"Sir no sir!" She says in response. "I just have no need for anything. When I was given option to join the military the judge put massive restrictions on it. I was just glad to be out I never thought of it as a restriction and stayed on the base all times. It is not like I need anything as it was told to me that anything I need the army will supply. This allows me to personally send a cheque to the family I had wronged. Even in my indirect manner." She says to the older male seemingly more relaxed with the Sargent. But she is respectful and puts down her comic book.

Simmons smiles, "I understand completely. I just wanted to offer you a bit of advice if that is all right? From an old timer to the new generation? You need to relax a little. This operation seems to be a little clandestine. Something outside the general scope of military operations. Your going to have to ease back a little on all the stuff they drilled into you in basic. Especially as far as saluting parade stance and coming to attention."

"I am sorry sir. That was not the military that drilled that into me save for the saluting but the rest was drilled into me in Madison Juvenile Correctional Facility. I will do my best to stop doing that though sir and am sorry for my mannerism. Does this mean sir that they did something with my agreement then so this may be possible?" She asks back.

If she were to look into his face she would see a concerned fatherly look that seems out of place on such young features . "Well we were all dragged onto this team. Based on the little I have heard, this is going to be a covert undercover operation. We may have to hide the fact that we are military most of the time. If your here your one of us, not sure what the deal was, but its safe to assume that the orders for this team will super cede any agreement, it super seeded my retirement."

"I don't look at it as a dragging," Forbes said as he gazed at his reflection in his boots. "The Army used to encourage us to be all we can be. I guess we're more than that and we've been given an opportunity to serve at the highest level. If anyone is indeed serving against his or her will, I'll request your discharge at once. I want people who want to be here, not people who are compelled to be here and resent this opportunity."
Forbes continued to stare at his own reflection in his mirror-shined boot. Something was remiss in the black leather finish, and he produced a rag and began to shine it while on his foot. Can't have shoddy footgear.
"Xander, if you don't mind? I'd like to designate some responsibilities at this point." He looked down at his boots and shook his head critically. "I understand you are in with supply, logistics, planning and medics. I'd like you to be our ops officer. I am unclear on your status in the field, but I know you're squared away. You'll get us what we need, and make sure we stay alive."
Still shining his boots. It gave him an excuse not to look at anyone. "McKenzie? You're to be my No. 1. You have the rank and experience. I've trusted you with my life many times, and have not been disappointed.
"Anthony Simmons?" Forbes looked at the sergeant comforting the new woman. That was what leadership was all about. He respected that. "I've been in the army for three years. I'm a mustang, ranger-qualified, specforce trained, and on Delta. I do not have your decades of experience as a leader. If you are willing, I'd like you to be the team sergeant, and my mentor. You fought in wars long before I was born and have experiences I can only read about. Help me not to screw up..."
"As for uniforms. Let me explain..." He began buffing a part on his ankle that would pass any inspection, save his own, and rocked back and forth with nervousness. "A civilian does not see a soldier. He sees a uniform. If we come in, wearing ACU's, an operator calls 'Flame On,' said civvy is going to see a soldier turning into The Human Torch. They'll remember a soldier did that. They will tell the press it was a super soldier in the United States Army. We're dressed like every swinging dick that comes along? We're Joe Nobody, and the civilian is having a psychotic break after a traumatic experience."
He looks up at Alex, gaze focusing on the bridge of her nose. It was the best he could do. "Alex? I will speak to my superiors about your status. We need to have a certain segregation from law enforcement to maintain operational stealth. If we could get your record expunged, or assign you a new identity, how would you like to proceed?"

Julia listens quietly to the conversation going on around her. As the teams medic, it was always a good idea to get familiar with the personalities of the people she would be working with so she could work with them and, if necessary, treat them more effectively. When Forbes mentions he would rather the team wore civilian clothes, Julia is glad she is wearing them, though she did opt to look neat for her first meeting with the new team.
When it's her turn, she nods and says, "Julia Sullivan, field medic." When Kenzie asks what the others can do, Julia says, "I have above average healing abilities along with some psychic abilities and a knack for languages." When Simmons tells Alex they were all dragged here, Julia replies, "I'm here because my other plans fell through." Julia grins obviously joking as she waits for the others to mention what they can do.

Ramirez nodded as assignments were handed out," My status is squared, LT, I was re-activated just prior to being dragged to Washington. You know the secret service guys don't like being embarrassed?" He grinned." Been company scrounger before, not a problem. Good to have a real medic with us too," he nodded to Julia, " I can't do much more than quick triage. I'm better at taking them apart than putting back together. I've got some motor pool experience that might come in handy too, if we need it."

