OK, I am a big kung fu movie fan, and Liz and I were talking characters for a game that fell through. My character would a member of a vigilante clan that keeps peace in a chinese town. Many martial artists are in his clan, but he trained as a demon slayer. I'd sub a chinese martial art for the japanese.
This character is based on a combination of Lo Meng's character Toad from Five Deadly Venoms and Sing Chieng's Iron Monkey from the Flag of Iron.
I would like to create a special martial arts form to be used in rare situations. It relates to the Flag of Iron film.
He would use a number of simple chinese weapons, maybe one laser rifle, as a curiousity. As a demon-queller, the weapons would be SDC, but of a certain metals or wood for demons and baddies. Maybe one very unique, but munchkinesque in the slightest magic weapon.
Liz would play an Atlantean undead slayer sent by her chaing ku master to find my character's leader. Mexican vampires used martial arts to defeat members of her clan. They try to end up in North America, but end up elsewhere, if needed.
She has tattoos, and a limited amount of equipment. The tattoos are with an emphasis on anti vamp and monster killing types. She is interested in improving her martial arts. Trained by a chaing ku, she also has a read on chinese culture, as her Atlantean clan was the first to encounter ancient china and the chaing ku. She is from a colony that remained in China. She is also familiar with Atlantean and North American cultures.
They bring anti-monster, demon and vampire expertise, and physical ability. They have some magic ability and lore, as fighter mage types. Both will be of good alignment.
More than that, we'll select skills to round out a party, and add some fun. Things like adding a master wok chef, a dancer, some comic relief, add first aid if needed. Bring in multiple languages to help the party, or give a medium to change settings if the GM desires. They can be serious in battle, but add a kung fu element of fun. They can be reverent and mystical, in philosophy and training.
The characters will have the feel of action movie characters, cheerful freespirits, but deadly adversaries and Hong Kong action heroes.
IF you think these characters would be fun and a good fit for your game, let us know. We're looking to have some fun with these characters and try something completely different. I hope you can use us and our characters!
