Kiadan huffs at spike tails ignorant statement. "Spoken like a typical flat scan," she says eyeing him up and down. "What a simplistic world you live in, don't you get tired of understanding why the bio-nuclear fusion works in the stars around us? Or why the gravity exerts more gravity in proportion to other masses in the galaxy around us?"

Von extends her hand to Balus. "A pleasure. And agreed about the Kesmin." She gives a slight smile.
"Sorry, don't have the head for that, Doc. You stick with it, and I'll stick with keeping the streets clean." Spike-Tail turns to see who is talking about Kiadan. "Well, if it ain't our new Ambassador. Big Daddy D told me he was going to get a big name. I'd figured on Victor, but not too bad. Captain Rire Leenik, Rylor Police Sector 44." As he raises his glass to Solaxis and Balus. Both of you recognize him as the legendary Skrayper Spike-Tail.

Balus shook Von's hand gently. " The pleasure's mine." He smiled back.
When Rire spoke, Balus felt the butterflies flutter again, but this time it wasn't in fear, but in awe instead. Spike Tail had been one of his idols, second only to Truk. After a little hesitation, he returned the gesture. " It's an honor to meet you, Captain."

Solaxis bows "a pleasure captain. 'spike tail', wasn't it? the name you used when you led the resistance forces during the occupation? victor told me many stories. I only wish he were here, but nice to see they found you something to do to keep you out of trouble" Solaxis grinned jokingly

"Yeah. I know. Little obvious huh? But then again, you have plenty of dumb ideas when you're 16, right?" Rire chuckles, and turns to Balus. "Easy big guy. Remember to breathe."

"I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time. I've had a few of those myself"

" Breathe? Oh, yeah, right." Balus said, realizing he was acting like an idiot. " Sorry. It's just you and some of the other resistance leaders are the reason I joined the military."

Solaxis smiled warmly at Balus "the good captain here and those like him were a source of inspiration to many, including myself" nodding to the captain "you have every reason to be proud of your accomplishments, captain. you and your comrades won the day, and every Seerionian on this planet has you and them to thank for their hard-fought and hard-won freedom they are enjoying today. that's part of the reason for this celebration. not just the inaguration of such an aptly-named ship, the "Victory", but also to honor all those who made such an accomplishment a reality"

Rire just grins widely. "A fan. I can appreciate that." He turns to Kiadan. "See, bet even a genius like you can learn something from these two."

Balus finished his drink. " If I may, how come you didn't join the military to continue the fight against the Tarlok, sir?" he asked Spike Tail.

Kiadan watches the conversation quietly while she sits on the bar looking at them. "Social graces are not essential in the laboratory," she says looking at Rire. "I will stick to the important work of understanding the nature of cosmos," she says in a huffy voice, clearly out of place and uncomfortable with the events around her.

Rire chuckles a bit at Balus' comment. "Who says I'm still not fighting'em?" He raises an eyebrow. "Truth is kid, I've never been a 'big picture' guy; I'm a streetfighter: always have been, always will be. Military is all about the big deal; I'm about the small scale. Same end goal, different approach. I respect military, the big picture deal, but I don't got the head or the attitude for it. Besides, after I found my sister, all I really want is to keep her safe, and maybe hope that other folks like us can get a fair shake in this life."
(Perception rolls everyone)
