grunts, not taking his eyes of the pair of scimitars he just unpacked. "and Patrick here is our resident librarian when it comes to spooks and monsters and magic." The younger Mayerts jams the knives into the wooden table to shake your hand. "Howdy. "
Augustus then turns back to you. "See anything you need before we go hunting?"

Caleb returns the handshake and says "I'm afraid I don't have any real skill with exotic cutlery, but I'll make do with what I have as best I can".
He'll leave to follow them hunting (albiet very warily) when they are ready to go.
OOC-> Not much computer time recently, but it's settled now.

The three men set out. Augustus looks to the youngest brother. "So, any idea where we can be getting our hands on the most of these varmits?"
Patrick responds as he grabs a can of kerosene. "My advice, let's burn boot hill. Can't make zombies without the dead."

"I suppose that's a sensible enough plan, but if you suspect that is where the bodies are being collected from, perhaps we should consider staking it out, seeing who collects them, and following them back to some of the guys doing the animating. If we were to destroy this source they will just move on to another one."

Augustus pauses and nods. "The guy has a point. Let's give it a try." His brother concede as you decide to lay in wait at the Boot Hill Cemetery.
Patrick moves close to you as you sit behind a tombstone. "You a vet too?"
