the two speakers continued to talk, and it was clear what they were when a few rodent like squeals were part of the conversation. They were clearing rats coming down the path.

Tori shot some subtle signals. Two fingers up, then two fingers down, walking like an old yellow-pages ad. Two footmobile tangos, approaching.
Little kitty turned to Janxi. She flashed more signals. Another walk, the number 2 and a finger across her throat. She would kill the second target with blades.
The second series of gestures went to Janxi. She indicated the point rat, and that Jan should cut his throat as he passed her.
The little cat's vibro-claws extended silently, and she continued to wait to kill her first lot of rats the oldest way a cat knew how. To the rest of the team, she held one finger vertically to her lip to call for quiet, then she gestured for cover if more came up the way. Rats were about to die.

Sam pauses at Tori's warning and only acknowledges it with a click. Moving quietly to where there is cover, Sam waits and watches to see what the rats are doing and where they are going, letting the cats do their thing.

Janxi nodded to Tori. The massive claw from her FWS extended to rend limbs from rodents unlucky enough to cross paths with a kill cat. She could take the rats down quietly, and maybe move in to help the burning hooches.

Martin slowed his breathing to a meditatively low level, as he realized he heard only two rats, and the cats hadn't acted yet. By the sounds of the clicks, a plan was in place, but they hadn't acted, yet.
As he listed to the rustle of leaves, and the voices, he wondered if maybe there were more. So, he looked around, to see if there were.

as the team hid in ambush, two mutant rats, wearing homemade leather armor came around the bend in the path, each carrying some sort of energy rifle that looked similar to Triax design. They were alone, and both Tori and Martin noticed with [high perc rolls] that each wore a necklace of trophies. Some of the human ears on the chains stil had blood dripping from them.

The ear necklaces pissed off Tori to no end. She wanted to hurt the rats. Terrorize them. Play cat-and-mouse with them. She was also a professional, and knew a quick kill would be best for all concerned.
She waited for the closest t come her way, waiting patiently. She loved ambushes, and two dumb rats made easy targets. When in range, she struck.
Tori pounced on "her rat," with wolverine claws out and seeing the rat's head or face, neck or a chink in its armor. She figured the leather was dino hide, but the claws could find a vulnerable point for a quick kill.

Nobody appreciated a hunt with an ambush, or could pull one off quite like a cat. She moved in time with Tori, with the same plan, find the rat's head, face or neck, or a soft underbelly and shred. Her massive claw flew out with the speed of a railgun bolt. Strike: Called shot to head/face neck or gap in armor [dice=20+8] Damage [dice=6][dice=6][dice=6+20]

Nike hangs back a little, covering the rats, and the cats, from the brush with her rifle; although she's never worked with the cats before, she'd taken in and assessed their apparent professionalism and figured they had a plan; as they move from their ambush to attack the rats, Nike makes a point of surveying the nearby area, to make sure there were no flankers or additional rats moving up behind the first pair.
If there are not, she'll wait for an opening then take a potshot at the Rat that Tori is attacking!

while Tori struck with finesse and her rat never had chance to struggle, Janxi's tried to escape the jaglion's power [dice=20] and was nearly decapitated for it's trouble. {note: MDC blades on SDC necks are not a good combination...)
Despite her preparedness, Nike could detect no other rats approaching.[rand=8613930619224119508498700784259484549314675714388025093841154596]

Tori doublechecked if her target was indeed dead, confiscated his weapons and e-clips to keep for herself or give to Tim's people. Lastly, she searched the body for usable intelligence including maps, orders, explosives and other usable items. She considered booby trapping the body with a grenade, but decided against. Rats probably had little regard for their dead and a booby trap would only succeed in killing a scavenger. Better save ordinance for the pitched battle ahead. She cleaned her vibro-blades and slipped them back into her vembraces. Then she shot Janxi a knowing look before moving back to the trail toward the burning homes, moving in on point.
The little cat expected plenty more rats to arrive on the scene or be laying in ambush for a rescue party. The necklaces dashed any hope of this being a rescue and evacuation mission. Now it was recover and revenge. She said nothing at all. This was her hunt to lead. Many more rats would die.

Oh and an intel roll to identify weapons, ammo, explosives, boots and all other intel materials recovered (yes, including brand and nationality of their smokes. I saw Die Hard, too!)

(OOC: It seemed to have the desired effect. One stab one kill! Overkill is the Marine way!)
Janxi grinned under her helmet when Tori looked back. She raised her index finger on her right paw, lowered it and raised four more. Shagcat Team 14 strikes again.
She knelt beside her target and whispered just loud enough for the dead rat, and maybe a few of the closest team members to hear, "There can be only one."
Then, a noise drowned out her whisper. It was her rumbling stomach thinking about ingesting the rat she just killed. She was afterall, still a cat. Sneaking around with chow was difficult, and would probably make the humans of the team sick. Regretfully, she left her meal behind.
Following Tori's example, she salvaged the rat's rifle, explosives, ammo and other weapons, if any. In a shortage situation, some more of Capt'n Tim's people or some of the Marlins could use extra firepower. She also searched for maps and other usable information to give to Sam or Tori.
Janxi contemplated marking each body with a death card. She pulled a pack of wrapped playing cards from her LBG and examined them. The back of each card had the CS-SOG spearpoint logo. She quickly put them away. The longer the rats didn't know a strike team was operating to kill them, the less nervous they would be. The two bodies could have been mauled by dinosaurs, for all a stupid rat could tell.
She followed Tori, studying the ground for signs of trails indicating how many rats assaulted the hooch. She looked for any trails of non-rodent survivors or attackers, and studied the types of weapons used. This time, she expected bodies, and maybe, some more rats stupid enough to ambush the team.

Martin watched the cats grimly, as they dispatched and indignities the bodies. They were certainly products of the CS. However, there was nothing he could do about that now, except to move hastily to the fishing villages.
As the cats started moving, Martin continued with them, directing them on the fastest, safest paths to the villages.

Nike indicates 'all clear' to the others via hand-signals, having been keeping an eye out for flankers or whatnot. AS the team starts on the move again, she pauses at one of the rat corpses; seeing the necklace of ears, she growls softly before emptying a burst of laser-fire into the corpses, her anger growing rapidly.
