" Otherwise you and your troops are stuck here with us until then. I can offer you and your squad lodging until it arrives in exchange for helping out with our regular day to day operations until then. But I would like to know more about these orders of yours. The Raiders don't generally waste ammunition on random targets." He folded his arms to his chest. " by all means, make yourselfs comfortable folks, you don't need helmets on the base."

Mary, with her helmet already off, does nothing to reveal her own identity, hoping the dangling messay hair won't give her away too much.

Sam takes her helmet off, her expression neutral as she replies "While I appreciate your offer for lodgings, we are on a bit of a schedule and will need to head out shortly. Unfortunatly, I've already told you all that i can about our current mission, as the rest of the details are classified."

Sam calmly answers the Commander. "My hands are tied, sir. I've already told you everything I am authorized to reveal about this mission. If you wish to know more detail, please contact Colonel Wallace." Sam writes down his name and number of the guy who gave her this mission. "He will verify what I am saying and can give you whatever details you need."

" Very well." The commander replies in a snit, " If you intend to wait, I've have Sgt. Hawkins show you to quarters. I'm afraid officers and enlisted will have to share quarters. Dismissed for now." The Psi that had escorted them in beckoned Sam and the others to follow him as the commander waved them off and picking up the piece of paper Sam had written on.
Once they were out of earshot, Hawkins spoke to Marianna quietly. " Mari, are you crazy coming here? If that nutbag had recognized you? Your best bet is to keep walking out of here before he gets you killed."

Mary looks at Hawkins. "It was the nearest base to where we were downed." She grunts. "How was I supposed to know they sent him here?" She asks.
"Sam, my gear's stashed in the forest." She whispers. "If you've got all yours, we should just head for the door. The longer we stay, the sooner we're found out."

Sam is quiet for a minute and then she nods. "I agree. I think if we stay here, he'll find an excuse to lock us up in the stockade and then throw away the key." Turing to Hawkins, she asks quietly "Where's the nearest exit?"

Mary heads out to the gate, keeping an eye on the soldiers as she passes. "Tell Gus I'll see him again." She says to Hawkins.

"Yes, I know. He kept offering to show me his patrol record... I've never seen such a liberal use of crayons. He's getting better, though." Looking to Sam, Mary says. "We'll let the Commander believe we've headed NorthEast, we'll have to swing that way anyways."
Quietly to Sam as they leave, Mary adds. "We'll double back South after a klick and not loose any time."
To McCain, she says "You'll have to take rear, and record anything suspicious."
Looking back at Sam, she says, "we're ready, Ma'am."
