Ch.32 Trouble on the horizon (All except Sasha)

Tom waves his hands "Look, I'm the first to admit it's not a great plan, but we need something. Anyone who's got another idea, let's hear it."

[dakota]

" I know, it's just..." Jason trailed off with a shrug. " I can't go, not if Wraith is hunting me."

" and it leaves me and Ashley out too. The police know both of us." Avi added, ignoring a look Ashley shot him. " and Wraith knows Dmitri, so that leaves him out in case nutbag is there."

Kristian watched Sierra leave, and had to fight the urge to follow her. " Well someone should go with her. I guess I could..."

Jason shook his head," Nope, we need you at the hospital. You're a paramedic, so you're our ticket in there to find out who the fake Alexi is. That is if we're going to look into that since the rest of us need something to do." He looked t Isamu and Alice for an answer.

[Mierin]

Alice nods at Jason. "We definitely need to investigate that and try to come up with a way to prove that it's not the man they think it is."

She looks nervous and looks at Isamu. "I think Wraith only saw you when you were transformed, so you could come as well if we go to see the mayor." Attempting to look confident, she smiles at Jason "It'll be ok."

[Dome]

Isamu snaps out of his thoughts and looks at the group, he had only picked up bits and pieces of the conversation around him but enough to know that they were asking him to do something dangerous. "I will do whatever is required. Whatever you want me to do Alice."

[dakota]

" doesn't mean I have to like it." Jason sputtered, then pointed out an oversight. " Is it wise to send both our leaders into the lion's den like this? If something happens, we're stuck with Avi."

" Very funny." Avi sniped back. " Heaven forbid you ever take any responsibility."

" Like anyone would listen to me anyways if I even tried." Jason shot back. " Seriously, what if..."

" Face it Jason, you're not going with her." Ashley cut him off. " Is will keep her safe, and I'll watch out for you so Alice doesn't worry what you'll do stupid next."

" Thanks Ash." Jason deadpanned. He looked at Tom, " You game for a trip to the morgue so we can watch Kristian play CSI?"

" I can go with in case you need a fast exit." Dmitri looked at Alice and Isamu as he offered.

[Mierin]

Alice takes Jason's hand and smiles quietly. "I'll be careful, I promise." She looks at Dmitri and nods "While I do think us having a quick exit handy is a great idea, Wraith does recognize you. Would you be hiding in the background?"

Tom looks at Jason. "No, I think it's best it if I go with Alice. I've got connections with the university newspaper to help maybe get us close, plus no one would expect too much trouble from a guy in a wheelchair." Tom tries to look Jason in the eye. "Between me and Isamu, no one will get to Alice. I promise. On my life."

[dakota]

" Good. I'm gonna hold you to that." Jason nodded to Tom. " We'll let you know how things go out at the hospital." He snuck close enough to give Alice a quick kiss. He mock warned," Let the guys handle things if something happens, okay?"

[Dome]

"While I have agree Tom and I should go with Alice I do have one issue that has been stated several times and has me slightly confused."

Isamu pauses and looks around the table and says, "why am I being referred to as a leader? I am no leader. When was that decided?"

[dakota]

" When you didn't argue when it was suggested yesterday." Dmitri replied.

Avi smirked," Don't worry, if you screw up, we'll give the job to someone else, mon."

Everyone chuckled, except Ashley, who seemed to take offense at the joke.

[Dome]

"If that is what is required, So be it. Alice I am not trying to take your place. I did not know about this."

Feeling Ashley tense he squeezes her hand.

[dakota]

" Calm down Is, someone has to take the blame for our screwups when Alice isn't around. You got nominated because everyone else said no before you could." Jason smirked, and drew a few more chuckles from some of the others. Jason leaned over and gave Alice a kiss," Be careful. I mean it, no heroics. Please?" He looked at Tom and grinned, " C'mon Wheels, I'll give you a headstart. you know you could put some spinner rims on that and really pimp it out."

Ashley, still annoyed, took it out on Jason," Stop being a jerk. It wasn't that long ago your were in one of those things, pitying yourself."

A snap remark was on the tip of Jason's tongue, but he kept it in as his glare at Ashley faded as his eyes shifted to Alice.

" Everyone calm down already. Fighting each other won't get us anywheres." Avi pointed out. " Are we leaving now?"

[Mierin]

Alice smiles at Isamu. "I know you're not trying to take my place, Is. It'll be nice to have some help though when I'm trying to figure out what to do."

Returning the kiss, Alice squeezes Jason's hand and nods. "I'll be careful, I promise. You be careful too, ok?" She watches as Jason swallows his remark and smiles at him quietly. She realized it wasn't easy for him to do that and appreciated that he was trying.

Nodding at Avi, she replies "Yes, you should get going, and we'll be doing the same. Good luck everyone. Be careful."

*Sierra has kept herself busy reworking lazy muscles to remember all the training she used to do. the many back-flips and side-flips and the other floor routines keep her mind occupied so she doesn't land wrong.

*while she shakes her arms to relax and before the next series, she focuses on one person and copies their power. her loose clothing is taken up as she changes forms and becomes a copy of Dimitri's coppery self. she then keeps the focus there and starts over again. she hopes that her new form doesn't put any holes in the walls or do any other damage.

*thus occupied, she continues to train. swapping power for another power with some focus, until she finally exhausts herself and pauses, bent at the waist and taking deep breaths to recover her wind.. 'man .. now that's a workout. missed it and boy am i out of shape. need to do this again a few more times and i should be back up to full strength if its ever needed'

To her suprise, the gym is no worse for wear. whoever built it had reinforced it for more punishment than Sierra was dishing out.

Avi nodded. He had a look that foretold his concern over Jason and Ashley's banter, but Jason quashed it," Don't worry Avi, you won't have to put us on timeout." It didn't seem to comfort his look, despite putting a smirk on Ashley's face. She added her own two cents," We don't need alot of us at the hospital. Why don't Dim and I trail Alice and Is just in case? If Wraith is on to you, or something else happens, you'll need some back up. Otherwise we'll just park down the block and wait."
