Issue 15: Fire in the Kitchen (All but Vision)

Two groups of Avengers - Hawkeye, Wolverine, and Daredevil having covered the inner city, and Songbird, X-23, Venom and Aura having searched the outer Burroughs, have found no direct leads on Tabitha's kidnappers. The two groups are currently parked on a rooftop in Daredevil's home district - Hell's Kitchen.

The rooftop is sparse, the only recent addition in decades to the crumbling neighbour hoods it the brightly painted "OSBORN FOR SENATE" sign behind the group. Something about having Osborn's slimey smile beam down on you makes your skin crawl. There's something dishonest about that man, but you can't put your finger on it.

Songbird sighs as she looks down from the ledge. Across the street is a shuttered bookstore, the "K" in the building's signage having rotten and fallen off years ago.

"OK, so all the ordinary leads on the Spot aren't cutting it, so it's time to take drastic measures. " She points to a building across the street. "That, there, believe it or not, is the Bar With No Name. Yeah, that's what they call. It's the hang out for every low rent supervillain on the books and everyone looking to join the club. Take it from a former low-renter." She frowns. "If we want information, we'll have to go inside. I'm open to suggestions."

"I would offer to go in, but I don't think I blend very well into the crowd. But maybe another of us would be less conspicuous of it all." She offers as a suggestion to everyone there.

Flash moves over to the ledge of the building and peers down onto the street below, "Well, none of you can pass as a notorious villain. I can."

Turning to the assembled group of heroes, "Anyone disagree?"

"Go in first, *then* open with the claws, not before," he says to X-23, though hard to tell if he's scolding or teasing.

[Dome]

DD stands up from the crouch position he had been using to look down on the building. Not used to having to debate with others or take a vote before acting he says, "they all will know me. At least enough to run. I'll go in an shake the tree. You guys can pick up whatever falls out, then we'll get our answers," the frustration of the endless searching with nothing to show for etched in his voice.

Not waiting for a response he pulls his billy club and launches the towline across the street. He steps off the roof and uses the momentum of gravity and the hook and towline, to propel himself for the no named club and maneuvers his body so that he lands feet first on one of the shuttered windows.

"Who would have thought a walking connect the dots puzzle would be so hard to find?" Hawkeye added, leaning on his bow lightly. He was about to add something, when his smirk dropped with Daredevil's lack of patience. " Guess we better keep up. X-sy, try not to kill to many of them until we have some answers."

Songbird shakes her head as Daredevil and then X-23 took off. "Oh, this'll get us a lead, I'll bet." He looks over at Hawkeye. "Please don't tell me I was like this when we were in the Thunderbolts."

Daredevil bounds towards the door, as he starts hearing the sound of combat - punching, shouting, and the fire of weapons can be heard. One voice carries above the others, screaming. "WHERE IS HE?" Daredevil can even pick up the scent of blood, ozone, and cordite as he approaches the door. To X-23 and Wolverine, the smell is what they pick up first, then more slowly, the sounds.

As DD and the rest quickly make their way to the bar, Flash sighs and shakes his head, "I thought these guys would be more.. subtle."

Shrugging his shoulders he throws out a webline and leaps off, aiming for the roof of the building.

(O.C.C.: How many floors does the building have?)

Hawkeye smirked. " Mel, that would have been tame for the Thunderbolts. aura, give me a give don't there, would you? We don't want to miss all the fun."

"I would have thought they would have too. I mean I am almost thinking I could of been more stealthy, and I am blue." She says almost jokingly, or at least an attempt to a joke.

"Maybe next time you can lead the charge." Hawkeye suggested with a smirk.

Songbird sighs as she projects her solid sound wings and a chair for Hawkeye to sit in as they glide down to the street 4 blocks below.

Daredevil can hear the sounds of violence, and smell it as well. Wolverine and X-23 are all too familiar with the scent of violence.

There's a loud crashing noise as a man hurtles through the boarded windows. He's a big man with red brown hair and built like a linebacker, with impossibly broad shoulders thick, muscular arms. He's wearing a Green Bay Packers jersey and blue jeans with heavy construction boots. His face is swollen and he's got a few cuts and bruises, but he raises himself off the ground. Hawkeye immediately recognizes the big man - Erik Josten - formerly Goliath, formerly Atlas of the Thunderbolts. Last you heard, Atlas had flushed his body of Pym Particles so he could live a normal life.*

Erik wipes blood from his mouth as he looks into the bar. "Izzat all ya got?"

Three sihlouettes walk out of the bar. "We ain't even getting warmed up, Has-Been." A woman with glowing truncheons snaps back.



The other two figures flanking her are as familiar as they are jarring - The Beetle and Screaming Mimi. Particularly the later, as Screaming Mimi was the former alias of Songbird!
