Ch. 19 The Xscape (Everyone)

"I am ok Trevor. Concerned for her is all. Alice, what do you have in mind to bring this to an end?"

Alice almost looks embarrased and chuckles quietly as she sends a message to the three around her 'Oh, I was supposed to have a plan? I hadn't thought that far ahead' she smiles sheepishly. Thinking for a few minutes, she shrugs and sends 'Well, what if we tried to set up a trap for him? Something he wouldn't be able to resist going after because, well, he's insane'

William chimes in urgently. "Have you identified the target, yet?" He asks. Shaking his head. "Kerry, Ave, if I don't hear from them in a few minutes, you send one of those dog-guards in there. Foil it big time."

*eyes shifts nervously from Kristiens face to the stranger's and then back .. the knot in the pit of the stomache seems to build and makes her almost ill with worry.

" And how am I supposed to do that, I'd need a telephone pole to play fetch with them." Kerry answered.

" Kerry..." Avi interuppted with a flat tone.

" I know just shut up and do it. " Kerry moaned. " I'll find a way to draw their attention."

Trvor shrugge, looking right at Alice. " There's only one of us here he'd go after that badly. What do you want us to do?"

Alice is silent for a moment, and it occurs to her that Jason wouldn't be very happy with her for taking a risk like this. Sighing, she thinks that there isn't much else they can do and resolves to stick with her plan, however dangerous it was. She sends a message telepathically to Dmitri, Isamu and Trevor 'He won't come after me until he's sure I'm alone. Stay back, but keep me within view. If he kills me, not only will you have to deal with my ghost, but you'll have to deal with a pissed off Jason and Will... and I don't think you want that. Of course,' Alice adds, 'if any of you have any suggestions, please let me know. This is my first time at this.'

"That's the spirit, Kerry. Mind you, whistling would be less destructive to your environment, if you know what I mean." William says. "Avery, I need you to get a clean shot on Klaxon, since he's already guarding the other way out, so whomever Wraith's patsy is, he's done anyways. Alice, I need an ID on the target, kid. Someone in there let me know Wraith's looking to hit. If we can stop the hit, that'll be enough for today. Don't let him make you focus on him. Focus on his target, that's what really matters. Dmitri, get ready for a fast exit."

Craig focused on Vance. He was making his move in the open! He couldn't be that arrogant, could he? After a brief recap of their past conversations, Craig felt he could. Taking a deep breath to calm his pounding heart, which was beating so hard it was drowning out the music, Craig started moving forward.

Before getting more than one step forward, Craig was bumped. Frustrated, he didn't even look at the man who'd bumped him. He was intent on stopping what he'd been a part of earlier even if it cost him his life.

When he was within range, Craig shouted out, "Vance, I can't let you do this, man!"

It's definitely too late to turn back now, Craig thought.

*blinks as the stranger moves on and then yells at someone else. looking at Kristien comments ' ... uhhh ... i think something is gonna happen that shouldn't ... does that mean we gotta go now? ... or .. well i can had stuff out, well to you if you need help .. you know .. well ... ' *worried at the anger she had heard in that stranger's voice. the face was the same as the man who's lap she almost sat in by mistake.

*her eyes try to follow his [Craig's] movements, but is distracted when her gaze crosses over Kristien' profile and then looks the other way, wondering who'll watch HIS back and recalls it would be her that would, if things came to push and shove.

" Can't let me do what?" Vance smirked evilly with a shrug from behind Terri. She gave Craig a puzzled look as she look a drink from her glass, and as she did Craig could see a strange powder in the bottom of the glass. she set the glass down and looked back at Vance. " He doesn't want me to dance with....," her eyes went wide as she realized something was wrong. " What did you do to me?" She asked in a panicked yell, back away.

Vance grinned even more as he stepped forward and before she could yell again, Terri disappeared. Vance looked at Craig directly in his path, " Now just do your job and make sure nothing happens to us on the way out or get out of my way. You're choice."


" Did you just see that?" Kristian turned to Sierra in shock. She had indeed looked back in time to see the woman disappear between the pair of men. " Let's check this out." He said as he walked closer until he was behind Craig. " What's going on here, mon? What did you do wit that woman?"

Vance shook his head and motioned to Craig. " Time to earn your keep."

"<All set, Will.>" Dimitri replied to Will before smiling at Alice. " Looks like your off the hook."

"<I got him Will, but it seems like a waste of bullets.>" Avery replied with a slight chuckle.

"< How come you can say stuff like that?>" Kerry butted in, "< Wait a minute, one of them is turning back now. I'd say he heard something inside.>"

Trevor turns his head as someone acrossed the room shouted ' What did you do to me?' over the crowd. "Terri?" He said to himself. " Alice, I gotta check this out. Be right back." and started to walk towards the shout that no one else seemed to pay attention to.

"Trevor, Where are you going? We should stick together," Isamu calls after Trevor as he walks away.

"<The hit's going down. Kerry, block that rear exit. Avery meet me in the front take the shot at Klaxon and meet me in the front, we're going in formal.>" William says. "<Someone inside, what just happened?>"

At the same time, he moves over to Avery's position. "We're only after the perps, don't let anythign distract you from that. Unless it's the dog-guards." He says when he arrives. "Ready?"

[Dome]

Isamu quickly taps his band-aidio, "<there was some shouting, and Trevor said he needed to check it out. We cannot be sure what has occurred. At the moment Wraith is not visible and we do not know where he is, or how to draw him out. Alice had a plan, but with Trevor distracted, I think we should hold off.>"

*looks stunned for a moment and comments 'holy shii....' *then shakes the head to clear the thoughts as Kristien follows {craig] the one they had collided with. and then points out the obvious 'you ... you were wtih him ... what did you do? .. where did she go? '

*the rising panic and the massive press of meta's nearby continues to press at her threshhold to her newly found power's tolerance. and scared as she is, she locks eyes on the man [vance] who made the woman vanish. 'i don't think you really want to do this ... just bring her back and i won't have to get ticked'

"You're wrong, Vance. I've changed my mind. I can't let you kidnap this girl," Craig shouted so that he could be heard.

Hopefully the bodyguard will get here before Vance has a chance to kill me, Craig thought.

Hearing the voice of the friend of the lady who nearly sat in his lap earlier, Craig said without taking his eyes off Vance, "He's trying to kidnap that girl for ransom... and I was a part of it. But, not now."

"Time to earn your keep," Vance said.

"No, Vance," Craig said, voice wavering as he struggled to control his fear. "You're not leaving with her. Release her!"

Deep inside his head, a little voice began saying prayers. Part of him was convinced he was about to die.

At least I'll have a clear conscience, Craig thought.
