Vivian found a smoke arrow as the younger Dark Rider opened fire, downing two ninjas. "Heads ain't armored, if that helps any."
Rex brought down two ninjas as the others began to swarm around him.
Lex's blast cut a swath in the crowd, downing them.
The elder Rider sighed and took aim again, but before he could the leader of the Ninjas had leapt the distance and kicked the old man to the ground. The lead ninja began spinning a chain attached to a weapon that looked like a sickle. His laugh was that of a demon.

*Tetsuo doesn't answer Lex. He does ready himself, as best he can, to defend the shooters from any approach on their level.*

The ninja leader allowed Lex to snare his weapon as he snatched the smoke arrow out of the air, snapped off the arrowhead and then tried to jam the jagged edge into Lex's shoulder.
"Do you truly believe you can face me?"
Rider covered his injured grandfather with withering fire from his pistols.
Tetsuo could see the ninja's feat as he snatched the arrow, and could feel the man's power. Rex and the Rider were faring well enough for now. The ninjas had not had their weapons so he knew it would take time for the ones who went for their weapons to arrive.1d20+6·1d20·1d20+1

"Some one has to." Lex replied flatly, letting the leader drive the arrow into his armor, counting on it to protect him. At the same time, he dropped the shotgun to the elder Rider in a fluid motion that and ended with his elbow snapped out to try to catch the leader unexpecting (simult strike)

Lex's shot hit the lead ninja square in the chest, and you could hear the sound of metal-on-metal - he was wearing body armor the whole time!
Meanwhile, he seemed to ignore Lex to focus on Tetsuo's attack.

Ignored, Lex saw it as an opening, and slashed with his forearm blades. This time however, he went for a less likely to be protected target, and slashed downward on the ninja leader's forearm and wrist.

Rex and Vivian were able to avoid any damage from the ninja's assault as Rider provided cover fire. "I'll keep them off you, but you make your shots count!"
