The Revenant
Background
Real Name: Patrick “Rick” Rogers
OK. Let’s say you are in a coffee shop downtown. How would you like to know how many people have a cellphone in the room? How about if the guy at the register has a criminal record? Or if anyone in the place is on a no-fly list? Who has military training? Who has a gun? Would you like to know if the coffee shop has been doing good business? Or how many customers have paid using debit cards in the last week?
In effect, that was the subject of my Master’s Thesis: looking at the advantages of being able to tap into the all the information that is available in our society and being able to pick out the major points in microseconds in order to determine what information would be useful. And that’s what got Sector 10 interested in my work. Now, I was a poor grad student, but I had principles; their response to my principles was a truckload of money…
The next thing I know, I’m designing a series of implants; some biological, some cybernetic and even nano-technology, for group of ex-military and ex-police to use as some kind of experimental enhancements for crime-prevention. Now, as much as I dislike the idea of tools of a government getting even more power and information than I think they have a right to, I had to admit I was kind of interested in seeing how my concepts would turn out, and if it would actually lead to less violence and police brutality. I even got to know the volunteer cops involved, and even did a little training with them. They were nice guys. Poor bastards.
Ok, the thing is that the human brain really can’t process and discriminate all this information at once. We are talking gigabytes upon gigabytes of data, images, and sensor telemetry hitting areas of the brain not set up for that kind of information. And the internal implants we designed to buffer that information out? Well, they weren’t good enough. The ones that didn’t suffer complete neural meltdown went totally insane. The project was probably going to be shut down.
Now, this is the part where I’m a moron.
See, I figured out a means of circumventing the meltdown issues. I figured an external CPU that wirelessly connected with the implants, while coordinating and monitoring brain functions, would solve the problem. The implants would need some downtime, and couldn’t be used on a 24/7 continuous operation, but this would solve the major problems. The higher-ups didn’t approve; they felt that too many good people had lost their minds and their lives, never mind the money that had been lost. The surgical and the tech teams sided with me, wanting to see something good come of their work, but there was one problem: no test subject. I volunteered; after all, I co-designed the system, and if anyone should really go down with the ship, it should be me.
Here’s where we find out if I’m a genius or an idiot.

Nature of the Imbuing Agent: A system of mechanical and biological body modification implants that remotely plugs into a control unit (In this case, the Gun “Marlowe”). Implants are activated via a voice activation code requiring Voice ID and password (“Command Line: Chandler”)
Kind of Addiction caused by the agent: Left to GM discretion. These implants are an untested prototype.
Who can gain Super Abilities by the Imbuing Agent and who can make it: Anyone CAN gain abilities, but it requires detailed surgical procedures and heavy capital investment.
How long does each dose last: 1D4+4 hours
How often can the Imbuing Agent be taken: As needed, but 30 minutes of recharge time is required between usages
Powers provided by the enhancements:

“MARLOWE” - This gun serves as the CPU for the system of enhancements implanted in Revenant, and can only be activated by a voice recognition passcode. It is large and fairly intimidating, as it is effectively a combination gun, cellphone, and Ipod all in one oversized package. There is a Flash Drive port, and Revenant carries three 120 GB Flash drives, one of which he’ll plug in
#1 – Hacking tools for him to easily upload into computers
#2 – Database for various information, Facial recognition software, etc.
#3 – Music which he constantly changes
Weight: 6 lbs fully loaded
Range: 50 m (150 feet)
Capacity: 10 round magazine
Caliber: .50 (pistol)
Damage: 6D6
Special Features: Has integrated the equivalent of a top of the line cellphone, palm pilot, and IPOD/MP3 player.
Cost Equivalence: $15000
Has approximately 300 rounds for the gun, carries 5 reloads with him when he goes out.
Has a Customized Trenchcoat (Total Cost: $3000) With web-belt and harnesses as well as Sap Gloves (+2 to damage). The Coat has lead weighted in the hem to prevent it from easily getting caught in doors or similar encumbrances.
One suit of Concealed Body Armor for plainclothes investigations (AR:10, 50 SDC)
Pair of polycarbonate knives and Steel Rod Encased Nightsticks
