Tiger thinks for a moment, "I will tell my father's messenger about the cave of the rings. Other creatures could be a threat. He may seal it. But even if he doesn't, some of the Chinese soldiers know what the cave does. I doubt they will try to use it. I expect they will also be guarding the cave against further intrusions."
"I know relying on others isn't foolproof, but none of us could make an effective seal and we aren't going to be able to monitor the island if the Chinese rebuild the base."
"If others do find rings, they may never realize how to advance the creatures or that we were even there. If they do try to advance their creatures, it seems much more likely that they'd lurk on the island waiting for unwary victims rather than trying to hunt us down. And once they realize the nature of the connections - that both we and the creature are connected to someone important - the next group may be reluctant to risk defeat."

Tiger nods, "The rings are too risky to use casually."
"I doubt my father would destroy the island with people on it. Too flashy - draws too much attention. His time travelling foes could find out about it and go back to a time before it was destroyed."
"More likely he'll do something more subtle, like have a charity buy off a Chinese officer to save some fictional endangered species... it is a small island. If the Chinese army leaves, it isn't likely to be repopulated. The army won't give up its claim to the terrority, but it is an expensive spot to have a base."

'do you really think that putting rings away someplace will protect them? besides, out of all of us, i really don't think there is anyplace that .. 'he' doesn't already know about, let alone get to'
*Jeckle looks up at them 'seriously .. think about the dinner 'he' hosted. everyone must have been offered them something important to them. except for me. i don't have anything, thus was below his radar. now? i suspect he's done his homework. but that's my input .. anyone want a recap of that meal .. it might be fun to hit replay and see how much was remembered ... '

*she puts her glasses on again and seems to fall asleep leaning against the wall. she comments, 'so they grow from killing another .. the shock harms the partner. mine flies and poops. really scary. think i'm gonna sleep on the way home

Tiger looks over at Kris. "My father's minions shared all kinds of temptations. Nan offered you guns remember? And they tried to give Jeckle a necklace. I'm sure other things were offered all through the evening. Its best not to dwell on promises made by time travelling theives. Even wishes that come true can be a disaster if the means are evil."
"They were trying to find out if they could get us to give up on our mission. And also to mess with our heads of course."

Jeckle stirs briefly in her sleep. unlike other people, she can drop off at the drop of a hat, but waking up and being coherent is entirely a different matter. her body is used to the long odd hours between resting and as a result she sleeps heavily really quickly.
for her, this ability is a blessing. her slight fear of flying stems from a childhood memory and she doesn't want to recall it just now. so .. sleep is a blessing for her this time.
