As Daredevil and Cap's throws strike their targets, the two spheres were suddenly seperated from one another. Immediately, the spherers began to reduce in size as the water began to gush out from where Caps shield had sliced through. Both Tabitha and Union Jack began to panic.

On the board, the white bishop slid from it's place, a laser blast strafing squares in front of it past X-23 so close she could feel the heat.

Then the black queen moved into the clear. As it did, a laser targeter began to track towards Wolvie

Cap, seeing the fields contract decides on another tactic. "AURA! absorb and copy the forcefield energy to see if you can stabilize and expand those bubbles!" Cap catches his shield. "Shadowcat! Spider-Man! Find me the generator for those bubbles and take them out!"

Kitty had hoped she'd be quick enough, that the sub would be closer, anything to give them a possible advantage, but pulls up abruptly as she realizes that she is wrong. A soft, un-lady-like curse is muttered beneath her breath as she does so; the sounds of continued combat, however, draws her attention back to the chess-board.

Seeing several of her comrades in trouble with the chess pieces, and uncertain of what could be done to deal with the energy field, Kitty makes a quick decision and charges at the Black Queen, phasing herself out as she does so.

"I hope this this has internal electronics.." she growls, throwing a phased body-block at it, in hopes of shorting it.

As Aura touched the sphere containing Union Jack, she still received a jolt, but the pattern had stabilized enough that she could copy the energy field. Inside, the british hero turned her a treaded water closer to the sides," The bubbles should stop shrinking if you can plug the hole." His voice was tired and raspy, but his superior conditioning let him keep going.

As Daredevil studied the problem, he too could tell the energy sphere was shrinking at the rate the water was pouring out of the hole. Though it was hard for his radar to sense through, he could tell Tabitha was struggling.

While he handed out directions, Captain America could see there was a bigger problem than the sphere's shrinking as Ghostsabre, despite her efforts, bobbed under the surface. When she popped her head back up, she was gagging, and going much slower. He had seen enough people drown over his years to know she was about to give up.

Both DD and Cap were close enough to hear her between coughs," I'm sorry, I can't go..." she slipped below the surface again.

No one seemed to answer X-23 as she asked for rules. Another white pawn moved forward, near the black one. Suddenly from the white one a arm protruded from the black pawn and speared the head of the white pawn, destroying it while the white pawn moved forward. At the same time, the black queen started to move forward along the opened path, only to stop suddenly as Kitty phased through it.

Shadowcat emerged from the other side of the disabled queen , realizing the internal curcuits were similar to the nazibots on the surface. Next to her, the king King suddenly buzzed and the pulse of a force wave washed out of it, knocking her back through the queen ( tak [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6] damage from blast) as all the other pieces teetered from the pulse.

"No time to be subtle. Time to be fearless." Cap hoists Daredevil and tosses him towards Ghostsabre. "Get her out of there."

Tally decides to follow the orders and starts to search the area to see if she can find something, anything to stop up the hole to slow it's shrinkage. Logan snorts, launching himself at the closest piece, claws set to dig in to climb up to the top to do some damage. "Damn you Rasputin...just couldn't be here, could ya?"

As Wolverine sputtered for unlikely help, a door on the far side of the chamber blew open, with the Euro Avengers filing in, looking a little worse for wear. Demolition Man shouted," Cap? Whaddya need?"

Daredevil, thanks to Cap's throw, landed at the base of Tabitha's sphere as water poured out around him. Ghostsabre had managed to get to the surface to take another breath, but was now suspended, eerily peaceful

As Aura tried to block the hole, she suddenly discovered something had happened. She could absorb the energy from the sphere enough that as she put her hands near the drain, she manipulated the size of the hole.

Spiderman webbed the tops of the pieces and pulled, causing the white king and queen and black rook to topple over, while he pulled the antenna like tops from the black king and white rook. Wolverine sunk his claws into a pawn, which tried to defend itself as the spear like arm protruded from the pawn [dice=20].