Simmons rubs his chin, "maybe dragged was a bad choice of words. I meant re-assigned."
At the mention of his experience, Simmons frowns for a second, not really wanting everyone to know about all his lifetimes, or his age. He says to the LT, "understood. You've obviously read my file, you know what I can do. I'm a soldier for life, use me anyway you see fit. I'm just a tool."

Forbes nearly grinned. It at that moment he realized something, and looked over at Julia. "Guglia..." is the only word to come from his mouth at that time. For one brief second, he almost laughed.
"Ramirez? Has there been any discussion of the Posse Comitatus Act and our role in domestic security?"

"Thanks to Homeland Security, we're exempt." Xander replied. " The DD made it clear we've got full reign, home and abroad. Figure he'll explain it once we touch down at Langley."
He turned to Simmons," I meant when they first pitched the idea when I said dragged to Washington. When two HumVees show up at your door and guys with guns bigger than me say "You have to come with us, sir", that's being dragged. Of course I'd said no to two more polite invitations, so I can't blame them much. Scaring the hell out of the President was pretty cool though. He smirked.

The lieutenant obviously needing training in all things social had moved on to others so Alex assumed that her thing was not as high on the priority list. Which was fine as although she did not like her criminal record, she wore it as a reminder as to what she did. And yes while she did not pull the trigger, was as responsible as the rest were.
She continues to listen as she hears this Ramirez and the Sergant speak, thinking to herself, Really this is odd. We have two people that obviously have the skills to be a leader, and a supposed leader that has not made eye contact. How is it possible he went through officer school unless he has pull behind the scenes. Oh well I am here might as well make the best of it!

"Simmons, we're all soldiers for life. Every operator is a tool of national policy. From the Chief of Staff on down to a new recruit. That does not mean experience isn't the best teacher.
"Even Alexander the Great had Aristotle. While his father Philip was at war, and after his tutelage under Aristotle ended, Alexander put down a revolt of the Thracean Maedi. He drove them from the lands of Macedon, and established the city Alexandropolis on newly conquered lands. I believe, experience has a place. It is not a resource to be squandered." His voice had odd inflections, sometimes the wrong word or syllable was stressed. Some of his words sounded a bit mechanical. In all, he was a bit like Mr. Data from Next Generation.
He pulled out an Eagle Cash card from his wallet and showed it to Alex. Again, his eyes never quite lifted up to hers. "If time permits, we'll use my Eagle Cash card." He managed to stop before pointing out officers make much more than privates.
His almost-gaze returned to Ramirez. "As long as we have legitimate law enforcement agency credentials of some type, FBI or DEA would be best, then we should face no problems. And does anyone else think scaring the hell out of The President just got a whole lot hairier knowing he's got all of us in his tool box?" He didn't laugh or even smile.

Simmons smiles and simply says, "yes sir." He thinks, 'I hope I won't get a lecture every time I say something.'
He asks, "so we will be able to operate domestically, that will be a new one for me. What exactly kind of work will they expect of us? Wet work? Search and rescue? Drug interdiction? Terrorism?"

"I haven't been briefed, but since all those missions are within the operating profiles of existing teams and agencies, I am guessing protecting the nation from and taking down bad guys with comparable abilities as our own. From terrorists to Magneto to the Red Skull."
He caught a glance of Alex reading a copy of Superman. He opened his brief-case and pulled out a stack of comics thicker than the telephone book. "I purchased these as the best source of data available on enhanced human vs. enhanced human combat. I found little sound tactical dogma, but you are better versed in this media than I am. Please review these at your leisure, and if you come to any conclusions, report as you are able."
The stack included everything, DC, Marvel. From Superman to Spiderman, Justice League to Xmen and Avengers. Some were some of the classic issues including golden and silver age masterpieces, not just the latest editions. "I purchased them when I learned there were others like me. Like us. Not everyone like us will be on our side. It's not my brand of literature anyhow." Again his voice was even and monotonous.
"Does anyone else require wardrobe or gear?"

Simmons raises an eyebrow at the stack of comics. In thought he thinks, 'comics as research? That's a new one.'
He says, "I am assuming we will be fitted out depending on the mission. I have clothing and uniforms, but I have no equipment. I sold whatever I didn't turn in after my last pump."
