Well, I would simply counter that as things have gone well, Socrates has never once put his hand out or said, "I was wrong."
That's really all it would take, skeptical or not. They don't expect him to laugh at jokes, but at the same time, they don't need the same old condescending attitude at every turn. Tori would curse her own mother, if she had one.
I put out my hand this time in sincerity. I have asked you to RP this out in character, and even went so far to say that Tori would run out in a firefight to drag Socrates to safety, tipping my hand for an important point of character development I was saving.
Marines and sailors are some of the rudest, crudest people around. It even says as much in the CS Navy sourcebook, so this is in no way a real world extrapolation to RP. Still, I've made the offer. All I am asking is for you to meet halfway in character. Absolutely no peace offering has been made IC. This is my only point right now.
I guess I mean, with all that has happened, IC... You can't expect the Shagcats to like Socrates automatically. IF you won't make an effort, IC... I'll not have Tori taunt him anymore, but I would not expect her to share any more MRE shakes. (That was, in fact, a peace offering, in a proud Special Warfare way).

Socrates has to apologize for exposing a co-worker's drug addiction to his boss? How does that become right?

As I have said before, Dakota and I agreed that catnip was basically a harmless habit with no detrimental effect on the cats' performance. It was there to mimic the use of dipping tobacco seen in "Generation Kill." Something to give them some personality. With human genes, it has no more affect on the cats than tobacco products. It's been ruled upon.
Now I do not expect Socrates to know that up front, but we all saw Shep's rather limited reaction. He banned it in the field only. I think an intelligent character like Socrates would suss that it is not meth, coke or even a big fat doobie in terms of performance detriment, addictive quality or character reliability. It was proscribed with other vices like chew and bubblegum. In the cat's own time, it's "Nip on." That is straight from Shep, and was a clear indicator that Socrates overreacted. I haven't asked about bone chewing.
Basically, the cats see that as akin to being the hall monitor and narking on them for sneaking a smoke between classes. That in itself made no friends, but his constant intervention in their conversations is grating to our characters.
As I said before, I'm going to go forward with a more positive no matter what you elect to do, or how skeptical you are. While reprimanding me OOC, you've not made much of an effort IC to co-exist either. You feel strongly enough to take an IC beef into the realm of OOC. I'm really sorry I am that offensive, and I am sincere in that. I wish though, that since we are having this discussion, you would agree to make an equal effort to try to co-exist in-character. I'm not making a demand, or accusing you of ruining the game. I am asking you to see your character from our points of view, and understand why the cats might be hostile at this time.

Allright all of you. cut it out now, stop the GD finger pointing and whining who did what, you sound like my 6 yr old! I'll continue the game on the premise things will get better. I even came up with the sub idea to force the pc's into close quarters so they HAD to interact and maybe become a cohesive unit and not the dysfuntional bunch that makes the SIMPSONS look like a model family

Oh! Now, being thekind of guy I am... What are the odds, relative to the Splugorth that this encounter is: Horune, A Reacher, A giant psychic whale, an Amazon Black Pirate, umm, hmm... The thing that keeps Fox news afloat (You know, because only some kind of bloated magical raft would do the trick...), eh? Also, yes, knowing Daks, I've just doomed us all, since now it's going to be a Horune-piloted Black Pirate ship that's fleeing from a Reacher that is trying to get a quote for FOX News. Sorry guys.

Daks, which vessel stopped: the Horune or the Sub? Just to clear it up.
Thanks

Yeah, I started out thinking our sub stopped, then thought you meant the Horune. I've been second guessing all day, and wrote a contingency in my post. If it's the sub, we're probably screwed, because the helmsman is possessed, or there is something even worse up ahead of the boat!

Hey, a question? Are we using the old book for combat charts or the new? I may have to revise. Anyhow, have a good weekend Dakota and see ya when you get back.

Should we roll all our detects and ongoing skills like prowl each turn, or stand on the first rolls? Or roll each turn, or just wait until Dakota calls for a roll?
