"You are notta usuring shoto?" Shingu seemed to be talking to Rika. He used the gai-jin language as best he could so he did not seem rude and keep them out of his conversations with Reika.
The dogfight the first he witnessed without a jet, jet pack, SAM, helicopter, flying animal or wings of some sort. Even Japanese mages, it seemed at least in his experience, did not often fly. Japan had peryton, and they loved easy flying targets mages made. The flying man struck him as a dangerous adversary, and hoped his new colleagues had enough ability, training and firepower to prevail.

Reika looked at Shingu. A wakizashi was not a bad thing to have, but her fencing was not as good as his, and she needed a free hand for a good reason. To illustrate, she said nothing and reached over to touch one of her tattoos with her free hand without activating it.
"You know, a heatseeking missile would be a particularly dirty trick right now. But if you had one handy, I'll bet you would have used it," she said to Fegh.

Krystal also starts using more and more speed in this aerial battle she is going through. She continues to blast him hoping to lull him into her next idea. And after a final blast she dives.

"I think thisisa what got us into prisonu, we arrived witha weapons." He smiled watching the battle, approving of Krystal's efforts to draw the burning man back down to the ground. Between two martial artists-magicians, a giant like Balus and Fegh's psi-swords, or whatever they were, burning man would be in a bad way, in a hurry.

As Krystal throws up her field, the being accelerates, crashing through it and creating a small sonic boom as he lands on the ground. He peers around.
"Burnyr waits. Bring your forces. TEST ME!" He bellows.
The Captain looks at the creature. "You heard the man - let's show him what we've got."

Shingu narrowed his eyes. At last, his enemy fell to earth. He readied his daito, and lowered himself for a charge. He carried the huge sword over his head like a wood-chopper's axe, then rushed.
From the moment he began his charge, leaping from his static position he toughened his skin. And, above it all, he released a kiaia, that channeled his rage against the flame man that brought him here. "Dieeeeeeeeeeeee! Mureyyaaahhhh!"

Fegh sighs watching their new ally not only charge in but yell announcing his attack first. He says to his fire team, "anyone that can hit him from here, do it, everyone else as soon as their volley hits, we move out. Ignore the foot soldiers unless they get in the way, we must take down that being first."

"Well, at least he's on our side," Reika said, and followed behind Fegh, her Katana ready. She tapped the tattoo on her right shoulder, and began to glow with a flaming aura. If flame was her enemy's weapon, she could overcome it with no trouble. To hobble him, she tossed a throwing star at his knee.

Burnyr simply stands as Reika's star melts passing through him, and Shingu's blade is badly singed by the heat. Balus' hand simply passes right through, his uniform disintegrated up to his shoulder and on fire. Krystal's blast hits, as do the blasts of the fire team, but they seem to only annoy him.
He looks at Balus. "Hmmm...a challenge. I accept."

Watching a shuriken melt was not good. Reika looked at her sword and returned it to her scabbard. Steel would not do a thing to this new brand of demon. Magic, however, often made a lethal equalizer against the non-corporeal. Ghosts, vapors, even astral travelers respected and feared magecraft.
She touched her wrists, creating a wakizashi in her right hand, and another katana in her left. They matched sporting a blood-crimson tsuka-ito. Weapons in hand, she advanced on Burnyr performing a kata designed to scare him into wetting himself. That had to hurt a flamethrower!
