CHAPTER 1: A TYPICAL DAY

"...the odds of that happening in this area..." sighs Rex, turning and speaking in Chinese to Yonette. "Looks like another soul who could use some help." Then, grabbing some of the medical supplies, hurries to the crashed automobile.

You see the that a truck is stuck in an alley having lost one of its wheels.

(Avery, Yonette, and Rex)

You move towards the truck to find a large man at the wheel. He appears unharmed just a bit shaken.

(Scarecrow)

You're fine, just a bit shaken up at the moment.

(Dark Rider)

After a few moments, you've got the tractor running and moving again. You manage to get halfway through your chores when your grandpa walks out to the field. "Something on the dang-blasted sqwakbox you got in your bedroom. Best go give it a listen."

[Nightvision]

Grandpa's usually right, so Matt goes off to have a listen.

"Well?" Lex shouted as he made up rolls and put them in a pan. He hated the bakery, but it was such a good cover and he owed it to his sister to help out. "Is the sky falling or what?"

Yonette simply says 'Hai . . ' *gives a slight nod, then follows without another word. this place is bigger than the cities back home, and she wonders why none have lost their minds from the lack of being in touch with nature, even the small plants are content to be growing.

*she slows as some woman comes out of a shop that smells good and mutters 'scuse, peas' to Vivian as she moves along the building and follows some man{Avery} running to the alley and the one{mister cranston} that is following him.

Caleb sighs and gets out of his truck and will try and run the way he was heading through the alleyway to see if he can get a clear line of sight to the car, either to get another fear spell off, or perhaps to see it crash.

If he can't catch it he'll kick a wall and walk to the nearest phone booth to call for a tow.

(Dark Rider)

The news report on the radio of an "armored battle wagon" that tore through the streets just a few minutes ago heading west, injuring police men and causing several accidents.

(Rex, Avery, Yonette, Scarecrow)

Rex, Avery, and Yonette see the big lanky man step out of the car and move out of the alley as though he were chasing the car. All three of you sense something unusual about the man (perception rolls).

Scarecrow, you are out of range, and kick the wall, hurting your foot. You see three stangers approach, and two of them (Yonette and Avery) draw your attention somehow.

(Lex and Vivian)

Lex, after a few minutes you stick your head out the front door to see the three men now harrassing a car crash victim.

Yonette slows down as she sees the man exit the crashed truck and seems alright except for hte damaged foot. at the man's gaze, she lowers the look and backs up 3 paces and waits quietly for Rex Cranston to finish whatever and will follow once more the servant.

she is not really liking hte attention focused on her once again and tries to pretend she's a part of hte building[rand=5328229536877189599783900295420268392475951580428414723447092565]

"Battlewagon?"

Matt takes a map of the city, looks up the location of the accident and checks where the "battle wagon" is going. Then he heads out.

"Sorry, grandpa," he tells Caleb in passing. "I wish I could stay and help, but I gotta Ride."

He heads into his Secret Lair under the ranchhouse where he changes into his Dark Rider outfit. Then he runs to his hidden Indian Scout. As he starts the engine, he wonders idly if Grandpa remembered to refuel the bike.

Vivian tells Lex, "One of the wheels fell off that truck."

Avery scans the mans surface thoughts.

"Ouch, Ouch, Ouch" says Caleb thinking to himsef, that he needs to watch his temper as kicking the wall was counter productive.


Wondering what it was that got his attention about the others approaching, but unable to figure it out he'll nod to them and head to the nearest phone booth to call for a tow since that's his immediate concern, unless something happens to stop him. He should be able to walk the pain out of his foot, kicking a wall out of frustration probably shouldn't have done any serious damage.

Rex, you can sense a touch of the supernatural around the man - something you are all too familiar with.

Avery, you can tell he's angry about letting that criminal car get away and something about "being out of range".

Yonette, you sense something strange about the man and his energy flow. It's unusually powerful.

Scarecrow, roll perception.

(Dark Rider)

Thankfully, the bike's tank is full as you race out. You manage to ride out to the Western outskirts of town, to a familiar dirt crossroads.

(Lex and Vivian)

Vivian sees the large lanky man who had driven the now demolished truck. Surprisingly, she recognizes the man by his mannerisms alone: Caleb L'angelle, the "Wheat and Corn Royal of Center City". Her mother had tried to set them up, but Vivian has always found him to be too moody and coarse for her tastes. The three other strangers surrounding him looked odd - one was a finely dressed gentleman (Rex), another was a rough looking man with a beaten up fedora and trenchcoat (Avery) and the last one was an oriental women (Yonette).

Inside the shop, Lex starts opening the mail. One of them is an unmarked envelope that is far too familiar - a package from the Ukrainian mob asking for armoring duties.
