I've never played rifts, but I'm interested. Any character suggestions for a rifts newbie?

Well, this is a Coalition States game, with the PCs belonging to that country's army. I would recommend a CS　ＯＣＣ from either the Rifts Main Book, Lone Star or Coalition War campaign. Since the CS is a human supremacist nation not unlike the Empre of Humanity, basic humans are what's found in 90% of the army. Dakota would have a better idea, though, for what he'ld need.

I don't know much about the team and haven't played with anyone yet. I don't know if there is an NPC component, but it looks to me our top priority would be a cormsman/medic and maybe a ranger with supernatural recognition skills. We seem pretty solid on heavy weapons, EOD and just out and out dirty deeds.

Mierin is the one to ask, but this is just my observation.

Some mecha skills might be good too. A Terror Trooper or SAMAS, maybe a Borg.

Socrates does have plenty of the supernatural skillz, Y'all.

I think militarily, which means everything is redundant. Cats are poor sniffers, and track by sight or hearing more than anything. They might be able to detect a baddie by instinct. They would not have any clue if it had special weaknesses. If Socrates got zipped, we would be missing vital skills. A ranger could help both Socrates and Janxi track, help Tori on point, and add a third sniper to the party, plus provide vamp, d-bee and monster lore, with a few language skills.

No slight to Autumn, but yes, she is a full doctor, and pretty much the "Cleric" of our party. We're going to form up to protect her above all. What if someone in the front of the party fell? She has the strength and speed to run out and get us, but would make for an inviting target. I think a corpsman would be more or less her paramedic, to race out, grab the wounded member and move him or her to safety, stabilize him then bring him to autumn for a fix-up. He could even be a SPECOP OCC with the paramedic skill. Just a second thought for a character.

Third, none of us are mecha pilots. There's no doubt the firepower of a SAMAS, Terror Trooper or GB killer would be great. On the other hand, mecha seems to draw a lot of fire, and makes sneaking around tough. If I made a recommendation, it would be for a small PA unit like those. IF you were SpecForce, Milspec or Commando, you could always jump out and fight and sneak around, while having a one-man tank division to jump back into.

These are just my thoughts. It's Mierin's show. Whatever she needs, give it some good thought.
