Akane also out of the plane allows the shorter Psychic to lead the way but also does accept the machettes and hopes that they are strong enough that they will not break.

Khris stopped and closed his eyes as he felt the meta. " We're close. Everyone be on your guard though, I'm feeling one heck of a presence."

After a while of Tiger hacking through the undergrowth, with the tester in a bag on her back, the team reaches the clearing with the jeep.

The old man nods to them. Tiger calls out, "Where is Lightning?"

The boy stands up from among the tall grasses. "Right here."

Tiger walks over, "I'm with the United Nations. I'd like to test your abilities."

The kid snaps his fingers and makes a spark of electricity, "You mean the voltage?"

"Not quite. I'd like to start with a test of your intelligence. If you count the tail as a leg, how many legs does a dog have?"

Lightning looks at her a moment, "Five, I guess."

Tiger continues, "You are right next to a river and have a 5 gallon container and a 3 gallon container. You need to measure out 4 gallons of water. How do you do it? "

This time the boy scratches his head, "Fill the five gallon and pour a little out, should be fine."

Impassive, Tiger asks one more question: "How do you measure the size of the Earth?"

"I dunno. Isn't about twenty-five thousand miles."

"Hmm." Tiger says. She takes a handful of coins out of her pocket, tosses them into the air and says, "Catch."

Lightning snatches nearly all of them out of the air. Tiger nods, and unstraps her pack. "Thanks. I'm not sure if you've really got what we are looking for, but I'll let you try." She positions the tester in front of him.

"Grab hold of this and concentrate on making it light up. You can use your power if it helps you visualize, but it isn't electrical."

Lightning grabs hold, but though he arcs with electricity, the tester barely glows, far dimmer than with Tiger.

"Alright. Thank you for your time." Tiger says, "Lets get back the the plane."

"Whats this about anyway?" Lightning asks.

"You'll hear all about, I promise," Tiger calls over her shoulder.

Making her way back towards the plane, she mutters something under her breath about Omega Shield's intel capabilities.

"Next stop, Japan." She says.

Akane decides after watching the exchange that silence is the better part of wisdom at this point and just follows back to the plane without another word.

Jeckle finally speaks up as they approach the plane. her one comment says it all for her.

'well that was a waste of my time. i'll get back to work then'

*once they reach the plane she'll simply head to where she was working and gets back to work again

Dante can't help but smirk as they approach the plan and allows his sword to fade away, "I have to agree with her boss. We all go marching through the jungle for that? Its a bit of waste isn't it boss?"

*a small snort from Jeckle as she settles into work. 'who knows .. maybe he was faking it? just glad i don't have to try and get this thing to light up ... next time, you guys go find the person without me'

*she hums as she works. the tune is horribly butchered, but it is a way for her to focus on the task at hand and not the others.

" I don't get it." Khris said. " He felt powerful enough."

"What does that thing measure Tiger?"

*jeckle remains locked into her own world with her tools. the frames for the other testers are half assembled and she continues to work on the delicate things, pausing from time to time to tap on the keyboard in front of her in communication with someone else on the main taskforce

Tiger blinks at Dante, "It roughly correlates to the ability to use the shield device... the full sized shield was theorized several years ago, but many of the key design features were yet to be realized. When robot drones began monitoring the demons, an international group of scientists decided to overcome those key design barriers. The demons seem to have a shield which is much like the invention. That is why they are immune to all attacks."

"Still, the entire full sized version only came together a couple weeks ago. I started on the toy sized tester as soon as they released the plans. While I worked, the other scientists tried lots of different people and determined that intelligence, agility and youth correlated with better interaction with the machine. Practice helps, but there is also some kind of capacity limitations. That means that while me or Akane could practice and improve our ability, so could someone younger, and the younger person's limit would be much higher. So someone with better traits starts out better and can achieve more."

"Lightning had good agility, and he was young, but his intelligence was average at best. We need to find someone who has all three. Unfortunately, metas don't advertise and they certainly don't detail their own faults... no one is really going to admit that they are dumb. And plenty of them allow others to exaggerate descriptions of their abilities. Or rumors might just be wrong."

"Anyway, while he wasn't someone we wanted I actually think we won't encounter this particular problem very often. Its much more likely that we will face competition for the top talent from other organizations or that some metas might hold out for better pay or something like that. This one caught me by surprise, but thats what happens when your intel director is in one country and his assistants are in another."

" Fitting." Khris sputtered. " The first cadidate we locate is a bloody retard. Should have lugged him back, he'd be Omega management in no time."

Akane perks for a second at the mentioning of her name, but realizes it is just some side talk that has nothing really to do with her. She does however finally crack a smile at the comment Khris made.

*she stops humming and looks up at the others briefly before returning to her work. 'i reallly should see what they have on me. shame to work under false pretenses or something ... '

*that said, she returns to humming quietly to herself and working on another section. a pause from time to time to read the screen and type a response then working again

Dante walks through the jungle silently as they make their way back to the plane. When they get there he heads straight for Strongbow. "How were things here while we were off in the jungle," he asks when he finds her. (assuming she stayed with the plane)
