The Annotated History of Miranda
Age -1: Miranda's parents - Scathach, a Celtic Goddess of War, and John Luka, a Civil Engineer meet (I know, right!) in Canada.
Age 0: Miranda is born (Yay me!)
Age 3: Parents separate (Very Sad.). Her father involves Miranda in a dance class, to help her learn self-confidence and co-ordination (I think it was more he felt bad that mom left and he wanted to keep me busy. It wasn't like she was completely gone. Just not around all the time.).
Age 8: While watching a movie at a friend's party, Miranda discovers the Jedi, and has her friends explain more (Because sword-wielding space knights!).
Age 9: Miranda's powers begin to develop (but I didn't say anything). She convinces her parents to let her take gymnastics (yeah, I had to ask Mom, too. Yeesh.).
Age 10: At a local fair, Miranda meets a Druidic Nun that teaches her to meditate and Martial Arts (She says I was a natural. Which is cool. I like being natural at things). Through meditation, her powers become stronger. Miranda starts competing in gymnastic. It is also becoming apparent how close her powers are to those of a Jedi (Eeee! I'm from a movie!).
Age 13: After years of training and meditation, Miranda competes in the PanAm Games (So much training. Soooo much!).
Age 14: Miranda's powers become fully developed. Being a teenager and bored with constant training, she starts sneaking away to play pick-up soccer. The soccer lasted one season; stopped when she survives an in-game collision without a scratch. (The rest of them kept getting tired, too. Like, really tired. I promise I didn't know what was going to happen.)
Age 16: Miranda earns a spot in the Olympics.
Age 17: Miranda loses her spot after soccer games exposed (They were all like [Serious caveman voice]"You must be taking drugs. You are bad."[Serious caveman voice] They could have had pitchforks and torches and been nicer). While proving she was not on steroids (I'm a natural! Doesn't anyone know what that means?), the nature of the scandal was sufficient to expel her (also, apparently, some other family with more clout in the IOC pulled strings. That made everyone really mad. And then Dad said "Don't worry. It'll break them." That helped.). Following the scandal, John opens up about Miranda's family lineage (and, it turns out, the nun works for Mom). The pair travel to Scotland, where she trains more (All day. Every day. Hor 10 months) and she receives a gift from her mother (a magic sword).
Age 18: Miranda agrees to go to University, to get a more wordly education (MoM's words. Not mine. Dad's helping to pay, too.).
