Character Name: SO-3 Tori RIAF-X03
Alias: Otter, T-Bone
Race: Mutant Fishing Cat
O.C.C.: CS Navy Seal
Occupation: Combat swimmer
Alignment: Abarrent
XP Level: 4
XP Points: 8,601
Next Level @ XP: 8,601
Sentiments/Non-Humans: Dislikes mutant dogs as obnoxious and smelly psynchophants, dislikes psi-stalkers as rival hunters. Hates demons and monsters. Is fickle about other humans, and d-bees, selecting her friends carefully, and being loyal no matter what race.
Sentiments/Coalition: Fiercely loyal and ready to kill. She believes in her nation, but may be aloof to officers or civilians
Disposition: Quiet and reserved around superiors. She appears uncomfortable around strangers. Among friends and those she trusts, Tori is a big flirt, and loves to play, especially in the water.
Update: Experiences with dogs and humans willing to sacrifice have made her more accepting of some dogs. She has grown largely more pro-female given the performance of her CO, the sacrifices of Redfang and Coyote, and the perceived cowardice of some others in the team. She is absolutely Sam's cat and would give her life for her human.

Background:
Desmond Bradford and his staff at Lone Star were satisfied with both the battle cat and the sea dog programs, but Bradford sought a middle ground. Sea dogs and psi hounds were hard working, while the few aquatic cats were large, even if somewhat stealthy. The good doctor sought a solution for an aquatic feline, that was compact, aggressive, adroit, stealthy and at home in the water. It was a bridge between the heavy combat tigers and jaguars, and the good natured and easygoing Newfoundland seadogs.
His solution came from a reference to a “fishing cat.” While it looked like a very large tabby, it swam like an otter and had the stealthiness and reflexes to pluck live fish from the water. It was built with a robust frame, but wasn’t musclebound. Nor was it fast, at least outside the water.
Bradford studied the Lone Star archives, and found that the fishing cat was housed at both the San Antonio Zoo, and the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. Bradford deployed SEALs to seek cats fishing along the banks of the San Antonio, Nueces and Rio Grande rivers.
Several teams and boat crews returned domestic cats batting at minnows or their own reflections. A cat was a cat…
Until, just before the Juicer Uprisings, SEAL Team 2 personnel in San Antonio spotted a cat off the starboard side, fishing in the ruins of the old San Antonio River Walk. Rather than try to stealth the cat and toss it in a bag, one of the operators drew a dart gun and tranqued it.
The cat woke up in a fairly spacious run in the Lone Star complex. Though a bit elderly, she was treated well by Bradford. She was given fish to swim after. Satisfied, Bradford drew stem cells and began hooking and splicing genes.
In the end, he decided to grow six kittens in two groups, with a slight genetic differential. He found the cats to be as quick as panthers, as they sought fish with a bare paw. They were slightly scrappier than bobcats, but not quite as fast at foot. Bradford elected to make the six kittens all female. Females were less prone to dominance, and more submissive. Yet most female cats were the hunters of their clans.
The first series was called the LY series. Dilly, Milly and Tilly. The second series was Dori, Mori and Tori. Tori’s exact IC code was Tori RIAFX03. Ri series Aquatic Feline Experimental 03.
As clones, the kittens had no mother to raise them. It was found that maternal rearing worked best for mutant felines. Instead, a group of fairly submissive battle cats, Newfoundland dog girls and female human commandos were summoned as nursemaids and bottle feeders for the girls. As expected, they bonded quickly with female battle cats, emulating them and making it a point to watch them hunt.
Hunting and play was more like wrestling kittens. Several geneticists complained that Bradford was being indulgent, and the kittens needed more structured play. He said the feline surrogates would provide, and they did. They presented themselves as more aggressive players, using the kittens for mock targets. The six were given toy rifles, that stripped, cleaned, reassembled and reloaded like real CS weapons.
The training the kittens got resembled one-on-one infantry training. After two years, each was as well trained as a CS grunt, and as strong or stronger. The could swim as well as their Newfoundland nannies, and were 100 times as more stealthy. The minimum standard was for the cats to be as proficient as sea dogs in the water.
The LY series, was considered suspect. Tilly deserted at first chance. Dilly was content at minimal standards. Only Milly sought advanced training and was accepted to the CS Naval infantry. She is now in Recon school, with a para qualification, and working on her underwater combat swimmer training.
The RI series was led by Tori. She excelled in basic underwater demolition school (BUDS) training, and her sister Mori is also in marine recon, with full underwater and airborne qualification. Dori was also in naval special warfare school, in a class ahead of tori, but killed in a training accident.
Tori graduated from the SEAL program at the top of her class. She was a better swimmer than humans, and as crafty as a sea dog. Her predatory characteristics also set her apart. A gifted prowler, she exceeded expectation. Though persecuted by her human colleagues, she was blessed as a cat, to retreat into her own world, befriend those worthy, and ignore all others.
In training, she was denied SAMAS training, and was focused on using her hearing, swimming skills and reflexes. Coalition Green Berets were summoned to school her in commando martial arts. Again, she excelled.
Having just earned her Trident, Tori is loyal to the CS. She believes in killing monsters. She has been in several theological discussions, and wonders if man did not create her in his image. She is a fierce feline, and will protect those who protect her. She will turn her back on those that have abused her, at the same time.
Her natural abilities make her a skilled point man. She is quick, stealthy, and hyper aggressive.
When off duty, she is most at home in the water. She uses human fishing equipment to fish, or her bow, or stretches out beside a pond and fishes as her ancestor did, with a bare paw, depending on her mood. When she plays, it is as a Lone Star redneck. With country music on, with a pinch of ‘nip, and on a lake or the sea, in a jet ski, on a canoe or swimming about.
Tori is considered the most successful of a very small test group. Bradford possesses DNA to create more RI’s and to create males, if he sees fit. For now, Tori is still proving the concept, and is under scrutiny.
Deep secret: Tori prefers swimming with little to nothing on, usually just a pair of UDT shorts. She was reprimanded a few times at Lone Star training for swimming in a PT pool topless and nearly inciting a riot.
