Ch 4 Trouble at the Library ( Atreyu)

*Well I wonder where they took him and what they wanted with him..* While think of all the possible reasons he wonders if anyone of his old buddies might know whats going on. Eric takes off to some of the places Neal and him used to hang out to ask some questions. He first heads to the Pool hall in his old neighborhood.

The pool hall manager shook his head at Eric's questions. " Sorry kid, I haven't seen him in a few days, maybe even a week now, not since he mentioned about his dad was leaving town. I'm surprised he didn't tell you, considering how chummy you two are. But he did say something about having something to give you. what was it now?" The old proprietor scratched his head ." A disk I think he said. I dunno, I never know what you kids are talking about most of the time." He grinned and moved down the counter to another customer, waiting patiently.

A disk huh? Well thanks anyways James. With that heads over to Neals dorm room at the college. *I hope his roommate is home* Eric will take the bus to get there and walk the rest of the way contemplating what could be on this disk that Neal wanted him to check out. When Eric arives he does the knock he always does.

There is no answer from inside, and the door is slightly ajar. As Eric peeks inside, the room has been tossed. As he looks inside puzzled, Neal's roommate Dan's voice looms overhead from behind. " What the hell have you done, runt?"

"Oh hey Dan I was just seeing is Neal was home. What the hell did you do to the place?" Eric opens the door fully. "Your girlfriend break up with you again? Awe, what a pitty." Eirc says iwth a slight smirk. "But seriously what the hell happened in here? And have you seen Neal anywhere? I've been searching for him all over the place. Apparently he had something to give me. WHats he been working on lately?" Eric bombards Dan with questions hoping he'd give a straight answer rather then clobber him as he usually did.

" No, I haven't seen Neal, and I don't know what he was working on." Dan grumbled, plowing past Eric. He bent down, picking a couple discs from the rubble. " Man, they even dumped out my CDs. when I find out who did this, I'm gonna kick their ass."

He looked up and Eric. " If you're not gonna help , then get lost, runt."

"Oh yeah, sorry I was in the middle of a thought." Eric helps him pick somethings up. "So where do you suggest we start?" Eric asks

" I suggest you start by getting out of my face, twerp." Dan spat at Eric, snatching his things from Eric's hands. " don't you have anything better to do? I'm sure you're seat at the library must be cold by now."

"Hey now calm down. Don't you want to help me find out who did this so we can get them back? (MA 20/60%) I mean seriously if they didn't find what they were looking for dont you think they'll come back looking for you? I say we find them first and try to find Neal." Eric tries to get Dan's heroic urges pumping. Making it sound like and easy adventure and motivating him. "Plus dont you think your girl would love you even more once she finds out you saved her brother from pending danger." (sorry I had to add something:) if I over stepped just says so and continue on)

Dan rolled his eyes up at Eric. " Didn't Neal tell you? Deanna and I did break up again. She's going with Reggie Walters now. Besides, you don't even know where to start looking."

well I already checked the Cue Club and he wasn't there and nobody's seen him in a while. Hey, is his laptop still here? What about his PC. Maybe theres something on those." Eric begins rummaging through things looking for them

" It's over there." Dan pointed as he scooped up some of his belongings and laid them on the bed. The laptop , surprisingly, isn't smashed, but there's nothing of interest on it. Dan gives Eric an odd look. " How'd you find out he's in trouble anyways?"

"Some Ausies came looking for him at the library. They were definately not anyone I've seen before and they were asking if I'd seen him. I tried to follow them, but they lost me." Eric gives Dan a shrug, "James at the pub said Neal had some disk to give me. So I'm guessing he had something on it they wanted. Like from one of those cheese computer nerd movies." Eric begins to bring up past used directories on Neals computer. (comp use 21/68%) He's searching for a pathway to E drive thats been used. (If you know computer lingo you know what I'm trying). Has there been any use of a disk in that drive?

The comp has been used alot, but nothing looks out of place, mostly school work and a few games have been used recently. The last disk that had been in it was a cd he burned off of the latest dance tracks. Dan looked at Eric for a moment. " He never mentioned anything, but it might have something to do with his dad's sudden work trip. I never heard of a pencil pusher having to go away on businessand not knowing when he'd be home. It was just weird." He shook his head then looked at Eric oddly." And if he had something to give you, are you sure he didn't when you weren't looking ? you said you saw him at the library."

"His Dad took off on another business trip huh? Did you hear Neal say where he was going?" Eric thinks for a moment... "Neal did take a look at my book..." Eirc pulls out his favorite new book and checks it out. Anything there?
