Khris nods as Dante explains, " One of our team, a young man called Rock, stood up to the demons much like you do and held his own for some time. The problem is it affected his mind and he is terrified to try again, to the point he needed to stay hospitalized for the first little bit after his recovery. I think you could also help Rock because the two of you are the only two I know of to have any success against them. If you are willing?"

Blockade nods to Khris. "Of course," she says. Dante can tell she means it.
Seeming to change the subject, though the two are connected in her mind Blockade asks, "How much time do you need? Exactly. To the minute."

" To the minute?" Khris asked, confused. " I don't think anyone has analyzed it that closely." He pulled out his cell and fired off a text to Tiger to ask. He looked up," I appreciate your offer to help Rock, but can I ask a question? Why do you do what you do, when it seems the rest of Division One has their thumb up their ass?"

Blockade glances at the Colonel and he speaks up, "The others in Division One all die, but none of them slow the demons down. Not even one minute. Some of them still go out occasionally when they think up something new to try. And a new one arrives every once in a while. But none of them can stop the demons."
Flying in a EWACS plane over Europe, Tiger gets Khris' text and responds: [24:00:00]. She doesn't really know, but Marv - backed by Roan and Lt. White have told her this is the best estimate. 24 hours.

Khris sighed, showing Dante the reply, " We need a mimimum of 24 hours for them to be ready. How do you stop them? maybe we can come up with another way that doesnt involve dying all the time."

Dante frowns when he reads the message, he thinks, '24 minutes is a stretch, let alone 24 hours.'
He says, "what exactly do you do to the demons to slow them? Maybe we can find a way to increase your distance or increase the strength of it."

Blockade shrugs, "Certainly. The demon's power has the same deadly impact on me as on everyone else. I have a very slow metabolism. I age more slowly and I can slow the damage from the demon's attack without even concentrating. I could also slow the demon down, but for that I end up using something else...."
She gestures, and the Colonel starts to float in the air, weightless. "Gravity."

"So what if we switch your tactics?" Khris asked. " You go right at them, how your ground until you finally succumb, heal out and go again when you are ready? I never fight that way. What if you could use hit and run tactics on them? All it would take would be to move in and out of range to attack them without staying long enough to be affected by the demon's powers"

Dante listens, and then says, "so Gravity slows them, what if while you slow it for just a few moments, and we open fire on it in those moments. Then we break off and try again."

The colonel responds to Khris: "The demon's power is like radiation poisoning. It kills you even if you leave the range." Bel nods, remembering how Tiger made no effort to get Rock to retreat even after she knew he was affected.
But Blockade turns to Dante, intrigued. "No one in Division One can get through the demon's shield. Can your secret weapon? If I hold the demon, can it inflict permanent damage?"
She turns back to Khris, "Your tactics tell me that your weapon doesn't necessarily involve anyone dying. Are you using a ranged weapon? Or if you plan to get close how do you avoid dying?" Blockade seems curious.

"I'm afraid it's retardedly top secret." Khris replied. " But out first try managed to hold his own for a time until he succumbed to the affects. " He thought for a moment, "Have you tested whose range is longer between you and the demons? I still think darting through their range has to be more effective than going head on. Especially if we did it at a fairly high rate of speed. Say, with a daredevil of a driver and a crotch rocket?" he couldn't help smirking as he got an idea.

Dante nods, "maybe we can can even use a remote guidance package to drive you through the area, or close to the area," he says referring using his telemechanics ability on a bike.

Khris shook his head, " Don't have time to build something like that." He turned and looked at their escort, " Hey, how quick can you me something fast to drive? I don't mean some crappy jeep like you usually issue. And drag some of your Division One people out of whatever crap they are doing other than being helpful. In fact, I want all of them out here now. If they aren't going to help , then they can get their asses out there helping the refugees and any more we might be about to displace. Now!". He turned and looked at Dante and Bel, " You want me to step up, you may regret it. Bel, get all of the healers we have on standby, I plan to make your job busy during the next 24 hours. Blockade gets priority because she's the key, but we look after all of our people involved. Dante, you co-ordinate staging the next teams and the recovery if and when anyone goes down, okay?"
He turned back to Blockade, his mind obviously contemplating something, " All right, just how close do we have to get you to affect them, and how far into their range are you before you can affect them? need to figure out how to make this work."
"Let's go people. Our friends are counting on us to make this work."

Dante shakes his head, "we don't have to build anything. I just need a few moments with the vehicle, and I can drive it from like 500 ft away," he says tapping his head. "Keeps secondary casualties down this way," he says to Khris.

Blockade says, "My range is over 200 feet, but the demon is so big I need to be about 200 ft away to lock it down completely."
The Colonel speaks, still floating in the air, at the mention of vehicles and Dante's plan. "It might be difficult to find a better vehicle. It can't have any computers on board. That is why we aren't using robots or drones: they break down inside the radius." Blockade let's him down and he scurries away to find the rest of division one.
"Yes," Blockade says. "Even humvees don't work. We use old jeeps to get in close. The demon's radius is about half a mile."
