Has anyone read the Rifts novels yet??? I'm in the process of reading the first one right now. Its all about the CS and stuff. I know all of you know how to read and don't mind doing so So you guys should check them out. They're all by this guy Adam Chilson. The first one is "SONIC BOOM", second "DECEPTION'S WEB", and the third is "TREACHEROUS AWAKENINGS" Just more food for thought. I'll tell you how they are when I'm done with them

well I have about 20 or 30 pages left. So far its ok. How its written you can tell there are other books. Its not a stand alone... Well the are some major editting problems. it looks like someone just wrote a rough draft and published it. But the story is ok... I'm in the middle of a major battle right now. The last battle of the book I believe. Well heres the run-down It start in the ruins of old chicago. The is this merc army the to coalition begin to fight then and the have a Glitter Boy. Lets just say the coalition get their butts kicked. So for some reason the coalition wants this squad to go after them. And well they have to go in enemy territory and well they kind of befriend a techo-wizzy and a cyber-knight.. as well as some huge D-bee that I haven't figured out what he is... I'm bussing a giant of some sort.. he is 12 foot tall and all. He can turn invisible... they also say the powers differ from the different people in his race... So yeah a little off subject. but they join up about 3/4ths of the way through the book. The Merc army takes control of some town by doing some really smart junk! The leader is from pre- Rifts asia and he knows Dim Mak! Hes 2nd in command is a Mind Melter and he kicks some totally but. He uses astral project and mind bond and mind wipe and... wow yeah hes awesome! the have a 9foot full conversion borg also.. the GB.. and some other stuff. The have some awesome tactics. The torture this burster and get her to not use her powers! Its pretty graphic.. and what you can do with a psychic accomplice is crazy! Well yeah its an ok read... It help you get a grasp of what the coalition are like when they are away from their stations... All in all I give it a 3 of 5 I've read better books and the bad editting makes it harder to read but I liked it because its Rifts. I'm starting on the next one prolly on monday.. adn I will finish it faster then this one I promise.. sorry for the long wait

Ok I've slacked with the reading and the posting of this. Well the second novel is far better written then the first. So far its pretty good. There are is a whole lot of jumping around between "scenes" which can get a little confusing as to what is going on. Anyways so far in the book... Oh by the way this maybe a spoiler... well it is a spoiler Ok so one of the characters finds out his girl friend is a burster and he freaks out.. kind of a big part in the book you learn earlier that she is, but he (Darren a Coalition SAM Pilot) doesn't find out till near the end. Darren as well as most CS think of Psionics as a mutation and that they aren't people but D-Bees (I thought they were excepted..). Mind you this is early in the Rifts world time line. Before the CS used Juicers and before the Psi-Bat. I'm guessing. Ok back to whats going on. Well one of the Lt. in charage of the main mission game a retreat order when they were winning the battle. Or did he give the retreat order??? Thats the main thing thats going on in the story. There is a spy in the unit. They're trying to blackmail one of the Lt.s. They as in the Coalition Espionage Division, which he is a part of. They other people in the unit are try to find out the truth by decyphering a transmition one of the characters intercepted but couldn't decode it. Anyways, this book is far better then the first and I'm hoping the 3rd is even better. The only crappy part of reading this series is reading, or shall I say trying to read, through the first Novel. but thats my two cents. If anyone wants a better description since this one is a bit jumbled up just post on here and I'll check ASAP. Jon

I own the novels; in some ways, it's a great fleshing out of the nuts and bolts of the ground level view of day-to-day stuff in the CS. On the other hand, poor editing in the first book.

I've read all three and yes, the editing SUCKS, but the overall arc is awesome. I think Zenjori Suka is an awesome villain and I liked seeing the CS characters evolve.
